http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo195/liampatrickberry/MARBLE.jpg It is with regret we announce the eccentric sackboy known as EnochRoot has finally lost his last few remaining marbles...if sighted inform the authorities! They were last reported heading for the bright lights in a random level titled Marble Mayhem! http://lbp.me/v/5np986 http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo195/liampatrickberry/MARBLE1.jpg A level based (very loosely based on the old school classic marble madness) filled with random events and obstacles http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo195/liampatrickberry/MARBLE3.jpg Race across an alien landscape grabbing bonus points along route... http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo195/liampatrickberry/MARBLE2.jpg prizes available for folks who wish to create their own marble masterwork. Technical notes: the level started life as an easter egg sub-level but as I lost control of my marbles things got out of hand- sackbots acting in the background of lower section-giant moving plane section and other assorted weird stuff. Thanks to the marble mayhem team: Mr_Lambz co-creator, Blukebeh music director, kandt2s first assisstant, Rot_in technician, brucethejam marble visuals and all the other testers who failed to help me retain my marbles. http://lbp.me/v/5np986 | 2011-08-26 23:01:00 Author: EnochRoot Posts: 533 |
Got this and your other new level queued. Sounds interesting. | 2011-08-27 00:54:00 Author: shookie99 Posts: 447 |
I really enjoyed your level! There was the perfect balance of gameplay and detail which stood out to me the most. This was also very enjoyable with multiplayer too! You also did a fine job of the 3D glitch. Nice job! | 2011-08-27 01:09:00 Author: FEAR Posts: 337 |
This level was pretty neat. I liked a lot of the visual effects, especially the vector effect. I'd like to know how you did that transition The only thing that really bothered me is that the music got really repetitive, and the ball spinning the wrong way was distracting. It got a little slow towards the end. It is good though. Very nice visually. | 2011-08-27 01:45:00 Author: tdarb Posts: 689 |
I tried playing this level last night, but I kept falling asleep (because it was late, not because of the level). I'll play it again tonight so I can provide proper feedback. Just wanted you to know I didn't forget. EDIT: Got to play it all the way through this time. It's a good idea, with great visuals, but the gameplay seemed to be lacking a bit. It was mostly just moving through the level; no jumps to time, no deadly obstacles. And, like tdarb said, the marble rotating on its own was a little annoying. If you can incorporate more exciting gameplay, it will definitely be worth coming back to check out again. | 2011-08-27 22:37:00 Author: Brannayen Posts: 438 |

Thanks for the feedback, I used the music as a reference to the original marble madness but like a lot of retro game music it can be a little annoying after a while, thats why I switched it to tetris towards the end. The counter spin of the marble can be fixed, in fact the prize marble collected at the end scoreboard is a later improved version with no counter spin. I'll get my lazy butt on the level and switch them over some time soon. | 2011-08-28 12:09:00 Author: EnochRoot Posts: 533 |
Just played your level. Really liked the visuals, great job! The gameplay was a bit boring though since there weren't really any obstacles. Only had to move around the whole level. And as others have said, bit annoying that the marble kept rolling back but wasn't a huge problem for me. For the rest I really liked it though. As for F4F, would be cool if you could try my level and leave some feedback. Thanks for the feedback folks. Just updated the level to include the v1.1 marbles which include the correct directional rotation and greater momentum allowing for quicker racing times (if only MM would fix the scoreboards!) -The pinball section is now more challenging with hidden boost bumpers and requiring correct positioning to get to the bowling alley upper level. -The aliens in the planet section are now more hostile requiring plane switching to avoid. | 2011-08-28 21:47:00 Author: EnochRoot Posts: 533 |
Tried it again to check how it works now. The marble definately rolls better, but this one seems to suck onto objects sometimes. And you can't move this one in the air, makes it hard to get some of the points. Like the speed of this one when you press X though. And I don't know if it's just me but I didn't notice any difference with the aliens. | 2011-08-28 22:11:00 Author: Firehuntah Posts: 75 |
I liked the level idea and it was alright playing it but I thought some bits were "sloppy". For example, the bubbly green pipe thing looked very messy in the way it looked. I think what would have been better is deadly obstacles and challenges. E.g. roll onto a button to open a door or something like that. Or maybe lose points if you hit certain things. The aliens got me but nothing really happened. I liked the pinball bit the most out of everything. I thought that the pinball movements would have been more fun if they were done witht he sixaxis tilt. Thats pretty much All I have to say, its Good but room for improvement. | 2011-08-29 09:57:00 Author: Unknown User |
Got this queued. F4F: Through A Nightmare, Darkly http://lbp.me/v/43s117 Thanks! | 2011-08-30 00:20:00 Author: InfiniteTwilight Posts: 159 |
Really fun level with a retro vibe and cool trippy visuals. Very marble madness kinda vibe. The marble spinning did not bother me at all. As suggested else where all I could add would be some gap avoidance traps and layer switching platforming. Good job. | 2011-08-30 02:24:00 Author: shookie99 Posts: 447 |
I played this level yesterday, and it's a clever marble obstacle game. VISUALS: I think there's some good visual ideas, but there should be more smoothing materials and better timing of some obstacles. However, I really do enjoy some cool lighting effects, the aliens part, and the tilting giant VR grid material part. SOUND: Good custom musics. GAMEPLAY: The marble controls are good, but the boost of the marble is somewhat inaccurate and because of it, I got stuck on the pinball part for five minutes. Also, the tilting VR grid 3D layer should have a better corner spot on the left side because it sometimes gets difficult to exit the tilt platform to the left. OVERALL: Despite some problems I mentioned, it's a fun level with a bunch of good marble obstacles. A yay. F4F Cybernetic Adventures Zeta | 2011-08-30 05:34:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |

The level was just a quick riff on the marble madness theme, still plenty of room for improvement along the lines suggested with more traps and switch triggered obstacles that could be implemented to ramp up the gameplay challenge. F4F Cybernetic Adventures Zeta Thanks for the feedback Justin, glad you liked the giant tilting VR grid section and marble related mayhem. Hopefully we may see some more levels from creators with tighter gameplay and new obstacles soon using the marble concept. Will check out your F4F level and feedback. | 2011-09-02 09:52:00 Author: EnochRoot Posts: 533 |

The new marble madness is here ! I loved your visual effects and I wonder how you made a lot of them. I couldn't try it on multiplayer, but i'm sure, it would be even better this way.
