My GTA V Wishlist

Archive: 49 posts

Well where do i begin... i guess i'll start with background. We all know GTA V is coming and will be announced some time in the near future, there are just way to many signs to ignore it. I have played every single GTA game and have a great appreciation for the series and every game has things i love. My personal favorite one was GTA: Vice City!

Now that that is out of the way let me go into what I personally would want in GTA V.
NO multiplayer(if they feel the need for something just do a free roam part or Co-op support)
Improved feel (I loved GTA IV, but really missed that sillier PS2 days of past)
New City(Not a re-imagining like LC)
AN ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

I'm curious what do you guys want for a new GTA game. What makes a GTA game a "great" game?

Multiplayer shouldnt be eliminated altogether, they should just improve it, like they did in Red Dead Redemption, that was pretty awesome. Co-op would be fine, like the Co-op system in Saints Row 2. GTA V would be much better with a Red Dead Redemption feel to it, it had a great story to it, it would be even better if they did the weapon system and purchase system like they do in Red Dead Redemption, except more modernized and of course GTA-Esque. I prefer the cities that they already have, re-imagine every city AND THEN get to another city, there is alot of information towards rockstars next game here : http://www.gtav.net/

I missed the lack of cheats in GTA4, not because I want to cheat the game, but because they used to be really funny and creative.

Things like "Drive on Water," "Super Jump" and "Flying Cars" were awesome.

Yeah, GTA IV was a step backwards from San Andreas - that had so many more fun activities, like burglary, muggings, hold-ups etc.
Also, the amount and variety of weapons aswell... I used to run around San Andreas dressed as the Gimp and wielding a double-ended Di... err ... Doo-hicky.

I want them to put the rampages back in aswell - and the kill Combos - like "Elvis has Left the Building!" for running over 8 or more Elvis impersonators.
Maybe a bonus for killing an entire troupe of Hari Krishnas or something similar.

They should also set it somewhere NOT in the US... obviously I would prefer something like a remake of GTA London (maybe include some Riot Missions for cultural relevance ) or better yet GTA Glasgow!
But even if it's not set in the UK - there are PLENTY of other large global cities that they could parody.
I think something like GTA Mumbhai or some other unexpected setting would be a breath of fresh air (not that the air is very fresh in Mumbhai)

They should also add alot of the stuff from GTA ChinaTown Wars aswell, like the drug dealing and hot-wiring cars.

It seems that Saints Row has over taken GTA in terms of "Fun".

Roman: (In an excited, distinct accent) "Cousin! It is your cousin! Let's have a drink."
Niko (You): (In an annoyed tone) "Sorry Roman, I'm busy."

In all seriousness, I think there should be a multiplayer. However, I feel as though the TDM and other CoD-esque game modes aren't necessary. I found the co-op missions to be a blast, and the idea of expanding the "Single-Player" to be a two player game excites me. Sadly, I doubt this would happen which is why more co-op/multiplayer missions would be a reasonable option.

Better management: I don't want to be reading articles on the internet about Rockstar employees complaining because work has gotten so unbearable they don't feel like human beings any-more. There's a solid difference between needed, sensible crunch and unreasonable, painful, bad crunch. Apparently all the suits were feeding bullsh*t to the employees so no-one knew where they were, or anyone else was. 2011-08-10 23:42:00

I'd like more customization of my character - all the clothes and styles in the last game were - well, rubbish. I always looked like an angry, ugly guy. Where's letting us choose who we are, what we want to wear and so forth? That's the thing Saints row has that GTA IV didn't. I personally feel so much more comfortable if I can choose what I look like, and what I wear.

As well as that, it probably would have been nice to be able to customize our cars too - in whatever way we wanted - Colour, window tint, radio, lights etc. And to be able to keep more than one car in our parking space, as well as being able to retrieve our cars at the house, no matter whether we smashed it up or lost it last time or not. That way, we can always drive our favourite cars, as opposed to being chased by the cops and then losing our favourite car. There's nothing worse than finding your fav car, then being scared to drive it, in case someone shoots it or it gets damaged, because we all know it's harder than it sounds to repair the car, and not to lose it.

Oh yeah, San Andreas also had the other cool stuff with Character Customisation - in that if you eat too many burgers you get fat - lift weights and gain muscle etc.
As well as other RPG elements regarding your driving/hand to hand/shooting skills etc

And the local Co-Op Rampages.

I also liked Cycling about the place - a return of the Bicycle would be nice.

And full support for Hot Coffee aswell

Jeez, its as if youre hell bent on making the game worse.
Also: GTA games need a lot of cultural diversity, to simulate the rivalries between gangs because of racial orgin, and to add better personality to characters, it would be best to put it in america because of the vast cultures that we have here, i dont really know if they have a lot of cultures in the places where you live but i think america would be best.
This is the latest news on GTA V: "Take-Two Interactive today revealed their first quarter earnings for fiscal year 2012. Of course, Grand Theft Auto V was not announced, but some interesting points for their future were raised and questioned.

Statements included that they have some unannounced titles for release during the next fiscal year that we will hear about in the "coming months". A particular statement, repeated from the last financial report, was that they expect to exceed a net income of $2 per share in fiscal year 2013 (April 2012 -?€?“ March 2013).

Following the report, during a Q&A session, an attendee questioned how they expect to reach such a maximum without a GTA release that year. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of T2, evaded the question and diverted his answer to titles they have already announced for release that year such as BioShock Infinite and Borderlands 2.

To put these numbers in perspective, the last time T2 did reach such an income is during the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, in which they recorded $2.08 per share. In comparison, income reached $1.06 per share during the release of Red Dead Redemption and is projected to reach up to $0.35 for the current fiscal year, where LA Noire and Duke Nukem Forever have been their main new titles.

It is safe to say that the statement by T2 encourages shareholders to expect something big, or at least a high earner, during fiscal 2013. While we are not all accountants, the numbers are clear for us to draw out some speculation about a release date, and 2012-2013 has always been plausible amongst the community".

If you're looking for news, try searching "codename rush," as that is how Take-Two has been keeping the game quiet. Here they say that the setting is most likely in Los Angeles.

Hopefully they can put more money into the size, i like how Rockstar put both America and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption and kept the amazing graphics, awesome gameplay and multiplayer too, hopefully they put Facescan MotionTech in like L.A. Noire and have the vast size just like in San Andreas, if they add all of the aspects of the recent games then they could have one of the best games of all time.

The question is, when will it be released? we have enough evidence to prove that the next game is grand theft auto, but the last step in the process is an announcement, ive been highly anticipating this game ever since Red Dead Redemption was released because i was sue that GTA V was soon to come, but most of all i want to know all about the multiplayer and the characters, especially the protagonist. i think they might go for a change of gender this time or character customization2011-08-11 19:42:00

In my opinion there's 3 strong candidates for a release date.

End of April that has been the release time for a few recent GTA things.
End of May has been used for Rockstars last 2 big games
End of October the traditional GTA release time.

From what ive seen a few gamestops have leaked release dates all pointing to January 2012 but theyre more likely to release it within the fiscal year, but i wish we could tell when it was going to be announced, GTA IV was announced not too long before its release but alot of people are saying that it will be announced later this summer.

Well, I for instance, would like:

- Vice City 2010 setting. But a new and improved VC, like they did with LC in GTA 4;
- More guns:
Melee: Knife, baseball bat, manchete, crowbar
Pistols: Colt 45, Walther P99, Revolver, Desert Eagle
Submachine guns: Mac 9, Uzi, Mp5k, P90
Shotguns: Sawed off, Winchester 44, Spas-12, Protecta
Assault rifles: AK47, FAL, M4
Sniper rifles: Dragunov, PSG-1, L96A1
Heavy guns: RPG-7, M134 minigun (seriosly slows you down when equipped)
Grenades: Molotovs, Frag grenades, C4
- Larger map (twice the size of GTA 4)
- Non-urban areas, like open fields, swamps, forests, etc
- Airplanes. The character must learn how to fly them to use them (and also to gain acess to the airport(s)

That's all I can think of.

Free Roam is awesome, I don't see how you wouldn't want that.

I hope in the new GTA there will be....

More Wepons- 2 Set of each catagory doesn't do it for me.
Airplane- I love flying people!
Parachutes- I know that they had them in TBOGT, but I hope they put it into the main game.
Factions/Gangs- That would be cool if you could interact with gangs during SM and have more enemies to shoot at than just Cops.

Every globalised city is a cultural melting pot - it is not something specific to America. And all globalised cities have similar social problems with gangs & organised crime etc.
If anything American Culture homogenizes the different cultures into "American", meaning a "less diverse" experience.

GTA: Belfast/Dublin would be an excellent setting. It may be controversial (but since when did GTA shy away from controversy), but they could emphasise the sectarian divide by setting it in the 70's - & you could work for or against the IRA or something. And from what I understand, Americans love the Irish, so it would still have appeal in America.

But having another American setting is less appealing to the rest of the world.

Its more likely that theyll just modernize every city before going to other ones, the casting calls all point to characters within the San Andreas area, after all, San Andreas was in the 90s and Vice City was in the 80s, im sure people would love to see a more modern version of San Andreas or Vice City with all these new touch screen phones and such.

GTA London would be amazing, after the riots, there's no way that they say that England is full of people wearing monocles and top hats whose vocabulary consists of "What, what?" and "Spiffing.". There is gang culture here and anyway, it would allow them to maybe try a younger protagonist. Maybe a 16-17 year old? Character progression would be a lot more prevalent considering that he'd be developing into an adult and is more likely to truly make life changing decisions. It'd be interesting atleast.

Please, Please give us split-screen co-op freeroam. And better online. I want to be able to rob banks, mug people and get in city-wide car chases with a friend!
Also, a return of the silliness of the PS2 GTA games would be miracle work. (Flying cars, anyone?)
More mini-games like poker, darts, pool, and possibly drinking contests in online perhaps?

i hope that rockstar makes some kind of combo pack for cheap on ps3 or xbox, ive gone through so much trouble to find a copy of San Andreas that works for Xbox 360. i shouldnt have sold my copy in the first place, now gamestop doent sell it for xbox anymore :/. But anyways, Rockstars casting list has pointed to a character that is ONLY in the GTA series and was in one of the recent games, San Andreas, to me thats just enough to prove that it takes place in San Andreas. The only thing i want them to bring back is the MASSIVE amount of cheat codes. Flying cars was awesome. The cheats in Red Dead Redemption were cool. Invincibility, infinite ammo, etc. i hope they add that (and WAY more) to GTA V. Thats basically what the game is known for, ridiculousness and a hell of a lot of cheat codes.2011-08-13 15:16:00

Or if it was GTA: Mumbhai or even GTA: Beijing - you would see horses on the roads along with cars, bikes etc anyway.

A return to mission rewards would be good aswell... like if you did 100 taxi missions you got a Crazy Taxi, if you did enough Fire Engine missions you became fireproof etc. That was missing from GTA IV wasn't it?

How about a custom made character... Like in a lot of RPGs, since that is the way the industry is leaning these days anyways. Might as well jump on the bandwagon while we can...

Hm, I don't know about a custom character, speaking or not. I have been rather fine with all the main's we've been given throughout the series. As long as they offer free roam to a change of outfit on par or better than SA. I would rather the custom character was kept to multiplayer and just further expanded upon.2011-08-16 20:31:00

I agree the series needs to stop being so serious. GTA used to be funny. I miss that.

But dude, they HAVE t have realism (apparently) even if the game is technically so unreal and far out, they MUST be realistic so "the player can connect" to them, or some crap like that... :l

I dont understand why the game being so serious is so important. Sure it would be nice to go back to the silliness. There was silliness in GTA V most of you guys just didnt know it, I thought a few of the beginning missions were funny with Roman, and the only missions i did think were serious were those ones with Ray and Jimmy at the end, other than that i dont see where this "seriousness" is coming from other than that, maybe they should just make the humor more funny.2011-08-17 14:42:00

Maybe the controls? But i doubt the story, i actually see no difference between any of the GTAs i think you guys just dont like the "Less cheat codes" or the "New York feeling with a small map" but overall i enjoyed it the first time i played it, but i guess not any of you.

I think that the game can be fun and realistic at the same time:

No Minigun/Flamethrower/Bazooca: These weapons exist in real life, so there's no excuse not to put them. They could slow down the player as a penalty when using them.
Planes: Ok, no excuse here. Planes exist and can be flown. One option would be have a character that already knows how to pilot aircraft. The other would be a character that learns to fly in a later moment of the game, and only then he has acess to aircraft.
Minigames: Not only simple activities, but stuff like stunt racing, shooting range, plane activities, etc.
Story: In my opinion that's where GTA 4's story wins. It has the deepest story of all. The addition of choices was a great idea as well. I don't see why people complain about the story, that's the better part of GTA 4.
Driving: Complaining about "realistic car physics" and getting thrown 50 meters from a bike, learn to drive properly ******* it! While getting thrown out the windshield isn't that realistic (and should be removed), I think that the player should actually take damage when crashing at very hig speeds. Not too much, though, just enough to disencourage the player from using the car in the front as a "quick handbrake" so often.

What do I think that needs to be improved:
- Add more vehicles and planes. Maybe some "silly" vehicles like the hovercraft and military jet. They exist, alright?
- Keep the story serious, but add those "silly" bits and missions. Not too often, just to make the game more varied.
- Make a bigger map, and add areas like suburbs, farmlands and forests. And superhighways would be a nice addition too!
- More variety, more shops and buildings that you can get inside and explore. Also more places to rob, and a better robbery engine. (Like VC's, but improved)
- More clothes, but not too much. It's not a dress up game. Tattoes and haircuts maybe, but only if they don't go too far from the original character. (Like starting with short hair and ending up with a mohawk or bald)
- Military vehicles. They don't need to chase the player at 6 stars, but they could still be there.
- Stealth, in and out of missions. Don't you hate when you get 4 stars as soon as you set foot in a forbidden location?

This thread (http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=440880&st=0)from GTAforums pretty much sums my idea of a perfect GTA.

There is no doubt that the next GTA will most definitely take place in one of the american cities, people need to see a more modern version of the places weve played in the past few years, they introduced San Andreas, LC and Vice City on the first couple of grand theft autos, and then, all three cities in a 3 dimensional view. After the GTA III trilogy, we recieved GTA IV, and then two more episodes, which means that they are most likely going to remaster one of the other cities, considering the evidence that we already have and the time that they are taking to make this next game, im guessing the next game is probably going to be in San Andreas rather than just Los Santos.2011-09-03 19:05:00

You forget the GTA: London expansions set in the 60's.

I'm totally sick of American-Centric games. They REALLY need a new setting for GTA.
I'm not saying it HAS to be in the UK (though a Swinging 60's London remake would be cool) - but the world's a BIG place - they could set it anywhere - WHY do they have to KEEP setting it in America? (especially when it was invented by a Scottish Dev team).

I'd actually much prefer a 3rd world setting. Somewhere like India would be perfect - you could really emphasise the contrast between the well-to-do financial capitals, and the poorer-than-poor countryside.

But then, look at the reaction when they made the GTAIV lead character Eastern European - there was a massive racist backlash of hate because of that decision... I can only imagine what would happen if they didn't set the next one in America

Yeah, i just wonder when Rockstar is going to speak a single word about the next game theyre making. Theyre gonna release the last RDR DLC in a week or so and lately theyve been doing alot of GTA IV stuff, so it makes me think that theyre really focusing on that right now. I hope they do a trailer countdown. Considering their buddies at 2K are working on Bioshock and Borderlands they must be doing something and keeping it on the down-low.2011-09-07 08:35:00
