LBP+LBP2+All DLC Collector's BluRay!

Archive: 7 posts

It's inevitable. It's coming. I have no doubt. I just want to say I want it!

LittleBigPlanet is one of Sony's flagship exclusives. Great for all ages. Fun and creative and educational. Embodies the new era of social gaming. Now being used to help launch their new console. And it's not a typical sequel/installment type series. It's one world.

Currently the game experience is a lot of compatible content scattered over 40+ DLC packs, two games, thousands of top quality community levels (ought to be more, at nearly 5 million published, but hey) and there's now crosstalk ability coming for the PS Vita. I'll say it again, it's really ONE BIG WORLD.

Mm has said they're moving onto new IPs. Now's as good a time as any!

Let's get a special release with ALL LBP+LBP2 story levels, ALL DLC, ALL add-ons released up through the Move pack.

I have no doubt they're planning this. Just in case, though, or to speed it up: I want it!

A LBP2 edition containing LBP1's items and main DLC's like the MGS, POTC and Move Packs would be plausible. Not LBP1 levels though. The existance of LBP1 would stop making sense. And the mini costume or sticker packs, not a chance. Not in a reasonably priced edition. People would buy this hypothetical edition and the sales on the DLC's would drop dead. MM won't give up on a major source of collective profit like that. It's the world of micro-transactions, buddy.2011-08-03 23:42:00

Well most games that I buy have GOTY edtions with all the dlc included for free, so how about making that for lbp2? With all lbp 2 dlc but nothing from lbp 1. It'd be sold at the same price as as a new game.

IDK if lbp 1 had this or not but if it doesn't it should.

LBP1 did have a GOTY edition, but If I'm correct there were many DLC's at the time not included in that edition. Yes, making GOTY editions with all free DLC has become very common, but no other game has as much DLC as LBP1/2. What do you need to buy every LBP DLC in the Store, about 100??

I suppose that's true. And you're absolutely right, the new model is all about micro-transactions.

Perhaps they'll offer a high-priced bundle sale of all DLC on PSN or something, someday.

How I see it is, I am willing and ready to buy both games all over again on another disc, consolidated, and why NOT have a lot of the DLC added to that? Right now I'm a customer who is willing to pay $150 or so for that. However I'm not willing to spend $5 on a bit of DLC right now. Seems backward, but I represent that sliver of the market. Having already spent $150 or so on both games (incl. LBP1 GOTY and LBP2 launch collector's edition, and a handful of additional DLC before wising up) I think I'm a pretty worthwhile target.

I'm also thinking, there's no downside to merging LBP1 now. LBP1 players don't lose anything. But LBP2 players have no reason to go back to LBP1 except to exploit certain glitches and bring them over to LBP2, and that's something the developers would eventually patch... or make a feature and officialize it in a consolidated all-content disc release. Heck, I could even live with a toggle between LBP1 and LBP2 logic, features, etc on a single BluRay. Anyway, selling a collector's edition wouldn't render LBP1 any more obsolete than LBP2 has done. If you own Super Mario Bros (1985) and someone says "here, you can buy SMB2 and SMB3 separately, or you can have all three SMB games on a single cartridge..." there are people who are keen on that. And for collectors, ALL editions are worth buying. I'm again that sliver of the market.

As a matter of fact the whole micro-transaction model has made me less of a loyal customer. My PS3 is constantly fritzing and the hard drive gets lost. I don't like "owning" a digital item tied to a digital account where a data hiccup could void it all, or where I need an internet connection and a log in to look at what I potentially "own" when I could simply have a hard copy on my shelf. I am an old fellow, I like owning the THING. My PSN wallet has been loaded with a hundred bucks or so since before the PSN outage. The outage happened and I spent $500 on hard copies of games in a month, at stores. That's my kind of shopping. But that's also a different discussion about taste and habits and age and stuff.

I'll stake my LBPC EXP points on it, there WILL be a complete edition with both games and all DLC available someday. Perhaps as a PSN bundle, perhaps on disc. I really hope it's on disc. I want that BluRay!
