LBP2 wont start

Archive: 6 posts

Howdy folks, I have searched and can't find an answer

I got LBP when sony had it free and loved the game and got LBP2. When I put the game in my PS3 and load it, the screen goes dark and then beeps once and stays dark. They only thing I can do is reset the PS3. I tested the disc in another PS3 and it works fine. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't mean to cause alarm, but there's a decent chance that your bluray drive is on the way out. Is your ps3 an older fat model or a newer one? Either way, make some backups of anything on your hdd you can't stand to be without (a good idea even if your system is fine). You might try getting one of those compressed air cans for blowing dust off of electronics and shoot it into the ps3's vent holes and disc drive and see if that helps--could just be a bit of dust on the lens.

On the other hand, occasionally a disc just doesn't seem to agree with a particular disk drive even though both seem to be fine otherwise. I have no idea why, but it happens now and then. If blowing the dust out doesn't work and your ps3 can still read other disks, you might try taking your copy of the game back to the store and exchanging it for another one.

I should hope its not the drive, I only bought this PS3 in February. When I get out later today, I will try to exchange the game at game stop and hope that fixes it. And all other games work fine on this PS3, I was even able to install some of the extra's from the LPB2 Disk to the HDD2011-08-01 16:26:00
