"The Mercenaries" Community Poll 3

Another poll! This time for how to make the enemy AI. 1) Massive zombie horde with guns - Crude movement system (basically just follow the player soldiers) - Ridiculous number of enemies at once or 2) Special Ops - Advanced movement system (jumping over obstacles, moving around using cover, etc) - Intelligent use of weapons (only shoots when possible to hit player and uses equipment more tactically) - Very few at once They are both ... fairly... easy to make, but I'm going to need MANY testers to help decide which system will be used throughout the game. This is just for the random enemies you find around the map, depending on the mission, there will be more advanced AI. Thanks for any and all input. | 2011-08-30 02:29:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |
I'd definitely go small special ops squads. I've played too many levels that just had swarms of duplicated enemies. It really makes the difference between a repetitive level and an interesting one. Also I'd be happy to test whenever | 2011-08-30 03:06:00 Author: Clayton Posts: 181 |
SSTAGG, I'd be happy to test whenever I'm on. Invite me and I'll join, as long as I'm not working on my RTS. | 2011-08-31 03:56:00 Author: Unknown User |
Special Ops, probably makes gameplay more fun. <-- Would love to beta test. ^^ | 2011-08-31 07:45:00 Author: nunsmasher Posts: 247 |
Awesome. I probably won't have the AI ready for a few days at the least though. Just to be sure, this isn't going to be something like an early play through of the level, since it's not exactly ready. I need you to mess around with the AI and try to find bugs with it. I can do some testing, but since I know how it all works, I might not try something that will break it. I'll try to add everyone that wants to test it and message them when it's ready. | 2011-08-31 07:59:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |
