Sword Melee Animation

I have been trying to create a sword melee animation, but with no luck. It doesn't have to actually be a sword, but rather just the slashing type of animation. Ive seen some levels with this, but don't know how it's done. I don't need to know how to make the slash cause damage, just how to create the animation.2011-08-29 03:30:00

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by a slashing animation without a sword. A friend of mine did it by emitting a bit of holo in a slashy Nike-swoosh shape that I thought adequately conveyed the idea of a sword slash if that's what you're trying to do.2011-08-29 05:47:00

From what i ve seen, its not easy to achieve great looking slash animation ( as bot animation seems very basic in the game) but the most convincing i have see, is by this guy...

Check out his levels and tutorials and maybe you could understand a bit, because i didn't lol , but in short he is sequencing a controllinator using batteries.

Alternatively, on the easy side, covering a recorded slap animation with a big, nice, bright and shiny holo as Sehven suggested and a loud sword sound , will blind and convince the player that he really saw a slash also. lol

Hi.To do a slash animation, thees a few ways tol do it. Here's one.

1. Create the numper of frames you want to have in your animation for the slashing effect. Say 6. Now, create six slashing effects for each stage on the animated sequence out of holographic material (say six swords)
2. Now rotate each sword into a different angle (into a sort of arcing chop motion)- thats your frames set up.
3. now on make a flat holo block of 7x7 small squares of 0 brightness. Place a follower on the middle bottom of this holo block (tweak the follower so it sets to- Speed 100, Strenght 100, Min range 0.0, Max range 50.0, Follow tag RED (and place a matching Red tag on the sackbot) This makes the follower follow the players sackbot and as its attasched to the holo block that follows him too. (I'm assuming you know how to make a player controlled sackbot).
4. On the sackbots base chip place Sequencer. Wire up the attack button on the sackbots controlinator (say X) into the Start Input tab on the sequencer. Set the sequencers speed to something you like and Loop Play to off.
5. Now, On the aequencer place 6 batteries, one after the other (with a gap of one battery space between them). Wire the first battery up to the center of the first holo sword in the animated sequence, the second battery to the second, and so on. Job almost done. Now teszt it out and see does your slash anim work correctly- it should.
6. Once happy it animates right, and all works, Select the first holo in the sequence and move it over the flat piece of holo with the folloer on it and position and glue it to the holo with the mover. Do the same with the others but overlay them all so it looks like the sword slash.

Thanks for the advice....I understood everything perfectly. I guess the only thing I'm concerned with now is, am I artistic enough to create a slash animation.2011-08-29 19:03:00
