There was nothing written about being imprisoned by Reh'Tahlians, but now that you here you might just as well make the best of it! But strange things are going on.. Where are the Reh'Tahlians? YT movie: Will be available soon, thanks to the epic chimpanzee! type of level: - Visuals - Platformer Note: Not as fps-dropping as the previous level, and much more fun gameplay elements as well. We worked a long time on finding a nice level flow, fun gameplay and nice visuals and I think we succeeded. The "Guidelights" where inspired by the green lightmossthingies I used in the previous level, and you wont see the last of them might even build a whole level around em. Special thanks: C_Mckamey - Thanks man, couldnt have done it without you. Fotosynthesis1 - For the nice music and as a fellow creator for this level. Asbestos101 - For music. Many testers and friends. Enjoy! Any comments, reviews and head-up's for problems in-game are appreciated! I played this last night luos and was floored. The visuals are some of the best around and the gameplay superb. I'm still scratching my head over those butterflies? Moths? that lend a helping hand. That was awesome! I loved the puzzles but had to sit my controller down for a couple of minutes on the section where you have to bounce up, spin the wheel, jump back down and move the cart then bounce up and grab the lift before it goes back up. Took me way too many times. What gets me, is I did it in one try, but got greedy going after that prize bubble and had to reset, then it took probably 20 times to be able to catch that lift. Anyway, awesome level. You guys rocked it. | 2011-08-02 19:49:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
I just played it a few hours ago, and every time I play these, it's the design that gets me. How you can get so many small details into your levels, especially with the wide angles you use at points, and make everything fit in so well just astounds me. That's always been my biggest problem when trying to come up with a level design, so to see things like this always gets my head spinning, haha. And I had the same issue as Biorogue. The glass(?) material beneath the spinner slowed me down so much, although...in retrospect, maybe if I'd jumped up, grabbed it from the other side, and used the momentum provided by the glass to fling me forward, I could've had an easier time. Gonna have to try that later. But, yeah, I digress. Outside of that, this was another level that felt really relaxing, while very immersive at the same time. Oh yeah, and the music was pretty awesome, too, haha. I always love hearing custom tracks. | 2011-08-02 20:52:00 Author: Mysteltain Posts: 59 |
this was the best level of an already great series. visuals: crisp, highly detailed and never felt too overbearing or claustrophobic. music: excellent, really fit the atmosphere gameplay: nice variety and ingenuity here, especially liked the light moss things with their synchronized patterns. good job man , hope Mm takes notice of this gem. | 2011-08-04 01:56:00 Author: juscallmeJ Posts: 77 |
Really enjoy it, but had a lot of frame dropping, and when you grab the cart you should but a gyroscope on so it more easy to move and looks better | 2011-08-04 07:41:00 Author: jump_button Posts: 1014 |
Really enjoy it, but had a lot of frame dropping, and when you grab the cart you should but a gyroscope on so it more easy to move and looks better pretty sure he can't do much about the frame-rate dropping. besides making his level way more plain. but IMO that would defeat a lot of the point of the level, with it being a visual focused level. but I did not notice hardly much frame-rate dropping myself. least nothing that hurts it in anyway. and I'm not sure what you mean by the cart? like are you saying a gyroscope while your lifting/pulling it? or you mean a gyroscope that always is on? because if you mean always, i think that be a bad idea as it'd look unrealistic and make it feel to much a 2D cardbored cutout on a rod~ but if you mean a weak gyroscope is turned on while your pulling it. i think that be OK. but i had no trouble pulling it myself though~ *mew | 2011-08-04 08:22:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Really enjoy it, but had a lot of frame dropping, and when you grab the cart you should but a gyroscope on so it more easy to move and looks better Oh all the carts have gyro's and other sensors to make it move easier. its subtle but working. Loved those firefly things, they moved very naturally, (and magically). I personally would love a level based around them. Are you thinking something similar to those Crash Bandicoot levels? I did put off playing it due to the frame rate warning, but didn't notice much of it to be honest. Switches were nice too. Didn't notice any gameplay niggles, although I didn't have a thorough playthough (due to the fact that I wasn't sure if he scoreboards are/were working or not.) No further suggestions come to mind. MM pick well deserved. (took MM long enough, geez.) | 2011-08-14 09:27:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
