Your Play/Create ratio?

Archive: 13 posts

Hiya guys!

I'm curious about the gaming habits of everyone on LBPC.

My Play/Create ratio: 1:200

Longer explanation follows, to encourage similar discussion.

---------
When I started playing LBP2 (skipped LBP1) in February 2011
I was all play. I actually didn't even intend to use create mode, despite falling
in love with the game's potential watching LBP2 beta creators on Youtube.

Very quickly I...
Burned through LBP2 to 100%, helped others to 100%, bought LBP1 and did the same,
bought all the DLC with trophies and levels, and did it all a second time when my save data
corrupted. It was months before I created anything serious. Just had one level for
trophies (though I did not stoop to playbaiting with a crap level; it's still quite nice I think!).

Nowadays I...
try to play at least one community level each time I get online, but lately it's something
from my hearted list, nothing new, or a tutorial/object provision level for my own work.
I spend 6 hours in the game every night after work, though... and it's all in create!
It's so addicting that if I didn't have an Internet connection I'd still be playing LBP2
over other games. I tried to quit... and came back. Love creating.

So, right now I'm at about 1 minute of play for every 200 minutes of create. Ridiculous.

I rarely play levels. When I do it is those that I read about on for instance LBPC and added to my queue via lbp.me, or when I am a guest in someone's pod and he takes me to somewhere. I still haven't gotten 100% of prizes from story mode, though.

Edit: I know I should play more. A good artist knows art history.

I'd say mine is 150/200 (a guess).

I started in LBP1. I was a newb like of course. I was content with what Mm gave to me and played with it. I made plenty of friends and gained a few hearts or so for absolutely nothing. I liked bomb & shark survivals along with the excessive kart levels. I created a couple costumes, but they were usually Copyright characters. After a while, I played the game in general less and less til' I quit for a year.

I came back when LBP2 came out. I breezed through story alone (cause playing with others was near impossible when it first came out) and gathered some friends to help with the 4x. When I got bored, I tried playing story again with others...and failed. I didn't bother with community yet.

Very quickly I...
Checked the community. The levels were mainly LBP1 levels, so I didn't find anything interesting. Since I lost my previous account, I had to start a new as Shadowstarkirby and collect all LBP1 prizes again, which didn't take more than a few days. I made new friends like Ironskullkid99 and RagingGiraffe and found only 2 of my old friends. It was lonely...

Nowadays I'm...
Always found creating my own costumes or messing around in create mode without actually ever building anything. I always watch my friends build and see how their creations turn out. I'm cheering on the sidelines often. I also earn my hearts instead of them being given to me for no reason. The quality levels on the cool page come and go, so it's not all bad. I play a good amount.

That's my life story. XD

I rarely ever play levels, though recently I spent a lot of time trying to ace the story mode (Full Metal Rabbit I HATE YOU!) My play/create ratio is probably about 1/600 depending if my cousins or friends come over......friends like creating, cousins like playing. Too little to understand the logic I guess!
I just don't see any draw in playing other people's levels, no matter how much I love creating myself. Although, I am definately going to try out a couple of the LBPC contest entries, just to see if I can pick the winner
So, yeah, I know there are a lot of great levels out there that deserve to be played but I would still much rather spend my time in create mode (the annoying droning sound will be in my nightmares forever!)

well, since lbp 1 i hated to play not really, but i was never good at platformers, so i was one of the "im going to use your tools for my own epicness!" and so i did. lol, no but i never cared for the trophies, thoug i did go back later for platinum, and i NEVER posted a level for trophies, or h4h, wich when i look back is probably why it took so long to get any trophies, thoough to this day im proud to have never h4h or copy pubblished ^_^ any way! yeah i stink at platformers... so 0 to ... OVER 9000!!!2011-08-02 09:23:00

I have always spent way more time in Create mode than Play mode. I've always had a lot of fun messing around with friends in create mode. There's really not many levels I wanna play on the cool pages, and most of the time when I play, I just play crappy levels because I find them strangely entertaining to play.2011-08-02 13:04:00

I play for one hour and a half a day, normally it goes half and hour palying, and hour creating, so 1:2, though it changes sometimes.2011-08-02 14:02:00

Since it is summer, I usually sit down and play a level or two, create for 2 or 3 hours, play a level or two, create for an hour or two, play megaman, play a level or two, create for ten hours .

TL;DR, I don't sleep.

Well, since I dont even have internet on my PS3(don't ask, complicated :/) I have no way of playing online community levels. So my ratio is 0/10002011-08-02 14:54:00

If two lines of text is now a candidate for TL;DR attention spans, the Internet is in bigger trouble than previously thought! Hehehehehe!

TL;DR, Two lines too long uh oh!

TL;SDR TLTLUO!

When I was making my merc level, I'd spend up to 12 hours in create. I have never followed a consistent sleeping schedule, so, like you, I'd find myself playing LBP seemingly endlessly. As for playing levels, depends on projects. Right now, I'm about 5:1, but when making my shooter, it was more like 1:5000 (that 1 being play-testing my level ).

Judging by levels I play/publish, it's surely more than 1500:0. I play since the month LBP1 came out and I'm yet to publish a level. Unless the "Create" part you mentioned involves actual time in Create, then I guess judging by the average time I spend playing levels/creating stuff it's 3:1.2011-08-03 07:00:00

Not exactly sure right now, since it has varied over the time; from 5:1 to 1:5 (I think its around 3:1 right now). This is, however, measured by time spent in create mode, *not* by time used in published levels (if it were counted that way, the ratio certainly be over 15:1).2011-08-03 18:04:00
