Tag sensors

Archive: 5 posts

Does the radius a tag sensor looks in affect the speed of logic allot? And the angle, like making it just half a circle or even a quarter?

Also are there any tutorials or tips on making logic faster? I have a setup where multiple objects "talk" to each other with tag signals but there is some time from when it is passed to the first one until it gets to the last, and I'm trying to get it faster

It depends on if you change the tag to "signal speed". Try using a seqencer when using magic mouths 2011-08-28 21:03:00

none of that should impact the speed of a tag sensor. It should be operating fairly instantaneously. If you are seeing slow results then the issue would likely be somewhere other than between the tag and sensor.2011-08-28 21:19:00

Then it has to be the logic in between, but I tried to keep it very simple
The signal does go through about 80 objects and it takes probably about a second, maybe little bit more, to get through to the other end. Expected it be (almost) instantly though

If you think it may be the tags, there is a way to check.

run an XOR gate into a timer. Hook the logic that activates the tag to a counter set to count to one. Hook that into one pole of the XOR. Do the same with the tag sensor into the other pole. The timer should only run as long as only one is active.

The counters will have a slight delay, but since it is equal on both ends it cancels out. It will let you know how long the gap is between tag and sensor.
