The Titan -- Six Flags over Texas (Arlington) The first time I took my daughter on this, she told me she thought her face was going to fly off. Great ride.

Never rode one. I mean, not these collossal things people think of when referring to the term "roller-coaster". There's this kind of fair that comes to my town during something we call the "June Festivities", and a roller-coaster style attraction comes along, but it's really small. The tracks are a 15 meter long in oval shape, there's one little ramp going up and another going down halfway of the track. And judging by the speed of that thingI think we can consider it more of a carousel than a roller coaster
I never really rode one of those brobdingnagian tracks, I had a chance one time when visiting Bracalandia here in Portugal but I was five back then.

I'll be studying in Belgium this year. Belgium has more of this kind of attractions than my country so hopefully I'll try it out

I've never been on a proper rollercoaster, but as for fairground rides...

I love Orbiters, nearly made me puke when I went on it for the first time.

The most dramatic coaster I've been on is the SheiKra with it's couple hundred foot long vertical drop -

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bLkrRfdMv5s/TT7P2MJr8VI/AAAAAAAAAKk/HaocTZ1jRqE/s1600/sheikra.jpg

(It must've been seconds, I mean, like 7 or 8 seconds, to get from the top of the drop to the tunnel)

but my favorite was the Kumba, less popular but slower, loopier, and surprisingly very smooth.

That's awesome, purely because it is at the Nurburgring. It's apparently meant to accelerate at similar speeds to the F1 cars as well, hence the positioning of it at the start/finish straight...

The Raptor, Cedar Point.

http://jsnfmn.net/images/photos/places/cedar_point/raptor_1.jpg

It came out when I was in high school, and I love any roller coaster that doesn't have a spot for your feet. (Was everything neon back then? Apparently.)

Haven't been in years, though... need to go back!

The Millennium Force at Cedar Point. It is amazing. Big drops, a ton of airtime, and an all-around incredible ride.

http://cp.media.cfnslb1.cedarfair.com/_upload/galleries/maverick_photo_gallery/maverick_01.jpg

The Maverick at Cedar Point is right behind it. It may not look like much, but with its 95 degree drop, two launches, and twisting inversions, it is an absolutely wild ride.

Schm0: You should surely go back and ride the Maverick.

They were building it the last time I went! I'll definately have to go. The Millenium Force is still the tallest, no?

Oh, remind me to add you on PSN, fellow Michigander.

I always liked The Beast at Kings Island in Cincinnati. An original style wooden roller coaster that is wonderfully loud, great dark sections, tons of great speed, all while shaking the ever loving crap outta you. It just feels like it is going to rip your arm off if you don't watch out.

Wonderful fun!

I haven't been to Six Flags in years, now that I think about it! Hmmm...well, out of the most recent rollercoasters I have been on, my favorite one would probably have to be California Screamin' at Disney's California Adventure.2011-08-11 03:53:00

Well, Air is nice and relaxing, I tend to just sleep on it.

The Runaway Minetrain is a snappy little ride. Nothing big, but fun enough. Th13teen is just a lame rip-off of it, though.

Spinball Whizzer is extrememly fun too and I adore that ride, even before it got repainted into Sonic Spinball.

Knightmare's good, when it's working...

There was also this ride at Phantasia that I remember enjoying, but that was seven years ago now.

...You can tell I'm British. :/

Kanonen in Gothenburg is my favorite, but not the most terrifying roller coaster I've been to though.

All this coaster talk has got me reminiscing
There's also one at Six Flags Arlington called the Texas Giant. Old style wooden roller coaster. I love the wooden ones and this one will scare you, not because of the speed and g-force, but because it's so old you think it's going to collapse before the ride is over.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ZJSFe0AfUQo/TkPlTnTg7SI/AAAAAAAAApY/P3zk3_8TE-0/sfot-texasgiant022__medium___small__853.jpg

There's several at Carowinds right down the road from Charlotte, NC. Thunder Road -- wooden coaster with dual tracks, you ride side by side the other train. Really old ride. I'm talking, it's been there since the 70's
http://cfcc.media.cfnslb1.cedarfair.com/_upload/galleries/thunder_road/1976%20Thunder%20road.jpg

and the CYCLONE! lots of corkscrews and does a run right over the crowd's heads. cool ride.

Pfft, that's nowt here. Our theme parks have very little room to branch out, so a good number of them have to go over the pedestrian areas.

I can't really decide. It would have to be between Goliath and X2 in Six Flags. I would rather ride Goliath though because it was the first really big steel coaster that I went on. I remember I started crying because I didn't want to go on it (7-9 years old so I was TERRIFIED), my sister made me though and now I love roller coasters 2011-08-11 23:09:00

That isn't that old. An amusement park relatively near my house has a wooden coaster from the 20's or 30's. It also has a corkscrew that corkscrews over the path.

I like any roller coaster... I don't really have a favorite (although those kiddy one are pretty sick)!

Does it really count as a rollercoaster?

Yes, yes it does.

Other good rides at Alton Towers are Air, Nemesis and the dreaded Nutty Squirrel ride.

You've reminded me of this one story on the Daily Mail where a squirrel kept trying to ride on Sonic Spinball, so Alton Towers had to ban it from the park.

As it turns out, Alton Towers' remake was trying to reinterpret it with SoJ canon in mind.

I'm lucky enough to live 5 hours away from Cedar Point and I go there every year. Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, and Maverick are pretty awesome. I'm also an hour away from King's Island, and I love the Firehawk. It really feels like you're flying.2011-08-21 04:05:00

So of course, my favourite is the newish and biggest, Behemoth!

Not even because it's new and big, mostly because it has the most comfortable, non-neck-snapping seats ever.
