is there a way of having the camera zoom out further when players move away from each other instead of one player getting a timer/dying?

There's an option on the last page (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Global_Controls) in the Tools Bag to do so, just edit the Maximum Zoom setting and zoom out with it. If you want players to be able to travel infinitely without another player (and have separate cameras) then you'll need to set your level to Versus Mode, an option also found on the last page of the Tools Bag.

I'm guessing the versus mode with separate cameras only works with online players and not with multiple players on the same tv? And thanks for the max zoom tip!! Stupid of me for not looking there

Yep, there's unfortunately no split screen option for people on the same console.

I'm not close to a ps3 now, but very curious , does that mean if I make 2 controllinaters and put them far away from each other and put two different cameras on them I can make a game where I can show 2 players different information?

You can do that assuming the players are playing on separate consoles. Mind when the cameras overlap each player will see the other's info, there's no way of making something only visible to one player.
