Top Android Apps?

So, my old phone fell out of my pocket and got ran over by a car (exactly typical of my luck) - so I bought myself a new bling Smart Phone with all the bells and whistles.

But I'm 100% new to the whole Smart Phone App scene;

So I was looking for suggestions/recommendations of what Apps to be downloading;

Anyone else have an Android phone?

Angry Birds was the first one I downloaded funnily enough - I think it's the law

I'm more looking for apps that add functionality - rather than games ;

It's currently only for Xperia PLAY. It's really awesome, bought it as soon as it was released. Mojang said it will come to other android phones in about 1-2 months.


Anyways, you should download Opera Mobile Browser, it's imo better than the default android browser. I recommend the game 'Unblock me' it's a really fun puzzle game.		2011-08-18 17:23:00

I do like Abduction (1 and 2), which is a kind of Doodle Jump (but much less hyped and much better). SpeedX 3D is quite fun too... But these are games, maybe you're looking to find non-game apps? I've actually mainly downloaded books...

PS: Oh, and I'm also downloading I Must Run! right now. As I'm just addict to the flash-game Canalbat (http://adamatomic.com/canabalt/), I think I'll be enjoying it.		2011-08-19 13:54:00

Found a sweet little app - Blackmarket Alpha ;
Not available in the app stores but freely available on the internet - transfer it to your phone and then get 90% of all the Paid apps for free!

Haven't got an android that long, but i like these

GFX:
Paintjoy and Paintpro (both act like a little gfx tablet)
Photoshop Express (don't think this needs explanation)

Games:
Defensoid lite, Hexdefense, Robo Defense (all tower defense games)
Spacephysics (pretty cool physics game)
Inkball (nice puzzle game)

Music:
Shazam (comes usefull when you hear a song you don't know the name of)

Tools:
Tricorder (all kind of nerdy tools like dB meter, Compass, Solar activity, acceleration meters, ... kind of buggy though

What should you have? : 4shared (RussianInternetSolutions), Fast reboot, Advanced task killer, Hacker's keyboard, UnInstaller, Animated Gif player, Batterylife, Youtube, ADW notifier

Tower Raiders 2 is pretty dank. also, try C:Geo. It is a fun way to get into geocaching, and it unlocks a lot of premium features of geocaching.com without the membership fee. You have to be a free member of geocaching.com to use it tho.2011-08-19 20:50:00

Some of my favorite apps are:

Angry birds
Zenonia 1-3 (Definitely a must play if you like old school RPGs)
PowerAmp (best music app for Android)
Handcent SMS (better than default Messaging app)
Dolphin Web Browser

WhatsApp ;
lets you send picture messages and videos to other WhatsApp users over the 3G network (or wifi) for free. It's cross platform too so your iphone or blackberry lumbered mates can use it too.		2011-08-24 13:50:00
