Text search deemed useless
Archive: 9 posts
Anyone agree with me that the Text Search option in the game is useless because of how many 'bad' levels come up when you search something or anything. Why do they only have the filter option in MM picks and not in text search results? It really bothers me when I'm trying to look for a good level based on what i searched and have hundreds of LBP1 levels with 0 plays and nothing really in the level itself. I think MM should add the filter option in text search. | 2011-08-24 00:46:00 Author: Strodigy Posts: 124 |
Nope. Use it to search for specific levels and its one of the best things in the game, so no its not useless if you're using it to "Search" not to dive into random levels of a theme or similar title. | 2011-08-24 01:08:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
you can filter cool levels by text, game, tags, and a bunch of other crap. This is the 'true' text search, i think. | 2011-08-24 06:57:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
I find it extremely useful if i know the exact title of the level/creator so in a word no. | 2011-08-24 07:21:00 Author: booXely Posts: 654 |
I find it extremely useful if i know the exact title of the level/creator so in a word no. Yeah, when I try to search it would usually just search that exact phrase and word you type instead of searching phrases around that entry, in which it would usually say 'No results found'. I use the extra-character searches that were told in LBP1, like putting '@' before your search to find a specific author, or putting single or double quotes to search for a level description. I haven't been using it too much when I got LBP2 though, so I'm not too sure if the extra character searches still work. | 2011-08-24 20:29:00 Author: Denim360 Posts: 482 |
Thing is, many times I searched for a specific level without any spelling mistakes and it doesn't work. The level I was looking for simply doesn't show up. And to make even less sense, a few results containing none or only one of the words I searched in their titles or descriptions come up sometimes. A quick random search on LBP confirms it. I searched "batman joker returns". If there are no levels with those 3 words, it should render no results. Gaze upon the pile of rubbish that comes up instead: http://lbp.me/search?q=batman+joker+returns That is what renders the text search mostly useless and for me a last resource functionality. They definitely should improve this. And include filter, may the search be meant for finding specific levels or not. If you look for a LBP2 level with a generic enough title, a jamilgabantizillion LBP1 levels will show up first making you scroll down for half an hour, HOPING this search even renders the right level as a result. Text search needs quite some tweaks, period. | 2011-08-25 02:51:00 Author: SnipySev Posts: 2452 |
