Ok what should I do with this....
Archive: 6 posts
I have a five part level series (4 parts are completed so far) and at first i was waiting to release all the parts at once as one big level but i still have like 75% of the last part plus the ending to go. So then i was thinking just to release them seperatley because i think my levels would get more recognition that way. What should i do. Im really thinking of releasing them seperatley but i already made a start menu/ | 2011-08-09 19:18:00 Author: Unknown User |
Depends whether you think they need to all be together or whether you want to get people hooked with the first one and drip-feed them. Both Harry Potter 7 movies were done when the first one got released, but instead of releasing them both at the same time they released the second instalment 6 months later. You could always put a COMING SOON!! logo on all the levels you haven't released yet in your start menu. | 2011-08-09 19:31:00 Author: Holguin86 Posts: 875 |
If you have a star menu, as Holguin said just have coming soon logos on the levels that haven't been released yet, and slowly unlock them as time goes by. | 2011-08-09 20:03:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
Ive never thought of that! I would do it but in my start menu there is a section selection and theres no point of it if the levels get released unlocked which is what I want to day so it gets recognized more | 2011-08-09 21:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
I agree spacing them out is a good idea: but don't say "coming soon". Use a specific date. Decide on a release schedule and share it. Since you've got a few done, it's smart to at least publish the first TWO of five at the same time, to indicate that you're not messing around. You're promising more content, and already delivering. This is a hugely important factor in convincing players to come back again and play more. Best approach is to publish level 1 + 2, then pop stickers down for where the other levels will be published. The stickers can have the date of release on them. Using the planet itself as a billboard is better than text description "promises" for each level, which is a tactic commonly employed by lazy players (guilty!) who tease "soon" for future episodes/series installments without actually having started creating them. Too many players do this, and we all know the trick. It's like saying the check is in the mail. It's not. There is no next level on the way... yet. In some especially lazy cases there may never be! BAD: Level 1 finished! Please play it! Level 2 coming soon. GOOD: New levels published every Friday. Next: Aug. 12 | 2011-08-10 02:14:00 Author: Unknown User |

As a player I may not discover your series until the third one is out so the menu would help me realize there was more content both already released and on it's way. Also I have to say I'm guilty of a COMMING SOON level, but in my defense; its BTTF themed and I sort of had to put 'To be continued...' at the end because, well it'd have been worse not to! | 2011-08-10 07:59:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
