As Fumetsusozo, I like comedies better, but I loved Death Note though. Still, OnePiece, D. Gray Man, FMA, Soul Eater, Fairy Tail, all these are pretty good! | 2011-08-08 09:09:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |

I'm really in to "Beelzebub" right now myself. and "Arakawa Under the Bridge" was one of the best ever Animes IMO. *mew | 2011-08-08 09:45:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Fairy Tail is fantastic, if you like wizards, explosions, fantasy, comedy.. - it's your anime. | 2011-08-08 09:52:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
Azumanga Daioh is very good, very funny. Just try to avoid the English dub. | 2011-08-08 12:06:00 Author: FlipMeister Posts: 631 |
Cowboy Bebop is a classic. | 2011-08-08 12:52:00 Author: Nurolight Posts: 918 |
Agree with many of the recommendations here. An anime I LOVED which came out on crunchyroll recently was "Deadman Wonderland" - perfect plot development - and barely any rehashing. Loved it. Also agree with fume re: beelzebub! | 2011-08-08 12:56:00 Author: rialrees Posts: 1015 |
umm lets see, the melchony of haruhi suzamyia, lucky star, these focus on humor tho lucky star has no plot tho, if your into action then try watching kenichi the mightiest disciple its a mix of martial arts and i think you might like | 2011-08-08 14:02:00 Author: wait wtf Posts: 853 |
SO MAny to choose!!! O.O I watch different kinda of anime; I just liked Death Note and Code Geass the best. It was hard to figure out what would happen next--especially in Death Note. Probably the only comedy i seen was School Rumble--which was funny at first, but it got a little repetitive. Ill give a couple of these a shot, sounds pretty interesting. Dubs never bothered me, except when i want to create and watch anime at the same time lol | 2011-08-08 14:35:00 Author: Rpg Maker Posts: 877 |
Some anime I liked: Noir Black Lagoon Hundred Stories (Requiem from the Darkness) Neon Genesis Evangelion Escaflowne Slayers Urusei Yatsura Captain Harlock Serial Experiments Lain Haibane Renmei Kino's Journey Now and Then, Here and There Gunbuster Azumanga Daioh Nurse Witch Komugi Ouran Host Club Princess Mononoke, and basically all the Ghibli films Crest/Banner of the Stars Planetes Gasaraki Then there are anime like Akira and Ghost in the Shell... along with the whole Gundam franchise. | 2011-08-08 15:36:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |

Also agree with fume re: beelzebub! Oh, I've just found out about Deadman Wonderland, that looks pretty rad! Do you know whether the anime match the book? I guess they're not that close as the book is still under way while the anime only had 12 episodes... | 2011-08-08 15:54:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
you should definitely try Soul Eater. its one of the better animes out there. good plot, lovable/annoying characters... perfection for anime. | 2011-08-08 16:42:00 Author: junk-Warrior7 Posts: 276 |
My favorite animes would definitely be: FMA FMA:Brotherhood (better than the one above) Cowboy Bebop (Mushroom Samba is the best anime episode ever ) Escaflowne All Ghibli films (Princess Mononoke is one of the best anime movies ever) Definitely give those ones a watch. | 2011-08-10 14:22:00 Author: Godzilla Posts: 224 |
i reccomend beelzebub, its one of the most funniest animes imo. also cowboy beepbop,a show that i wished i watched more | 2011-08-11 07:07:00 Author: majormel84 Posts: 398 |

If you love good and engaging plots and you have the patience to go through 500 episodes, One Piece is the way to go. Gurren Lagann Tengenn Toppa is the latest fun mech anime. Other things I would suggest are all Rated R... | 2011-08-13 11:12:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I'd expect Silverleon to be here a long time ago I recommend 'This Ugly Yet beautiful world' (though mind that the 'yet' sometimes is an 'and', varies Also, even if the series is not exactly an anime, I recommend Avatar: The Last Airbender, all three seasons | 2011-08-13 12:41:00 Author: moonwire Posts: 1627 |
I'll third the recommendation for Full Metal Alchemist. As mentioned above FMA Brotherhood is superior to the first FMA anime as it follows the original source manga much more closely. In addition to having a unique setting and intriguing plot its one of those rare anime that is largely devoid of the negative stereotypes and detrimental elements that are often typical of many anime; if stock footage is used I certainly never noticed it, there are virtually no filler episodes or padding with a tight focus on the main storyline throughout, misogeny and male-centricism that is often the case with anime is largely absent as FMA features some of, if not the strongest female characters in any anime (two of the most commanding personalities in the storyline are in fact women), and while there is some fanservice it is never really gratuitous and tends to be balanced between both genders (humourously, the original mangaka of FMA has said that "Men should be buff! Women should be vavoom!") and besides some certain ridiculously muscular people most of the cast has generally realistic figures. And as said before the plot really is quite good and explores themes like kinship, comradarie, and the cycle of revenge; it also has some very good action scenes that never devolve into overblown DBZ-esque chaos. Another anime I can recommend is Baccano! (yes, the exclaimation point is supposed to be there) which somewhat follows in Cowboy Bebop's footsteps in that it is supposed to be appreciated as a "stylish" work and is set in the roaring twenties era America rather then some fantasy setting or in the speculative future. The anime adapts one of the story arcs of the novel of the same name and while the plot is actually rather confusing at first, the assorted elements and cast slowly converge together elegantly. It is also rather funny due to how eccentric many of the characters are. | 2011-08-13 16:58:00 Author: Dapiek Absaroka Posts: 512 |
anime shows not movies right? must see are Flcl Cowboy Bebop Evangelion Samurai Champloo Full Metal Alchemist : brotherhood Trigun Gurren Lagann that should be a good starting point for anyone | 2011-08-13 21:24:00 Author: jump_button Posts: 1014 |
A new anime that I like and am kinda new to is called Durarara. It's a bit chill but has a really good ending song. Also if you need a bundle of shows you want to watch try this site: www.animehere.com. Some shows have subs but it's ok. It's an anime lover's paradise. | 2011-08-13 22:22:00 Author: siberian_ninja15 Posts: 444 |
Anime you say? Caroline for ps3. | 2011-08-15 03:41:00 Author: anoken Posts: 1654 |
FlCl... Wait... has that been said yet? Greatest anime of all time... IMHO | 2011-08-16 16:07:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
I'll also back-up FMA:Brotherhood. LOVED it. Also, an old anime It's called Cardcaptor Sackura. If you like Sailor Moon then you'll probably like this one too. It has 50-70 episodes...can't remember. | 2011-08-19 21:21:00 Author: Amigps Posts: 564 |
I started watching a little Soul Eater--may be a little do dark for me--its pretty funny though. Then One Piece, i just cannot take that main character seriously lol Arakawa Under the Bridge is a little wierd, but its pretty interesting. Im really surprised noone said Bleach or Naruto--even though i havent watched either of them lol They seem to be pretty popular. Watched some Full Metal Alchemist, but couldnt i just skip to brotherhood? Samurai Champloo is pretty cool like Afro Samurai with the hip-hop vibe and stuff. And wow, Ayneh has a huge list, gonna take some time to check those out. Thanks for the recs! | 2011-08-26 02:31:00 Author: Rpg Maker Posts: 877 |
Yes, you can skip FMA the first entirely and just go to Brotherhood, they tell virtually the same story until after the introduction of Greed and quite frankly Brotherhood tells the story up to that point better as the animation is a bit sharper and trims off most of the plot fat that the first had. And I imagine the reason no one has suggested Bleach and Naruto is that most people who had once followed either have reached the same conclusions in regards to both series' criticisms. They both start out well enough but become mired in subpar and largely irrelevant filler episodes (a common symptom of manga that gain significant initial popularity that they are too quickly adapted to anime) and constantly introducing more and more characters rather then developing their main plotlines, and when they do bother with those they both suffer from becoming increasingly contrived. | 2011-08-26 02:59:00 Author: Dapiek Absaroka Posts: 512 |
Watch... -Pandora Hearts -Durarara -Soul Eater -Pani Poni Dash -FMA Brotherhood -Nabari No Ou -Baka No Test ...Well that's it. enjoy. | 2011-08-26 03:06:00 Author: sackboy7789 Posts: 280 |
Since you like Death Note, I'd recommend Majin Tantei Nogami Neuro. Last I checked there wasn't an English dub, but that was a while ago. | 2011-08-27 12:04:00 Author: Timelord_X Posts: 55 |
Quite an old one - but probably one of the most epic Super-Robot Animes of all time - it's so ridiculously over-the-top it's fantastic. Gunbuster It's also one of the best - up there with Akira IMO Another classic Anime made at around the same time is :Lensman: Secret of The Lens. If you like classic Anime, then I would certainly advise trying to get ahold of those two Also: Tokyo Godfathers is not just one of the best Anime's I've seen, but one of the best movies. But it's in a completely different style to your run-of-the-mill Anime - in that there's no gigantic robots or super-dimensional tenticle monsters etc - it's about a homeless guy and a transvestite that find an abandoned baby on Christmas eve. Utterly brilliant film | 2011-08-28 22:59:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
Another classic Anime made at around the same time is :Lensman: Secret of The Lens. I was excited (and surprised) when I first heard there was a Lensman anime since I'm a fan of the books but was told to avoid it by another sci-fi fan since they considered it a poor adaption. Is it good? | 2011-08-28 23:40:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
Well, I've never been exposed to any other version than the Anime film; so I have no comparison point. I personally think it's one of the better Animes - it's got a cracking pace and it's a classic story. Books are always better though | 2011-08-28 23:56:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
If you're gonna go Pokemon... skip the D/P arch, it sucks. Best Wishes is probably the best one so far, but go Dubbed, not Subbed! Also... Black Lagoon Cowboy Bebop FMA series' Avatar : TLA (Its an anime in my book) I would've said Code Geass, but you've seen it Also... why the hell isn't Silverleon here yet?!?! | 2011-08-29 00:17:00 Author: theswweet Posts: 2468 |
Well, I really enjoy Naruto, which is the best of all time imo. Also, I enjoy anime like Bleach, Pokemon (Only the recent Season 14 ones), Beyblade, and Yu-Gi-Oh (The old ones). These are all great to watch tbh. | 2011-08-31 00:50:00 Author: Xshaemus Posts: 60 |
The best anime in the world..... Regular Show: http://www.gamutnetwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Regular-Show-Season-2-Episode-17-See-You-There.jpg Adventure Time: http://mimg.ugo.com/201003/38278/sg18-300.jpg Nuff said | 2011-08-31 01:20:00 Author: zzmorg82 Posts: 948 |
Not really Anime... It's American cartoon. | 2011-09-01 11:23:00 Author: Nurolight Posts: 918 |
Not really Anime... It's American cartoon. Yeah, your right. Anime is more like Yu-Gi-Oh and such, but thats just, yeah. | 2011-09-01 12:12:00 Author: Xshaemus Posts: 60 |
Nobody here has said dragonball and dragonball z, death note. Dont watch dbgt it is really boring | 2011-09-01 20:35:00 Author: supremeoverlord1 Posts: 117 |
Technically, "Adventure Time" and "The Regular Show" are anime, because 'anime' in Japanese means 'cartoon.' | 2011-09-01 20:51:00 Author: Godzilla Posts: 224 |
Technically, "Adventure Time" and "The Regular Show" are anime, because 'anime' in Japanese means 'cartoon.' Most people define anime as Japanese animation, while other cartoons (like american ones) are called just that; cartoons. Im also pretty sure that's what the OP was talking about when he asked for anime recommendations. As for recommendations, I could suggest Hanasaku Iroha, The World God Only Knows, Azumanga Daioh, and Clannad. There's some other great ones I've watched that I can't remember at the moment. | 2011-09-02 02:41:00 Author: Kog Posts: 2358 |
I'm only going to mention this anime once in this forum and I'll never mention it again. NEVER. If you got 13 episodes spare time and want to watch something really weird, crazy, messed up, sexy, and immature anime on steroids, I'd suggest Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. It's so wrong it's funny. I liked the cartoony style, hilarious cast and soundtrack. I know it's very unrelated to anime you mentioned on first post, but everyone else mentioned all anime I was about to suggest, so I only ended up with.. this. | 2011-09-12 08:40:00 Author: Coconuts Posts: 384 |
HunterXhunter One piece Gurren lagann Gintama Air gear Bakuman- Made by the death note creaters. | 2011-11-24 18:07:00 Author: Bash Posts: 39 |
^^^ I was just about to mention Bakuman. I'd also suggest Rurouni Kenshin and GTO. Also FLCL and Princess Mononoke. If you're into reading manga as well, I'd suggest Bakuman and Rurouni Kenshin (over the anime), and Akira as well. | 2011-11-24 21:54:00 Author: maddoggnick96 Posts: 272 |
Lots of great recommendations in this thread to which I will merely add: Ghost in the Shell (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113568/) Ghost in the Shell II: Innocence (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0347246/) Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0346314/) Ghost in the Shell 2.0 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1260502/) | 2011-12-28 20:39:00 Author: n00bsack Posts: 59 |
TekkonKinkreet and Sword of the Stranger, both are absolutely epic! And if you like your anime dipped in insanity sauce then definitely check out Dead Leaves. | 2012-03-11 14:20:00 Author: bossveg Posts: 47 |
I absolutely hate the Anime that is popular here in the US, but some that I will recommend are 'My Neighbor Totoro' 'Ghost in the Shell' (the movie) 'FlCL' and 'Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi' | 2012-03-12 02:56:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
I used to watch Naruto and Bleach, but I eventually got sick of them. Bleach had way too many and too long filler arcs. Naruto got to a point where it couldn't go an entire episode without throwing in a flashback we've seen a million times before . And in each fight there were always these "breaks" in which the action comes to a complete halt so that they can show close-ups of the characters with angry looks on their faces. Why can't the japanese ever be straightforward? :/ The only anime I ever fully enjoyed watching was Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, because it doesn't have most of the BS present in other animes. It's straightforward, no fillers, no constant interruption of action scenes and the characters aren't constantly stating the obvious. | 2012-03-16 10:04:00 Author: SnipySev Posts: 2452 |

Anyone got any other recommendations or are we on an anime drought? I recently watched Black Lagoon--loved it. Revi and Rock is a great dou. I also am getting into Attack on TItan. It is pretty interesting so far. Here's some anime that aired over the last year that I enjoyed: Girls und Panzer In a world where tank battles are considered a martial art, schools representing nations from around the world compete to win the tankwando championship. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wly8YHLNWOQ Psycho-Pass This is a solid cyberpunk series where everyone's mental state is constantly monitored by a central computer system that acts as judge, jury and executioner. The executioners in this case are the police, and the story follows one of their newest recruits. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlneNU4GHCU Joshiraku A group of female traditional comedians pass the time while stuck in a room together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icfylmVyGlE Chuunibyou Yuuta wants to set his childish ways behind him when he moves to a new school, but one of his new classmates won't let him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuPF5WTTz0Y Vividred Operation An entertaining if forgettable series. I'm a filthy casual when it comes to anime, so all I can recommend is Naruto. Some filler is bad, but the good episodes are awesome and blablahblah. Watch it and we make Naruto RPG :kz: One of these days I WILL FINISH Naruto. I just cannot stomach the main characters voice. His name is Naruto right lol The fight scenes are top notch though, so I may give it another go. Here's some anime that aired over the last year that I enjoyed: Wow, Ayneh I never heard of these before. I am gonna give them a go! One of them reminds me of School Days, which has one of the most mest up endings ever in an anime | 2013-11-24 15:13:00 Author: Rpg Maker Posts: 877 |

You mean the English Dub? You might as well try the Japanese Dub if the English one bothers you so much. The Japanese one is about 120 episodes ahead anyway. Or if not, you could just read the manga. How far'd you get in the series anyway? | 2013-11-24 15:20:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Wow, Ayneh I never heard of these before. I am gonna give them a go! One of them reminds me of School Days, which has one of the most mest up endings ever in an anime School days is quite possibly the worst anime ever but the ending was superb. Make sure you finish Shingeki No Kyojin. It's a great anime. I haven't looked through much of this thread but have you watched Code Geass? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ7zQbMxm28 I recommend it highly. EDIT : /NEVERMIND. I read the OP. ehh. I have little more recommendations. Sword art online is meh at best. I haven't watched many other ones then what has already been said by others. Actually Kuroko no basket is surprisingly entertaining for an anime about basketball | 2013-11-24 16:06:00 Author: butter-kicker Posts: 1061 |

Actually Kuroko no basket is surprisingly entertaining for an anime about basketball Regarding Kuroko no basket, I have seen this advertised somewhere, so its pretty good? I tried the Prince of Tennis I think its called, but couldnt get into it. Tennis just isnt that exciting lol Yea Code Geass is one of my favorite animes. I put it above Death Note only because of Death Notes Second Season wasnt as good. Code Geass stayed consistent. You mean the English Dub? You might as well try the Japanese Dub if the English one bothers you so much. The Japanese one is about 120 episodes ahead anyway. Or if not, you could just read the manga. How far'd you get in the series anyway? I honestly dont know much about the story line. I played a lot of the games, and saw a lot of the episodes with fights but I would need to start from the beginning. | 2013-11-24 20:40:00 Author: Rpg Maker Posts: 877 |
Oh, by the way, you might want to check this little anime out, it's not too popular, but it is actually a pretty good indie anime. It's called DRAGONBALL Z. | 2013-11-24 20:45:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Regarding Kuroko no basket, I have seen this advertised somewhere, so its pretty good? . It's like Dragonball Z's moves mixed with the absurdity of Highschool of the dead and also mixed with the NBL. | 2013-11-24 22:17:00 Author: butter-kicker Posts: 1061 |
