Auto scrolling Sack-Runs level?

Hi.

I’m curious about something.
Is there a way to make a Sack-person running in a emitting auto scrolling level?
kinda like the story-mode's Bee auto scrolling level but on with a walking/running Sackbot instead.
I mean how would you keep the sack person in the middle or whatever
Without a gas-wall or whatever and still make it look like it’s running & stuff?
I have played around with the idea before but could not come up with any good answer.
Sackpeople have to be really running whatever way for the run animation to work,
But then at that point there would be no-way to keep them in the one spot.
So there seems to be no real way to do it.

This is actually something I am tweaking at the moment there is a great tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEplXDGqtAM&hd=1) from Comphermc about it, but if you set the speed of the scroll to 4.2-ish then you run on the spot....

Now the next thing to do is to get a speed sensor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5ua83Lvj-E&hd=1) (again a sweet Compehermc tutorial) there may be a way to rig it's output to the speed control setup in the video. I'm pretty sure it'll work how I'm thinking, but I'm yet to make it. The speed sensor set up output's a percentage the speed setting in the scroll is a counter, but I think that replacing this will yield some interesting results.

Watch the two vids and see if my rambling make sense.

Actually Mr_Fusion, I beleive sackboys speed is about 4.285 to the left and 4.295 to the right so it should be about 4.3, not 4.2. Well you could always make the gas invisible 2011-08-27 13:11:00

Edit: Wow...
So what I'm seeing is... your thinking about
connecting the speed of the strolling with a sack follower
so the strolling level speeds up or down depending on how fast
the player/Bot is moving? Crazy. and sounds really hard.
would also have to disable the player from going the other way...
or you'd need even far more crazy logic so the level knows to
stroll & Emit left or right... yeah would for sure need to be made so
Sack can only run/move one way for this strolling spot in whatever level.

I don't want the Bot to even be able to get to the edge of the level parts
nor do i want the player to be killed from Gas. (>.>)

You could have the invisible boundaries using holograms and impact sensors, and you could probably set up something like a battery with an output telling a sackbot to go right as the same speed as the emitted background. When the player would hit right on the left stick, maybe the bot would slow down, by having maybe an OR gate with a weaker speed, and left would make it speed up. I can see this being done with maybe 100& acceleration, 0% deacceleration movers on the bots, and 100% acceleration & deacceleration on the stage itself. It might be a little easier to explain to you in create, :L Hope dis helps.

BTW... I saw that sackbot surfboard thing the other day... and I want to play that!

there is no need for a speed sensor for this, as ideally the bot wouldnt actually be moving, your better off having a tag on the bot and tag sensor on either the left or right boundary wired into the scrolling speed, you could also have this setup going both ways too, depending on what you wanted though.
then you could have a 50% battery wired into the sideways input of a controlinator on your sackbot, then subtract or add to that to speed up and slow down, may wanna speed up the bot in it's tweak settings too

Thanks nice to hear people want to play my surfbot minigame in my upcoming level.
And honestly this was half the reason I made this topic.
because It could maybe be a good idea to use with my surfbot level.
the other reason was I just wanted to know as it sounded cool and seemed like a
interesting idea to make a strolling level that you walk/run in someday.

problem is I don't think it'll work with my surfbot.
for some reason when on a strolling floor the bot on top the botboard
would not face right anymore....
