Little BIG Planet 2

And you said, it was like fire around the brim
Burning solid, burning thin the burning rim
Like stars burning holes right through the dark
Flicking fire like saltwater into my eyes
You were one inch from the edge of this bed
I dragged you back, a sleepyhead...

Let me set the scene...

It is 2010. It is late at night. I am working at a drug and alcohol rehab clinic. I am on LBP central, as per usual... I click a video link, and I see my worst fears realized. Media Molecule has come up with a sequel to little big planet. But as the video plays, and everything is going to the beat, I tear up a bit and get goosebumps, as I see what is to be the greatest game of all time. I watch the video maybe 10 or 11 times, before going home early. It was a very happy day for me. LBP 2 was coming out, and it was perfect. It was backwards compatible, and everything I though it would not be. I was truly happy. Ecstatic. Excited. Smiling from ear to ear.

Now...

It is 2011. We take LBP 2 for granted. We no longer show the same excitement for this wonderful thing. This Jesus Christ of video games that brought tears to the eyes of a grown man. All we do is complain, and moan, and yell "abandonment." Mm gave us something wonderful. I want to feel that same happiness I felt back when the announcement video was shown. They did not default on any of their promises. We are lucky to have something so special and great. Now lets act like it.

Thank you, Mm. Thank you for giving me a level of happiness I have not felt since I was a child.

I agree, it's nice to have a game that changes every single time it's played. To be able to build exactly what you want... to be given a freeedom no other game has shown.

So thankyou Mm for giving us the power to express ourselves and bring happiness to others through community spirit!

In an atmosphere of extreme pessimism, it is easy to forget you love something as much as I love LBP. I have been pessimistic. Not anymore. This is truly the best piece of software on any platform. It is the best because it makes you smile. It lets you do what you want. It is electronic magic.2011-08-10 14:53:00

We take LBP 2 for granted.

I don't. LBP2 is one of the best and fun game maker ever...
But I'll never be 100% happy with it until they fix this...
http://getsatisfaction.com/littlebigplanet/topics/_decoration_render_bug
And I reported that far back as when i was in LBP2 Beta! >:'(
If they would just fix that one bug... then I could deal with all the other BS just fine
and would not care much. *mew

I totally agree, people are already talking about lbp3 and what it could have, no doubt that the same thing would happen with that. it's similar with the graphics of this generation of consoles, i remember a time when thinking games could look 3D was like a crazy fantasy. Now they look better than i ever thought possible, but people still complain and ***** about what console is better.2011-08-10 15:07:00

emos are ..still there..

i still love this game though

I love, no adore, no cherish, no love is right, this game of LBP. I bought LBP1 when it hit store shelves. No I take that back, I rented it first, played for about an hour, then went to the store and bought it. At that time, I didn't have internet out here in the sticks, so I couldn't fully enjoy the game. Sure I played through the story and messed around in create, but there was nothing to keep me playing. Why create, if you can't share? Fast forward a year, high speed comes available to us bumpkins, so I dust off LBP1 and jump into the community. Holy awesome levels batman! How did they? What!? Awesome! I kept playing more and more levels, going through the backlog of community spotlights, seeing what people could come up with. I sent a copy to my dad, he's in his late 50's, and he falls in love with it. My dad, my brother and I spent a lot of time playing together even though we're separated by many states. I picked up LBP2 and have sensory overload by all the levels being published. I cannot wrap my brain around how people are doing what they are doing, I mean, did you see Steve Big Guns' M.E.R.D.? I know it's old news now, but DANG! Every time I watch it, it's still awesome.

If I listed all the awesome creators that i've come across, it would fill a good sized book. And you know what? Many are members here, or the planetarium, or LBN, or LBL and I can talk to them and ask questions and 99.9% of them are friendly and don't mind offering sage advice or how to's. That's why I love this LBP community, even with all the H4H, bomb survival, and shark levels. And that's why I get a little miffed when people start complaining about this and that. It's a good game. Heck, it's about the only game I play now. I try to play my Fallout: New Vegas ( which is awesome), but I can only play for maybe 30-45 minutes and I start thinking about the potentially cool levels sitting in my queue that need playing, and it's back to LBP.

I spend so much time playing your awesome levels, that I spend hardly any time at all in create mode. Which would be my only complaint, I want to make cool levels, I've even mapped out some on paper, but you guys keep making cool levels and I just can't stop playing them. Last night I fell asleep playing someone's level. Not because it was boring, but because I just had to play one more level. I think I may have a problem. I need some LBP anonymous support.

Now I am definately guilty of complaining about the community but it has always been out of the love I have for this game as well as all the peiple that make it amazing. Honestly I got tired of LBP1 and its repetitiveness.. It was becoming harder and harder to find levels that were completely new and amazing.. When I heard about LBP2 I was instantly interested again. I watched every single beta video I could find, read up on any info I could find and started playing the first one again just so I might have a chance to get in the beta.. I was so exited I attempted to log in to beta.LBP.me almost every single day only to get denied by the OMG cat every time... Then when I got the game my profile was corrupted and I had to go through the entire first one again.. And playing LBP1 after 2... is painful lol. Despite a few bugs, corruption, not getting beta, and a bunch of bad people in the community, LBP2 is the game I have been waiting for my entire life. I dont think it will get old any time soon. Of all the games I play, I actually feel somewhat productive when "playing" LBP2 and its a great creative outlet. Best game ever, glad so many people feel the same way! 2011-08-10 18:37:00

I really have felt like crying a time or two in the past few months. I have been really depressed. And the reason I made this thread was because I realized what the reason was... LBP 2 felt like a burden to me for the first time. I need to stop thinking that way. We all do. This game is the greatest form of entertainment anyone has ever imagined. It makes me happy. I feel fulfilled. And it is because of a video game. This is not video games as art. This is more than that. This is a case of video games as transcendence. As peace. As a part of life and love and passion. I broke up with a girl partly over LBP. It wasn't pathetic, like breaking up over WoW or CoD. It was legitimate. It is my art.

Lol. Me too... But one day, I got an email from Sony.. Smiles for weeks and now I gots me a shiny vest

I love LBP2 and people are gonna complain about LBP3 when it comes out(if they even make one).

This is EXACTLY how i felt when i saw the trailer. Thanks for sharing this because everyday we see people being ungrateful and whine for no valuable reason.
