Nonviolent, peaceful games :)
Archive: 51 posts
Hey fellas! I like my FPS games and my hack and slash games just as much as anyone else, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of peaceful nonviolent games like the upcoming "Journey" or something. I need a break from all this gore. | 2011-08-18 13:03:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
Noby Noby Boy - it's like the dream of an acid trip who's hallucinating because it drank some out of date milk! Ok, technically you are a killer cosmic worm who's going around devouring everything in sight and then pooping it out all over the place.... but it's definately one of the most chilling games on PSN Then there's Flower - also very chilling. | 2011-08-18 14:06:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |

I might check it out. I was aware of flower, but wasn't sure if it was worth the money. | 2011-08-18 14:14:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
Flower is actually a really good title. I've seen it referenced alot of times for things like "How to tell a story with no words" etc. I really enjoyed it. | 2011-08-18 14:27:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
I might check both of these out then... when I get my paycheck, yo. | 2011-08-18 14:32:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
Braid. BRAID SO MUCH, seriously! Now! Braid, now! | 2011-08-18 15:12:00 Author: Edeslash Posts: 135 |
Katamari Forever a game about rolling thing up until certain requirement is achieved. Echochrome a puzzle game that you solve by rotating the level to do stuff like merge paths and cover gaps and holes (if you cant see the hole it doesn't exist.) Demo available. Deus Ex Human Revolution. I'm not sure how nonviolent this'll be but with trophies for completing the game without anyone dying by your hand (excluding bosses) and not raising any alarms nonviolence does look to be a mostly viable option. | 2011-08-18 15:24:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Toy Story 3. Its cartoon violence and very enjoyable. Calming too. | 2011-08-18 15:26:00 Author: craigmond Posts: 2426 |
Katamari Forever I have this. Had Katamari Damaci. Had We Love Katamari. Had the iOS Katamari. Love the series... Waiting for a "true" next gen one tho. Forever is basically the PS2 version with a new story and a few new levels... But Same all the important ways around. EDIT: when you think of it... Katamari is one of the most violent, genocidal, apocalyptic games ever made... Turning all the inhabitants of the planet into a giant ball of trash, and making it into a star? | 2011-08-18 15:35:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |

I've been waiting since the first set of Fallouts for a return to "Non-Combat" characters in an RPG. I was beginning to give up. Although - you still have to kill the boss men? Then they still don't get it - a character with high enough speech/bartering skill would either talk his way out of it - or hire someone to do the killing for him | 2011-08-18 15:38:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
Silent Hill always has a special reward for not killing a single thing. Usually a big gun :| </irony> | 2011-08-18 15:44:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
Pixeljunk Eden Cuboid Noby Noby Boy PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX Braid Portal 2 Pixeljunk Monsters Just to name a few of my favorite "non-violent" games. | 2011-08-18 16:01:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |

Machinarium, an award winning point and click adventure game, is coming to PSN soon. | 2011-08-18 16:21:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Oh yeah forgot about point & clicks. In that case The Sam & Max adventures; Or Back to the Future aswell | 2011-08-18 16:26:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
Gran Turismo 5? | 2011-08-18 16:35:00 Author: Unknown User |
Gran Turismo 5? That's an incredibly violent game! Well, it is when I get road rage | 2011-08-18 16:38:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
Flow... It's calming, though you do have to eat harmless enemies that try to kill you with poison. My all time favorite PC (if your into that stuff) would be SimCity (3000, and 4 preferably), The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and SimTower. I also love the first two RollerCoaster Tycoons. And I suggest any N64 racing game. Oh, almost forgot the Burnout series. | 2011-08-18 17:20:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
Love the sims. I was addicted at age 12 | 2011-08-18 17:34:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
Machinarium, an award winning point and click adventure game, is coming to PSN soon. No freakin' Way! I've been wanting this one for awhile now. Just haven't pulled the trigger on ordering it. What about the sims? No, actually if you play the way I do, it's pretty violent. I have a pull party then take out the ladders, everyone drowns and I have a bunch of urns lying around. Or purposefully start a fire, remove all the doors. I'm terrible. Do you still have your PS2? Psychonauts Beyond Good and Evil Abe's Oddysee and Exodus What about racing games? GT5? If you do PC gaming: World of Goo Sims 3 (if you play nice) Roller Coaster Tycoon Go get some abandonware and play some older point and click adventures | 2011-08-18 19:54:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
Points & Clicks can be relied upon http://forum.wordreference.com/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif Machinarium is a very captivating game. You'll really have to use your brains to solve some riddles. The Monkey Island series is one of the top adventure series too, these games will have you in stitches at that! | 2011-08-18 20:03:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. It does have well... I guess you could call it violence. Explosions and what not, But it has a very different and interesting type of art style going for it. | 2011-08-18 20:16:00 Author: Maxi Posts: 1176 |
It'd be easier if we knew what platforms you're working with, but here are some suggestions off the top of my head: Minecraft set on peaceful mode - possibly one of the most relaxing, enjoyable experiences you can have with a video game. Civilization V - not exactly "nonviolent" per say, but it has quite a number of ways to win and its turn-based nature makes for a quite cerebral experience (for me at least). This game has a way of devouring your free time, if you let it. The last time I played, I was at the computer from 5PM 'till 4AM. Anno 1404 (a.k.a. Dawn of Discovery in the U.S.) - very much like Civ V, except a much heavier focus on production and trade over foreign relations and combat (and also features real-time gameplay instead of turn-based). Careful with this one, it's very easy to get obsessive over designing highly efficient production lines and trade routes, especially if you're slightly OC like I am. Osmos - cellular-based combat. But not violent, interestingly enough. And talk about a trip. Very calming. Crayon Physics Deluxe - drawing-based physics puzzle game. Pretty art style, nice soundtrack, and multiple solutions for nearly every puzzle. One of my favorites. Has a fun sandbox mode too. World of Goo - construction-based physics puzzle game. Very similar to CPD. Pretty art style, nice soundtrack, and multiple solutions for many puzzles. Again, one of my favorites. Also has a fun sandbox mode. Garry's Mod - great for building crazy things, abusing the physics engine, and just generally mucking about. More fun with friends, IMO, but I still have a good time making Rube Goldberg machines and exploring user-created maps and mods on my own. | 2011-08-18 20:37:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
I enjoy LocoRoco myself for times like that and LBP of course~ xD Minecraft is pretty good too, like Cartman said~ | 2011-08-18 20:47:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
LBP. Im kidding but. Patapon. The Sims Sports Champions (except swordfighting) Fifa Eyepet Lego Games That looks about right. | 2011-08-18 20:52:00 Author: craigmond Posts: 2426 |
Patapon. That looks about right. As much as I love Patapon... It's kinda a war story and game. Nonviolent means no violent | 2011-08-18 21:02:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
I was and still currently am addicted to The Sims series. Playing for 10+ years and love it. If you start to play The Sims again, I suggest you check out this site (http://www.thesimsresource.com/) for The Sims Franchise and this site (http://www.simtropolis.com/) for the SimCity Franchise (the communities are still huge, especially SimCity 4). How could I forget to mention The Movies! You can get it and the expansion pack for $9.99 on Steam I think. EDIT: Looks like The Movies was yanked from Steam a couple weeks ago in the beginning of August. should be able to find it cheap at Gamestop though. | 2011-08-19 03:22:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
Was never into sim city. I just recently stopped playing. Sims 3 was disappointing to me for some reason I can't quite pinpoint... | 2011-08-19 08:41:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
Lionhead doesn't support The Movies anymore - they said because Youtube did it better and their site usage threshold went below a critical number Lionhead seem to be really quick to drop support for their games, it was the same with Black & White Oh, thought of another Non-Violent one - Stacking by Double Fine | 2011-08-19 10:41:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
Another simulator coming at you. Chris Sawyers Locomotion. I've loved that game ever since it was released. It's one of those games you'll get addicted to for a week and come back to it a month later. | 2011-08-19 13:26:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
Gotta put a(nother) word in for Braid. Excellent little puzzle game, it's downloadable from PS Store. | 2011-08-19 19:45:00 Author: Radishlord Posts: 706 |
Try Dead Space 2! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBS86rAT4W0 Come on, what's so violent about a foam finger? | 2011-08-19 20:02:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
Come on, what's so violent about a foam finger? The punching of things IRL while doing the requirements to get the finger. | 2011-08-19 22:25:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
http://www.cdkeysdirect.com/product_images/e/777/the_sims3__71576_zoom.jpg Nuff said, if you play the game right | 2011-08-19 23:31:00 Author: zzmorg82 Posts: 948 |
In all honesty EA is the worst thing to happen to small developers. If they would just stop buying every start-up then the games today would be much better IMO. EDIT: I specifically mean related to simulation type games. | 2011-08-20 01:45:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
I don't really know what do you mean with nonviolent and peaceful game. But, if you want something with low violence, no blood and a cartoony style, play Maplestory. There is no problem if you ocassionally don't like it because it's free. What you do is to fight monsters in a cartoony style. It is a really good game. I know a friend who know a lot about the games you are looking for... his name is Google. Use it, it is your friend. I also know an excelent game for the PS3, PC and Xbox... It has no violence, and the dialogue is really funny... http://cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/41/41773.jpg | 2011-08-20 02:27:00 Author: ALEXhatena Posts: 1110 |
Portal 2 is extremely violent. You'll constantly have to be tormented by a female robot who weighs less than you and you'll be shot at by extremely monotonous turrets. Oh yes, there is a constant threat of cake as well. | 2011-08-20 03:26:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
Chess If you count that as a game or if you have no partner, try Zen Pinball, Pac-man Championship Edition DX or Limbo (violent to a certain degree but still mindblowing atmosphere. It's more like avoiding traps and deathly falls than killing enemies). ilomilo and Trials HD if you have a 360. Braid and Flower are the most commendable nonviolent games I can think of, unique and artsy. If the smacking of little monsters Mario style doesn't meet the degree of violence you were thinking of. | 2011-08-20 04:16:00 Author: SnipySev Posts: 2452 |
Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves isn't violent either. | 2011-08-20 04:49:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
I used to play Sims 2 on Xbox, I built a prison! :hero: | 2011-08-20 06:52:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
I'll go with fume on this, Locoroco. I recently got the sequel, and its a delightful gem in my growing PSP collection... Patapon is fun too, but it IS a war game, in a sense. | 2011-08-20 07:24:00 Author: theswweet Posts: 2468 |
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, the blood has been replaced with purple energy | 2011-08-20 07:48:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Lol. LIMBO is extremely violent! | 2011-08-20 10:52:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
Spore doesn't have to be violent. You can play as a friendly omnivore herbivore through every stage. | 2011-08-20 14:06:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
