Seeking a little inspiration

I've had this idea for a level for a few days now. Basically, I want to start at the top with the player force to choose one of three tubes to jump into. Each of these tubes goes to a different place within the level. Basically, three sub-levels (for lack of a better term) independent of each other, if that makes any sense.

The problem is, I don't really know what I want each of these three "sub-levels" to consist of. I'd like them all to be different from each other.

I'm really lacking inspiration right now. I made a dinosaur out of boredom yesterday, but had to leave for work shortly after. I'm not thinking of creating any sort of epic level, just something I can work on for the next four or five days.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If this thread is in the wrong forum, I apologize. I'm new here.

Under water, fire and darkness.

Any elements will do nicely. Decorate the top of each tube with the chosen element.

Underwater could have sharks and electric eels/jellyfish.

Fire should be simple. Just use emitters to do some cool effects.

Darkness could be very dimly lit by lights and use gas in some imaginative way.

A factory would use conveyor belts and electricity. Lots of platforms with pistons etc.

You get the idea.

Now, is there a way to dim the lighting up top only? I haven't played around with the lighting effects very much.

Good point. I'm very intrigued with the underwater idea, though. Thanks for turning me in the right direction. Now comes the hard part: Making the level not suck.

You had a pretty good idea you just gave away.

I would love the help. I'll poke around with it later tonight and in the morning and see what I can get going.

If you make a lot of lights and make your entire level pretty dim.... you CAN adjust the brightness of individual lights, thus one area would be brighter then down another tunnel.
