Has anyone had complete strangers asking to join you in your pod
Archive: 21 posts
Lately both me and my BF have had complete strangers out of the blue asking to join one or both of us in our pods. Not after a game, but just while sitting in the pod. At first we let them join, and asked them how they came to ask to join and they changed the subject and no matter how many times we asked they did not answer. Then when we asked if they wanted to be friends, they always say no...they cannot add friends. Hmmm. Anyone else having this experience? | 2011-08-07 19:55:00 Author: gamegirl Posts: 101 |
I definitely have! I think that's because you can now join anyone, by simply clicking the Join button on their Earth (where all the profile stuff is), without them being in your friend list. It sometimes also happens to me just after completing a level. But I think that's because someone probably tried to join other players to play the level online and joined me, the host, as I was completing the stage. So, that shipped them off to my Pod. | 2011-08-07 20:03:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
Yeah.. and if you're not online you end up with a PSN message saying. Join me playing LBP. It's super fun! ARRRRGHHH.... lol | 2011-08-07 20:07:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
ya, i have that too, i just put on the auto reject for non friends when i get that.... | 2011-08-07 20:11:00 Author: calyst_aayla Posts: 217 |
The only problem with auto reject, is that I DO like to make new friends while playing, it is just this handful of players that come into my pod and seem sketchy to me when they don't want to say HOW they joined. I have not been playing or creating. Just sittin ma pod...havin a lemonade...relaxin... heheheh Any way, I have been rejecting strangers in my pod now. I was just curious and suspicious after the last PSN incident. Thanks for the feedback. | 2011-08-07 20:51:00 Author: gamegirl Posts: 101 |

And as you haven't heard a peep out of them for 15 minutes, they finally open their Pop-it, click the keyboard icon and... eventually quit, leaving an even heavier silence. | 2011-08-07 21:12:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
Actually, Dive-In has dumped me straight into people pods 2 or 3 times. I do believe that if someone finishes a level sort of... just as you get connected to them, you still get dumped into their game. I reckon this is the case, anyways, as I have been asked how I joined them directly in the Pod. Although, the join button from peoples Earths could also be a likely answer. Never used that personally. Does it work just like joining a friend? | 2011-08-07 23:17:00 Author: Ostler5000 Posts: 1017 |
I have only tried the join button on a creator's planet strictly by accident, but he is on my friend's list and I click the x just to see if he has published anything new. Then it says I am asking to join him and that really irritates me, because I HATE to bother him. LOL.... I will look at all of these suggestions and figure it out. | 2011-08-08 01:12:00 Author: gamegirl Posts: 101 |
I have been having issues with this lately as well... I signed out of PSN because I was having issues with the servers being, well, stupid. I signed in an hour later, still in create, and I got a join request. : / I really don't want to use auto reject, but all these random join requests are getting annoying... | 2011-08-08 01:25:00 Author: UberOrbPS Posts: 290 |
Well, I can say that I have not had this situation happen to me before. But, I applaud you for you valiant efforts to seek the truth. Who knows what their motives were? Maybe they just wanted your stuff or something. | 2011-08-08 01:39:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |
I get those too and its quite annoying. I have even got some in my Create Mode and I don't let just anyone in my Create Mode (too many thieves and people that like to destroy my stuff). | 2011-08-08 18:06:00 Author: Godzilla Posts: 224 |
I have gotten responses from a couple of these random in-pod joins. Diving in seems to be the issue... I hope it gets fixed soon, it's annoying to get the requests but even more so when you are the one doing the diving and you end up in the middle of a group's hang-out-in-the-pod time. | 2011-08-08 18:09:00 Author: silmedriel Posts: 64 |
Pretty sure there's no join button for non friends , only the option to invite. And I've had join requests from strangers immediately after switching the game on. | 2011-08-08 18:42:00 Author: Radishlord Posts: 706 |
I sometimes get them, which gets annoying in my opinion. I currently have mine set to Auto Reject non-friends as well; if I want to play with others, I'll just use the Dive In. If they are preoccupied, I respectfully leave. | 2011-08-08 22:07:00 Author: Unknown User |
Known bug: http://getsatisfaction.com/littlebigplanet/topics/random_people_joining_me_even_though_im_not_playin g_any_levels HAppens because of matchmakeing system is too slow to switch your status after playing level and match players to you even after you fnished level, if it's annoying for oyu you can disable join ins asking from strangers and it should fix it | 2011-08-08 22:21:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
I also have the issue of people constantly trying to join me. It's been happening a lot more often lately. When that pops up, and I don't feel like having random people joining me, I won't touch the O button. I'll leave it alone and maybe that way they will think I'm away for a minute or something and I didn't see it lol Sometimes even that won't stop the persistent ones. I can be signed out, and when I go to sign it, there will be a ton of LittleBigInvites from the same person, usually someone who I thanked for playing one of my levels. All of a sudden, they see that as me wanting to be best friends. | 2011-08-09 03:34:00 Author: InfiniteTwilight Posts: 159 |
It is pretty annoying... and I typically accidentally let people join. I don't like to just kick them either. It occurs especially when I'm AFK for a little bit and I come back and I have 3 - 5 join requests... I hope this gets fixed soon. I don't even want to mention the slappers... *shivers* | 2011-08-09 03:55:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
I still use the DIVE IN button (the trophy must be soon!), in fact, it's the only thing I 'do' use on the cool pages. Despite my natural tendency to be an unsociable loner! That's how I end up in random peoples pods (getting griefed for dressing like Hitler ) | 2011-08-09 06:14:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
i had this problem in lbp1 but not 2...hmmmm | 2011-08-09 13:37:00 Author: majormel84 Posts: 398 |
HAppens because of matchmakeing system is too slow to switch your status after playing level and match players to you even after you fnished level... I should point out for those too lazy to click on the link that this is just speculation. | 2011-08-09 18:01:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
@InfiniteTwilight: If you are bothered by receiving multiple join requests after you let the first one time out, I would suggest just denying them. People assume exactly what you suppose, if you don't answer, you didn't see it so they should send it again. This will save you both time and I doubt you'll be breaking any hearts. @tanrockstan34: I feel your pain. The accidental join accept is a real killer, especially in create mode where triangle is a common button and you really don't want random joins tromping through... | 2011-08-09 19:59:00 Author: silmedriel Posts: 64 |
