Targeting Redicule

I was wondering, does anyone know how to make a targetting system like the one in Got the Hump? By Avalon? If someone could point me toward a tutorial, it would be greatly appreciated.2011-08-30 02:46:00

There a few tutorials one video by Scorpskull about limiting an objects movement, some written ones on the forums by SSTAG, and you can grab something from my stage 'Doc's Workshop' in my sig that shows the concept in practice. It's (stupidly) called Mr. Cursorator

Keep in mind that the Move add on gives you a cursor with somr pretty powerfully functionality so depending on what you are making it may be prudent to look into that also.

Wire controllinator left stick output to advanced mover inputs on a block of stickered holo (cross hair). Wire R1 or whatever to a tag on the holo. Put tag impact sensor, connected to a counter, connected to a destroyer on a microchip on the stuff you want as targets. Was probably something like this...2011-08-30 03:52:00

That's slightly too simple... xD With that, you can send the cursor anywhere. AND the Advanced Mover doesn't work correctly... :/ You have to make a limit box (or circle, triangle, etc) which can be found in many tutorials. Then set up the object you want to shoot that follows a tag in the middle of your cursor. After that, THEN you set up your destroyers and stuff... Lol...
You were close though.

You were close though.

A) The advanced mover works fine...you need to clarify blanket statements like this.
B) Poster didn't say which part he was having trouble with, it's two independent issues to solve.
C) I think the poster could figure out how to adapt this to add a projectile (if needed).

Instead of simply linking the button to a tag, link it to a counter set to 1 that resets itself, and link that to a tag. Pulse signals work better because otherwise you can just hold down the button.2011-08-30 18:52:00
