Well, it sounds like it's gonna be bad when it first hits the coast I pray for everyone that's gonna be in the Hurricane. | 2011-08-25 07:47:00 Author: Unknown User |
God, what a terrible name for a hurricane. What's next, Hurricane Cinnamon? Why is it bad, I've met a lot of women named Irene, in more than one country. | 2011-08-25 07:56:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
My cousin and aunt are stuck in this right now, wtf made them want to go on a spontaneous holiday to Jamaica 2 days ago? My cousin is like a cross between Pinkie Pie out of MLP:FiM and Caboose out of Red vs Blue, so I have no idea how she'll cope with this... Hope they don't die or get injured or anything like that. :'( Edit: Just got news that they're fine now. | 2011-08-25 12:55:00 Author: abyssalassassin Posts: 717 |
My folks live in North Carolina about 3 hrs inland so I'm following this one closely. I'm hoping it'll turn and just skim the coast. Best Wishes and prayers to everyone who is in this or has family in the area. Right now it's a Cat. 3 with 115 mph winds | 2011-08-25 13:22:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
Why is it bad, I've met a lot of women named Irene, in more than one country. It's a perfect name for a women, a hurricane not so much. | 2011-08-25 14:24:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |

I have some family in VA that'll get hit. I'm in MD so I'll get hit as well = | 2011-08-25 22:06:00 Author: Unknown User |
I have some family in VA that'll get hit. I'm in MD so I'll get hit as well = Ugh I'm in MD as well. I hope there won't be power outages... ...who am I kidding? There are totally gonna be outages. Winds going at 100+ miles an hour! | 2011-08-25 23:38:00 Author: Shadowstarkirby Posts: 205 |
You see east coast? THIS you can complain about. Earthquakes? No. | 2011-08-25 23:57:00 Author: theswweet Posts: 2468 |
Alright so it passed by us last night, and there was extreme thunderstorms, and a tornado like 15 miles away so we all chilled in the basement most of the night. Also why don't they ever name any of the hurricanes after dudes? Not that i care, just curious.... | 2011-08-26 00:32:00 Author: Merc Posts: 2135 |
You see east coast? THIS you can complain about. Earthquakes? No. Because earthquakes are more fun. I'll get hit. I'm not worried about losing power... 20kW generator. I'm worried about losing cable which means NO INTERWEBS! | 2011-08-26 00:49:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
If I were you guys, I'd head westward inland, just to be safe. I can't imagine what'll happen to the more densely populated areas (especially the NYC & DC areas). Best to pray that this won't be too severe. | 2011-08-26 01:10:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |

By the time it reaches New York/New England it will fizzle out. This always happens... they say we're going to get a huge storm and the most we might get is some hail. | 2011-08-26 05:54:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
O_O Parts of NYC were evacuated. | 2011-08-27 04:32:00 Author: Unknown User |
Typically any low lying area in the path of anything with a possibility of 10+ hours of rain will be evacuated. NYC is especially prone to the subways flooding and it wouldn't be uncommon. Once it hits NC it will become a Category 1 and by the time it reached Connecticut is should be a tropical storm. | 2011-08-27 07:10:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
I have a question is it going to hit NC? I went outside and i heard strong winds, and its 5:45 in the morning. | 2011-08-27 10:45:00 Author: The_Lil_JoKeR Posts: 745 |
"If you think naming a hurricane after a women is sexist, you obviously haven't seen the gals grabbing for items at a clearence sale!" :arg: Anyway, I only hope they'll all get by. | 2011-08-27 11:05:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
At about noon today the entire subway system in NYC will be closed down and all its equipment will be stored in secure locations. Everyone near water is supposed to evacuate. I don't live near the water so I think I'll be fine. | 2011-08-27 12:56:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I was born in Florida, and moved to Maine to get AWAY from the hurricanes......and now we're gonna get hit by this one. XD Best of wishes to everyone in this right now, though. Cheers, flyinhawaiian | 2011-08-27 13:33:00 Author: flyinhawaiian Posts: 357 |
Yeah, North Carolina will be hit, but I'm sure you know that by now. There were over 6,500 flight cancellations last night especially in NYC. Irene will affect many other area beside the east coast. There are many tornado warnings in the mid/north west. | 2011-08-27 16:07:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
O_O My uncle said the media hyped this up too much | 2011-08-27 23:00:00 Author: Unknown User |
They did. It isn't a terrible storm at all. It's a lot of rain and wind, and the people ignorant enough to be outside. | 2011-08-27 23:07:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
I just got home from a hour drive, going east into the hurricane, no storm. | 2011-08-27 23:29:00 Author: Unknown User |
You may not have hit a band. Or maybe if you were lucky you drove through the eye. | 2011-08-28 02:09:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
I'm getting it right now. A branch fell and hit our house but no real damage though. My work got cancelled today though . | 2011-08-28 14:48:00 Author: maddoggnick96 Posts: 272 |
Meh... a typical boring hurricane. No extremely high winds, no driving rain, no power outages. Just a gigantic mess of leaves in the pool. | 2011-08-29 07:21:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
A power line post and a tree were knocked over next to my apartment building from the hurricane winds... o.o | 2011-08-29 13:24:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
