Please... Help... Cannot understand...

Archive: 7 posts

I have made a descision. I'm fairly good at making levelscapes and logic.... I just need to learn how to use a music sequencer and I'll be a three in one team of massive destruction and other stuff... with glitter.

I need someone to try and dumb down the whole thing...

Some problems I have:

I try to think of the song I'm making, and think of a note. it sounds perfect. In my mind, anyway. whenever I try adjusting the sequencer note... the sound of each note as I move the cursor disorients me. I lose the pitch of the note from my memory COMPLETELY.

I also don't like taking my time... as a logic user, I don't like spending a whole lot of time perfecting each note of a song.

If someone could somehow teach me around this, I would be VERY grateful. I would love to compose music, I just don't know how.

Help and I will give you a cookie (or two) and all kinds of other awesome praise. (Credit-wise)

I've been thinking about this lately. One solution I came up for myself, is to play notes on an electronic piano I have (it's a Yamaha, very old, but it does the trick), then set up the notes on the piano roll of LBP2.2011-08-14 18:30:00

Dang it! I wish I still knew how to play piano...

I'll just have to copy some music sheets...

Edit: Nevermind... the music I want to recreate is all written too complexly... it's like reading another language! ARGH! SO FRUSTRATED!!!

Also, there is a preogram on the computer that changes MP3 into the same form as it is on the sequencer. I don't recall the name though...2011-08-14 21:23:00

That's probably Anvil Studio. I personally think it's a pain to work with. If he's asking for an easier way, with the piano you get a sound the instant you touch the key. I believe it's the fastest way to set up a melody.

I can't really play either, I just read piano tabs from the internet. Here's a a tut on how to read piano tabs (http://www.learningpiano.net/how-to-read-piano-tabs.htm). After hitting the keys on the piano, you'll just have to worry about timing after that. It's also important to add beats and other sounds to your songs, but I think this is a really great way to start.

EDIT: All in all, if you really can't create any music, you can't go wrong with Anvil Studio like Undarivik said. Download a MIDI and have AS open the file. It's a problem if you want to create your own music though, it won't get any easier. You must also need a great deal of patience to copy every instrument note to LBP2.

I also find the sequencer...trying. I like to use Garage Band, so I copy notation from there. I find it much easier to work things out in GB.2011-08-15 22:45:00

I dunno... I tried a program called DirectMusic, but it didn't work ell for me. Exact same layout as a music sequencer, but I still had trouble. I guess I can try, yet. this will probably be a tough thing to master, and I'm not looking forward to working on it...
but if I want to be an amazing creator, I'll have to deal with it...
