The Legend of Zelda - Zelda's Birthday

Archive: 10 posts

What is it?
A Level based on the world of Hyrule in Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Some months have passed since the defeat of Ganon in the original game, and today is Zelda's Birthday! Link and his friends all have prepared gifts for the princess, but some thieves decided to cause some trouble, stealing all of them! You as Link must go throught Hyrule in the search for the presents, to grant the princess an happy birthday!

Explorable Areas:
The Level features Kokiri Forest, Hyrule Field, The Lost Woods, Gerudo Valley and an inedit dungeon to explore.
Because of the game limitations, some areas are not like in the original game, you explore another part of the Lost Woods, you enter Hyrule Field from a different exit, and you will find something new under the waterfall in Gerudo Valley...

The Music:
The Level features music from the Zelda games, including nostalgic tracks like the Dungeon Theme from the first Original Zelda.

IN 3D!!!
This is the first real level were i made a massive use of the 3D glitch, not all areas are made in 3D, but that's just because my thermo was about to explode, i had to delete some stuff to make space for the ending!

Creatinator:
Each dungeon houses a cool item in the Zelda games, in this level, you will be able to unleash the wrath of the goddess Din herself throught the Helm of Din, able to shoot fire, light the dark and burn obstacles and creatures!

The Castle Courtyard where Zelda Resides

Patch 1.2
- Platforms made larger in the caverns, now the torch is easier to reach.
- Added the Kokiri Forest music as a sequencer! (Thanks to Pime_Taradox234)

There, i hope you like it, this level was a massive work for me, i put a lot of dedication on it, and i personally think it's my greatest work ever. Please spread the word, help my levels get plays, so i will be able to make more awesome levels like this!

Now thanks to Pime_Taradox234, the Kokiri Forest music was added to the level, which means...
Now my level is 100% composed by Zelda music, yay!

Played your level, Alismadia, i leaved feedback both on LBP2 and your level page.

Nice level. The atmosphere, the music, the characters, and the storyline were great! The details weren't good, but it wasn't bad either. You've got a nice level going on here! 8)2011-08-26 17:11:00

I don't know why this level hasn't gotten better ratings. (as of this post, 5 yays and 2 boos) I really liked it. You did a good job at recreating the scenes from Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It took me back to those wonderful days of playing this great game.2011-08-26 20:38:00

This level has a good Zelda feeling, but I found this level to be decent.

VISUALS:
The layer glitch looks pretty good, but the whole level lacks decorations, corner edits, lighting, and most importantly of all polishing (You even gave me feedback to polish my first LBP1 levels last year). I understand you need room for the ending, though.

SOUND:
Great recreation of the Zelda musics (do you know who made the "Gerudo Valley" one?).

GAMEPLAY:
Some platforming parts of the levels are good, but some are bland. What should be fixed is that the grabbable box in the dungeon should be completely visible, so that players won't get stuck knowing how do they reach the last torch before the creatinator part. I also noticed that the platform around the last checkpoint before retrieving birthday gifts dropped, so because of it, I couldn't reach Zelda's birthday gifts and I couldn't beat the level.

OVERALL:
Despite the decent gameplay and basic visuals, there are some great Zelda moments, and the remake musics of Zelda games are very good. This one is a mixed. Keep it up.

Oh yeah, you're that guy from the Hero Quest series. Now i remember.
Well my friend, let me explain to you.

VISUALS:

I don't understand this part... What you mean by lightning? I made the level as close as possible to the original Ocarina of Time game, how i should edit the lightning?
I agree there are some parts that could use some polish however, i guess i will see what can be improved.

SOUND:

I think i got it in a random level, i don't remember. But i can give it to you if you want.

GAMEPLAY:

I don't think you understand what i was looking to achieve, i made the level purposedly this way, because, yes, i can make an amazing waterfall of falling platforms as a platforming element, but then it wouldn't be Zelda. I tried to make it look as most accurate (except the Lost Woods, because in the original game it's a fourway path, can't do that in LBP) as the original game. Maybe you can think it's boring to play, but the whole purpose of the level is to awake nostalgia.
Also if you played the original, you know that the architecture is very basic, Hyrule Field is the proof, it looks very empty in the game, and it looks empty in my game too! (Also, due to the layer glitch characteristics i couldn't really fill it up anyway)
The last part before the gifts is just solid ground, no platforms, i can't understand what'youre talking about. Tell me i'd like to fix it.

OVERALL:

Unfortunately, the thermo busted, i can't add anything else to the level, that's why i had to make the level so much linear and platformless. I just needed to use the thermo on the visuals for the nostalgic department.

I will see your level when i can.
