Does anyone use rods?
Archive: 25 posts
I just noticed that in all the time I've played LBP 1 and 2, I've never used rods in create mode. Does anyone use these? | 2011-08-03 14:24:00 Author: RabidJellyfish Posts: 130 |
Not me... I'm not sure I see a point in them? xD | 2011-08-03 14:25:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Not often, but I've used them. For instance, to fix a multi-part character model in its place without glueing, so it's easier to move later on. | 2011-08-03 14:28:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
I used to use them to suspend point bubbles in LBP1. Great for connecting two objects together when you don't want to use light/dark matter or glue objects together. | 2011-08-03 14:59:00 Author: schm0 Posts: 1239 |
I used them quite a bit in LBP1 but not at all in LBP2. | 2011-08-03 15:26:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |

Well, there is another use for rods: you can use them as really slow elastics! I had a piece of dissolve with a grabbable key bolted to it, and the dissolve was fixed in place with a rod. It appears that because of the freely moving bolt, the player is still able to pull the dissolve and key, stretching the rod. After letting go it will slowly go back to its original length. Useful, eh? Heartz mai glitch!!1 | 2011-08-03 22:55:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
Heh a good question actually I only ever use them for decorative/aesthetic purposes... | 2011-08-04 10:22:00 Author: Slaeden-Bob Posts: 605 |

No but, I LIKE MAH RODS STIFF Mods that wasn't in any way meant to be taken a wrong way | 2011-08-06 05:13:00 Author: Unknown User |
ILL...I'll not quote that. I suggest changing...too many implications... I haven't used them since LBP1. Even then, rarely. | 2011-08-06 05:59:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |
To build a realistic off road vehicle you need rods. Maybe you could use rods for building a robot or something with alot of moving parts. You could set the rods to visible and use them as visuals in a level. | 2011-08-06 06:16:00 Author: Monster Posts: 180 |
Yes I use them, they're really handy for applying varying forces on multiple points of an object without them interfering with each other. | 2011-08-06 12:56:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
Actually, I can't remember what I used them for in LBP1, but I definatly did. Hmm. | 2011-08-06 12:56:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
To be honest - I've used rods a lot more than elastic and springs.. | 2011-08-06 14:09:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
To be honest - I've used rods a lot more than elastic and springs.. This is definatly true for me as well. Another thing is Sprung Bolts (is that it?). I don't think I've ever used one. | 2011-08-07 11:54:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
Lol, when i first looked at this title, it took me a while to remember what a rod is, but aside from that, I always sucked at using rods, and springs, and pistons. So i was not much of that type of creator. | 2011-08-07 17:09:00 Author: fighterwindplus Posts: 403 |
No but, I LIKE MAH RODS STIFF Mods that wasn't in any way meant to be taken a wrong way Oh hey look, an over used joke, what a non-surprising turn of events... | 2011-08-07 20:09:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
I don't think I've ever really used them. Especially not in LBP2. | 2011-08-08 00:26:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |
This is definatly true for me as well. Another thing is Sprung Bolts (is that it?). I don't think I've ever used one. I used the sprung bolt a lot in lbp to emit objects at a particular angle. Pretty pointless now in lbp2 but it was a godsend back then. Other than that I didn't really use them at all, though, you could probably get some nifty platforming going with 'em. As for rods, I remember using them quite a lot in lbp, just can't remember what for. | 2011-08-08 00:33:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
rods are really just a decoration.. atleast to me! | 2011-08-08 08:00:00 Author: vanok Posts: 63 |
It can be used as an alternative for string, its just like string except it can kind of go upwards. | 2011-08-08 19:16:00 Author: Cactii Posts: 426 |
