Some friends and I tried entering the store to get the new hott Perseids costume and some new DLC but sadly the store was undergoing maintenance and we just wanted to know when It was going to be back up and running again.

should be up soon. Sony is doing maintainance today, and the store, as well as management options are down. It's not just the Lbp store (however you can still play online, which i can safely say is a decent way of doing maintainance )

Yup, it was the entire Playstation Store that got shut down. I found out right when I went to buy the Heavy Rain DLC. Due to a strange glitch, I was able to access the store from within LBP2, but a number of packs were listed as Free. This worried me so I quit the game and logged into the Playstation Store, which in the process rejected me and said it was down for maintenance. Back in LBP2, the store was no longer accessible. I wonder if, for a short while, there was a problem where players were getting lots of free DLC?

You mean you didn't try to download one? D: Wouldn't that be unethical... Servers seem slow today... that always seems to happen after some sort of maintenance.

Oh I most certainly wanted to try! But I assumed at best it was due to an update to Playstation Plus, which often lets you have free content for a limited time, but when my PS+ membership expires I'll be unable to use the content again, and that could play hell with a level I built using even just a teensie bit of DLC that becomes unusable. Although this precise problem means LBP will probably never offer temporary free DLC via PS+, I basically distrust any free offer when it's first presented. Anyway I rather regret not trying now. ^^;
