Your level has diverged?! Thrown back into pod?
Archive: 12 posts
Last night me and a friend were going over my last cut-scene in my level. I was working on the cameras whilst he was looking over my sackbot. we then had to reset the triggers by rewinding. I hit rewind and it kept stopping with me having to come out of pop-it. So I did it again to go back further and this is where the problem started. I was caught in a slow motion rewind (like the battery in a radio slowly dying) that would not actually rewind. A message poped up: Your level has diverged, press OK, then throw my friend out of the level and threw me back to my pod and said your level has overheated. Mind you I went back in and I'm 2-3 notches away from a full thermo. I think it said diverged as it only flashed up for a bit before I had to press OK. I have 3 copies of this level so I can always go back a redo the ending. It definitely not overheated as I can still save it and do things to it. Any clues what this was and if this is a sign my level is going to corrupt or break? | 2011-08-16 12:38:00 Author: LittleBigDes Posts: 920 |
That happened to me, once, there was a WHOLE lot of things in the level. So that probably happened to you. And, no, your level is not broken or corrupted. It should be the way it was. | 2011-08-16 15:31:00 Author: Unknown User |

Great, must be one of those little quirks in LBP create. We must have confused it by doing different things at the same time. Phew. | 2011-08-16 16:37:00 Author: LittleBigDes Posts: 920 |
it also could be because of the internet connection speed, sometimes if you guys live far away from each other, it acts up like that. | 2011-08-16 17:32:00 Author: fighterwindplus Posts: 403 |
Ah yes my pop it went all slow motion and the lasso went extra long and jumped all over my level. I've backed it up just in case. | 2011-08-16 17:36:00 Author: LittleBigDes Posts: 920 |

Happened to my brother before, now he can't acsess any of his levels and all items (stickers etc) is just a big red ! | 2011-08-18 18:28:00 Author: Unknown User |
Edit ^^ I thought rewinding was fixed - you don't have to have a internet connection for it to work. | 2011-08-18 18:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
You're kidding!? That's really not good. I can still enter mine and work on it. Hope it holds up as I'm publishing it Fri/Sat and it's taken me months to create it. Happend again last night whne a friend of mine tried to place a sticker down whilst I was rewinding. | 2011-08-18 18:32:00 Author: LittleBigDes Posts: 920 |
Are you certain it said your "level" has diverged and not the "player connection"? I get the diverge message at least once a week in Japan. It's a connectivity problem only, I believe. Data can't keep up between both PS3s so it kicks everyone and ends whatever play session (create or play). It's not a threatening problem in itself, and isn't all that unusual really. That doesn't mean you shouldn't take extra precaution and back up your profile to USB, PSN+ etc. Data corruption happens when the game gets interrupted mid-save or mid-load, and LBP/LBP2 is fraught with constant little loading moments. If your level is overheating, and you're getting divergence messages creating with a friend online, that's certainly a risk. But it's not a sign that your level is about to break. Rather, your worry should be when during such a divergence, if save states conflict, it could corrupt your whole profile. Quick solution if you don't have a USB or PSN+ account - just pop a locked version of your level, in its current build, on your Earth. Worst-case scenario, your whole project gets ruined by a save failure, and you just copy the Earth version back to your Moon. Better than losing it entirely. In short... don't worry too much... but don't leave things to fate! | 2011-08-19 04:38:00 Author: Unknown User |
ive had a similar problem where if i were to place my super sackbot in create mode, the game would just diverge. its only happened with only with one of my friends, it'll diverge even if im the host, or he is the host. everywhere else is fine though. | 2011-08-19 05:18:00 Author: sonofbrave Posts: 107 |

In short... don't worry too much... but don't leave things to fate! I have several back-ups and copies both on a USB device and the PS3. But I didn't think about locking any of them, so before I publish it I will copy it to another crater locked. I also have a very good/strong connection on a 30mg broadband uing a homeplug system directly to our router, so it's more likely the connection from the other player I'm with in create. I've had a few friends say that they're relived when they join me as the host as they don't have to put up with long loading times. Thanks for the advice. Im publishing my level later today (Saturday the latest) by the way. | 2011-08-19 10:34:00 Author: LittleBigDes Posts: 920 |
