Character Selection in a Board Game-esque Thing

I don't usually come to the Help! forum because I don't tackle hard logic projects like this, but I'm on the ropes here. HAAAAAAAAAALP

I have a movement system down for ONE sackbot, and the game is intended to be played with four different sackbots, chosen to move in a specific order (only once each turn). There's currently eight different characters to choose from. The four players are mounted on invisible Controlinators attached to an object that spins to put whoever's next into position (to activate the dice/movement system I already have down).

My current idea (just thought of it :B) would be to have each character bound to their own separately-named magnetic key, and have a selector cycle through all eight character keys until it finds one that's currently in use. Such a thing doesn't promise that any certain character will be controlled by any certain player, though.

If anyone would like to help me with this, I'd be infinitely grateful. You could add me temporarily (or permanently :B) to help me with this, as I'm sure seeing the conundrum with your own eyes would makes solving it much easier.

In case I sound like an idiot, it's because I didn't understand exactly what you are asking.
I would connect the selection button (preferably X) to a counter set to "1" so that the output stays permanent. I would connect the counter to the "eject player" input, so it takes the player out of his/her controlinator. Next, I would connect the X button to an emitter emitting the character. Emitter: 1 shot, lifetime forever. This way the player would eject from the controlinator with the menu logic, and automatically enter the controlinator controlling the character.

Hmmm... That helps a little. I'll see what I can do with what you described.

Maybe I can have the players choose their characters one at a time and have the wheel rotate accordingly in order to put the characters... well, in order. :B
