Time Is Of the Essence

Archive: 5 posts

Hey I published a really neat level but it only has about 5 plays I saw Comphermc's tutorial about slowing time (or slowing strengths) and I wanted to publish a level of my own utilizing that logic set. What I created turnout to be really fun (for me and all my friends at least) So GO CHECK IT OUT! And I would really appreciate it if you would leave some feedback :star:

Thanks in advance,

I had a lot of fun on this level. Your platforming challenges had a lot of variation.

My one suggestion involves the slow motion effect's implementation. It seems like all of your obstacles are out of sync with the slow motion effect. For example, the section with three retractable grappling targets, where the player is meant to swing across all three in slo-mo. Frequently, I would begin swinging, then run out of time at the end, because slow motion expired before I completed the swing.

If that's intentional, and you mean to do it to increase difficulty, that's fine. But if not, I suggest making the obstacles all run at uniform speeds, all even fractions of the slow motion effect's duration.

Again, I had a good time. Keep at it.

It was actually intentional. But if you waited until the next time that the level slowed, the obstacles would be at a different point in the sequence, therefore making it easier or impossible to complete it.2011-08-27 17:17:00

I would be okay with this design choice if it weren't a race. This means that, if two competitors are close together in skill, you'll never know if the faster person won because he caught the right sync, or if he's actually better than the other person.

A minor quibble, but there might still be a middle road.

I do see your point, but I made the level so that the players would have to move as fast as they could, but still be patient enough to await the right time to cross a section. Your point is a good one, but I will choose to leave it as a race. 2011-08-28 16:31:00
