Lighting Flicker Glitch

Archive: 5 posts

I was moving things around in create mode and every thing was hunky-dory until I saved and entered play mode. The world shook, as I discovered a cool glitch/effect to create flickering light.

I don't know how to explain this exactly, as I'm still looking into it currently, but it deals with using a bright background theme. I'll update this as I experiment further. Right now I have a full screen flicker in the background of my level at the start and found out how to make it go away and possibly how I created it in the first place.

Edit: I placed a thin black background behind everything since before the screen only "flickered" between the original blank background and my alpine background whereas now it flashes between the black background and a slightly darker shade of it.

I'm working on a way to incorporate this into Part II of my series. It's a pretty neat effect, now to just slow it down to figure out how to control it and recreate actual lighting...2011-08-28 04:15:00

When you start a level at Blank Template, you have that blank Backround, right? When you go to change the backround, you see'em. If you pick blank again, it'll get darker, but I'm afraid you can't change it back at this level!2011-10-23 11:14:00
