Hey all, just joined the forum. I haven't yet purchased my PS3 yet, but my daughter and I are very excited because she's been wanting to play this game since it first hit store shelves. I do have one question, and I apologize if this is not the appropriate forum for it, but: LBP 1 is a bit old now, and of course there's LBP 2. What's everyone's opinion as I'm going to buy my ps3 this week... should I purchase and play LBP 1 before buying or playbing LBP 2, or should I just buy LBP 2 and skip 1? All opinions welcome.

I would say LBP1 into LBP2 because it will be hard to go from LBP2 down back to LBP1. Anyway, welcomezzz to the site, enjoy your stay.

Welcome to lbpc jnaut, it's good to have you here. I would definitely get LBP1 first. Collect all the prize bubbles you can, as these contain the stickers, decorations, and build materials to start crafting your own level. Then pick up LBP2 and all the items you collected in LBP1 will transfer over to LBP2. Plus, LBP1 just has a certain charm to it. The very 1st time you play it is an experience not to be missed, and like Craigmond said, it would be hard to play LBP2 then go down to LBP1. Make sure to get the game of the year edition.

All opinions welcome. That means an orangutang like me can answer the question? Excellent. You could get them both new for the price of a new release if you shop around, so you might as well get them both as items from LBP1 carry over into LBP2.

Thanks for the replies. Per the small (but unanimous) response, I bought my PS3 and picked up LBP 1 and started playin'. The game is every bit as good as all of the trailers, videos and reviews said it was.

Welcome! Glad ya made it! Glad you got LBP1.. it is just too charming not to play as well as the cool prizes you can pick up. Especially if you get into creation or just like messing with lots of costumes and stickers. Have fun!

That's a very tough question. In my honest opinion, once you go to LBP2, it will be extremely difficult to go back to LBP1. If you do not play LBP1, you'll miss out on all the materials and stickers from it. In the long run, it's probably better to get the first game, get 100% completion and acing on all of the levels, then do the same in LBP2. I see you already made your choice... and a good choice it was! Welcome to LBPC.
