emitter help

Archive: 12 posts

Hi,

I'm having some troubles with the emitter. I'm trying to emit an object i made in the back layer but when it emits it's in the middle layer.

Once it emits i can bump it back a layer still. I've tried it on several emitters and they all do it, and if i change it to a similar object then it fixes the problem.

thanks

Balunn

When you set up the emitter and choose the object to emit and its location, you are also able to select which plane to emit it into. Now if you already knew this and it is still emitting into the wrong plane, then I'd say there's a problem. Perhaps someone else knows the cause and/or a work around for it.2011-08-01 13:16:00

Hmm... Odd. I can't say that I've not seen the behavior before, but I don't what causes it. Lemme ask you this... Are you doing a live capture of the object from the emitter, or did you capture it first then place it in the emitter from your goodies bag?2011-08-01 14:42:00

Is the object you are emitting from your saved items or in game. If its in game then save it and emit it from your poppet menu. I have found that this helps.2011-08-01 14:44:00

This.

I too have found that I sometimes get the behavior you are describing if I emit dynamically (especially if I move the original, captured object in my level).

Does your emitter by any chance go a layer back and forth between the layers before emitting?2011-08-01 14:53:00

no. the emitter is stationary on the back thin layer

There is a chance that you have something behind it when you cepture it. If there is anything behind it could bump the part you want into another plain. That could be your problem.
I was working with one of my friends on a portal level, and it always emits the portal in the back layer, even after several times of cepture and tweaking where it is emited. Your problem could also be like that, which I have no idea how to fix.

I cant think of anything elce that would cause it... but ill keep thinking. I hope you get this sorted out.

Did you try just replacing the emitter with a new emitter? That might fix it.2011-08-03 01:12:00
