Piston Problem
Archive: 4 posts
Ok, now starting a little something new of mine, I created what is suppose to look like a tank with a recoiling barrel. Meaning every time it fires, a piston set to "Single Cycle" will retract the piston and re-extend it simulating recoil. The problem for me is, every time I save the tank, leave back to my pod or go to some other person's moon and I take out that SAME TANK, the piston somehow get's jammed and is unable to move. This also happened with ALL of my other creations incorporating Single Cycle pistons. I always have to fix it by deleting the connection and re-wiring it, OR removing the piston all together and re-doing it. If anyone else has this problem or knows a way to fix this dilemma, please let me know. This has become a major issue for me and truth be told... It's pissin' me off. | 2011-08-09 19:50:00 Author: illuminationx Posts: 860 |
Have you tried using movers instead of pistons? Usually, when I had isues with pistons or motors I tried using movers and rotators instead, now I try never using pistons or any of those connectors, since they allways seemed to cause me some sort of trouble. Experiment with movers and see what you can come up with | 2011-08-09 20:03:00 Author: Unknown User |
@jmanu3 : Haha yes, I have tried movers. I basically wanted to keep it simple as possible. I found that using movers to simulate the recoil of the barrel, also pushes the whole tank back xD It's a miniature tank, so basically a lot of stuff could easily move it. The piston is perfect because it doesn't flip the entire vehicle when I want the barrel to fire and have recoil. | 2011-08-09 20:39:00 Author: illuminationx Posts: 860 |

Experiment with movers and see what you can come up with i agree, pistons can be extremely clunky and difficult to deal with. Try using movers. Here's a tip tho; if you're using a mover and you want something to move in a streight line, try using a spring connector, keep it stiff and make it's strength 0%. This way it will be able to move only left/right, up/down, or any two directions! | 2011-08-21 22:42:00 Author: Unknown User |
