Techno Syndrome by The Immortals, AKA The Mortal Kombat theme is very, VERY overused. I see it in nearly every crappy mortal kombat level, I even see it used in other levels a lot. The problem I have with this is that Techno Synrome was only used in the 1995 mortal kombat movie. Most people don't know the origins of the song and assume it's meant for a mortal kombat game. Unless you make a mortal kombat movie level, The song isn't fitting. Anyone else getting annoyed by this?

I generally dont get annoyed because people like a song they dont know the origin of. For all you know, there could be 20 songs you like that you dont know the origin of that other people dont like the popularity of because no one else knows the origin of. Youd have no way of knowing because... You dont know.

Sorry, but you can't help it that this song become icon of mortal kombat, it happens to all songs that been turned to movies themes same goes with Passion Pit - Sleepyhead, it will be always assign to LBP2

Something that became iconic is never overused as long as it fits in the context where it became an icon. That's why it's iconic. It's like Darth Vader and R2-D2 in Star Wars, the music that plays when you open a chest in Zelda games, the Super Mario NES theme, the bandanna in MGS, the "Do a Barrel Roll" in Starfox, the "It's super effective" in Pok?mon, the severed human heads in my freezer... wait, that's not right... ...ahem

Yea, level would be no it complete without it lol ^^' not to metion Mortal Kombat games are not very musical unlike other fighting games, it has tribal drummy or some quite dark tune songs without much soul, maybe this is why it become considered MK theme even if it's used only in 2 movies (which one was very successful and iconic). Also dont forget this song was made specially for MK, so it's like titanic song lot of people also dont know who made it but they know it's have somehting to do with titanic ;]

Yeah it's pretty overuse. I hate after the level, it has a crappy "Fatality" saying. Wasn't "Mad World" overuse too?

It was indeed made especially for MK, but the people behind it are pretty well known though (if you're into electronic music). It's Maurice Engelen (aka Pragha Khan, Lords of Acid...) He does lots of filmmusic too (Basic Instinct, Austin Powers, ...). cheers, misty

Well good solution for overuse is musoic creators to publish more songs so people will have larger choice ;]

Im pretty sure that sequencer is SO old, that its from the beta.. It is overused like crazy.. I dont even know who made the sequencer originally, and I bet that half the people that use it in their levels dont either... And dont give credit because they dont know. I have run into a bunch of these lateley. I found someone using one of Foofles songs and without credit because he didnt know who made it XD That bugs me :/
