Bored and Want an Opinion? (PLEASE read info)

Archive: 81 posts

UPDATE: I'm available again. Keep requesting, I'm never really too busy.
This is my first time in the "Reviews" thread (posting this ATM). I did a bit of skimming around and didn't know exactly how to start. So you want an honest review on your level? I'll gladly do it! So it'll go like this:
-Give (of course) the LBP.me link and the title (clip is optional)
-I'll review it in a reply and will have a picture taken in the level
-I grade through quality, effort, and visuals
-I usually play alone, so levels that are able to complete with a single player would be nice
NOTICE: I might not be on all the time, so don't expect me to reply quick as lightning. You don't have to wait after I make a review on another level, but just don't post too fast! (Although I don't expect this thread to get much attention, anyway).
So post away!
.___. I think...
EDIT: For future reference, please don't give me demos, showcases, or extremely hard levels. Thank you!
Hatsacks UNITE!

Nice, we got another review thread.

Well, if you don't mind reviewing a LBP1 level, would you check out mine?

Title: Sinner's Redemption
Link: http://lbp.me/v/3hcswv

It's basically a story-based platformer that is quite challenging and has two endings. Hope you enjoy it.

Wow, thanks for everyone's requests! I didn't think this thread would survive.
I still hope it will .
Well, sorry I could't get much done in the past few hours. It was kind of late at night. I also can only be on the PS3 for two hours, so I'll get to everyone's levels very soon. Thanks!
EDIT: I queued everyone's levels so far. I'll be extra sure to get to them .

Hey there i have i would really like a review on my Castle Defence level. http://lbp.me/v/0egy-8
Its a top down multiplayer Vs survival sort of level but can be played and finished one player. I tried to change it to Co op but it wont let me for some strange reason.
There is a lot to it and it took me quite a few months to create. It was originally a test for a RPG i am planing on making but i liked it so much i made it a level.

Please take your time as the level isn't going anywhere.

PSN:romancrisis
Level: Sinner's Redemption
I have to hand it to romancrisis, this level blew my socks off. It has a clever story, great characters, and great gameplay.
This level is fun and challenging. The platforming is clever and resourceful, and the atmosphere really supports the play. I especially like the story because it's original and something uncommon in LBP1. The only problem with the story is that it isn't really taken into consideration throughout a lot of the level. I thought at first that your actions throughout the level would affect your fate, but only one decision at the end does. But that decision is a real headscratcher, and it keeps you wondering and wanting more.
The visuals are great and support the mood of the level. It resembles a dark underworld and reminds me a bit of "The Weddings" theme. The lighting can be a small problem at some parts, but it doesn't really affect the gameplay.
Romancrisis obviously put a lot of effort into this level, and its quality proves my point. If I were to rate this level out of 10, I'd give it a 9.5. It's fun, original, uncommon, and a great level if you want an interesting twist in the story. The only problems are pretty much the lighting at some parts and how most of the level doesn't affect your fate. Other than that, a great must-play.

PSN: StaticLinuxpro
Level: Davinci Platformer
This level is a Davinci themed platformer (obviously) that might sound like any other Davinci level (as there are many), but really stands out from the crowd.
It's a bit short, which made me sad. It's a great level, and should be a bit longer. The fun platforming and challenging obstacles make up for it. I played this quite a long bit ago, and it's kind of short, so there's not going to be much in this review.
The visuals are great and really capture that "Davinci theme". The path twists and turns so it keeps you going. Although Davinci levels are a bit common, and no one really strays far from the original theme, this level stands out. It contains the obstacles from Davinci's place, and also contains different obstacles and platforms. It stays different.
StaticLinuxpro probably spent a lot of time on this. Though that Davinci look is easy to capture, and again, these kind of levels are a bit common, he/she found a way to stay original with his platforming elements. It's fun and leaves you wishing there was more.

PSN: DoodVogeltje
Level: Tubular Bells - Mike Oldifeld
This is a music/ cinematic level. I've never heard of the song it plays, so I don't really know how to review that. But even so, the music is great and captures the mood (it's a black/ white level). I really enjoyed how the stage moved to the music. This level holds many surprises. I had other levels to search (before my stupid internet shut down) though, and the level is long, so I sadly could not finish it all.
The visuals match the music. The music starts out quiet and simple, and then other instruments join in, adding movements on the stage. There are lights, moving parts--and yes--even eyeballs. There's a giant machine that appears (to me) to be an organ (the instrument organ). The lighting also adds to the mood greatly, and the color is drained. This level has a ton of feeling and keeps you listening as well as watching.
It is hard (for me at least) to make a music level. Especially one that has a stage that moves in sync. The effort taken to make this level is shown through how well made it looks and feels. The only con is that it kind of drags on. It's a very nice level.
I'll review other levels later on. As I've said before, my internet was down for three days, so I couldn't get to you. Sorry

NOT spamming, just reviewing.
PSN: lordwarblade
Level: Castle defence - Siege of the ___ed 1-4 Players (EDIT: Title has mild language. Sorry)
This is a level that's great visually and to play. I didn't last too long, though. Even though I honestly do not favor top-down fighting levels, this one has earned a special place. Defend your castle as a top-down warrior/wizard/blah blah blah for as long as you can. No boring towers.
A beat-em-up level that has you fighting things for as long as you can. That's what this level is. Though, you're using holographic weapons. You can use special abilities or your weapon to defend the rather beaten-up castle.
This level looks amazing. It takes place in what seems to be a medieval setting. Enemies try to attack you/your castle and you have to defend both. The scenery supports this idea as it looks like a place that a battle would take place in. Not all clean and dandy, dark and on fire. I like war levels that way, not my toast. It actually sticks to an attractive theme and keeps you interested. The lighting is great, and really brings out the scenery. However, there are some dark bits, and it can be hard to see sometimes. Sometimes the deadly gas/fire can get overwhelming and make the game lag a bit. This is when I froze sometimes. That's never a problem most of the time, though.
(L)ordwarblade obviously spent a great amount of time on this level, as it looks and plays great. Sadly, I didn't last too long and didn't replay it, so I didn't experience much. But it's so fast-paced that I experienced enough. This is a great level, but it can be glitchy sometimes. The bugs aren't really ever a problem. I'd give it a try if I were you.

PSN: liamdaniels
Level: Calamity Cavemen Chronicles PT2 (LBP1* ~Updated For LBP2*)
This is a platformer/adventure level by liamdaniels. It's funny and clever, and has an interesting but slightly haphazard story to it. The grammar is understandable, but it can get confusing at some parts. The camera angles can be a bit of a problem, and the level is a bit short, but it's fun nonetheless.
This level looks good. There are some parts that could use a biiit of fixing and tweaking, and some of the scenery confuses me, but that doesn't really interfere with the gameplay. The characters are--I have to admit--a tad uncreative, as they're only the sackboy shape with some stickers, but the funny random story and fun gameplay make up for it.
This level is a bit easy and short, but there's apparently another part. I didn't really know until now. Pros: Fun, easy, funny, creative, and bright. Cons:Slightly confusing, scenery that needs some tweaking, and bland characters. Obviously, the good outweighs the bad.

PSN: kowch_potayter
Level: inFAMOUS 2 Sackbot Demo(From Playable Demo) UPDATED 8/1/11
Another inFAMOUS 2 sackbot demo. What could possibly be special about this one? Everything. This level features a Cole sackbot with nearly all of his powers. I couldn't really figure out some, but I eventually got it. The powers are beautifully made and accurate.
This level has an amazing scenery even for a little demo. The buildings look real, there are characters walking around, and it just looks great. It looks like a real city. The powers even look good (before they eventually explode).
(K)owch_potayter probably spent very much time tinkering with this level. I should know, I love making sackbot levels, and they're very hard to make. The tools, the controls, the bugs, the stage (ugh)...kudos kowch_potayter. This level is great.
I'll review the other requests very soon. I've already got them queued. Thanks!

Thanks Sackpapoi for the review i am glad you liked it.

No one has ever mentioned the lag before. If it is because of the fog then i will try to cut it down or remove it.
If you survive long enough then you fight a mini boss and then a giant Hydra at the end so the level is actually winable and not just a forever lasting fight.

The visuals are something i am most proud of. The dark areas are light on my TV as i have a very good LCD LED Full HD TV so its hard to get the lighting right for other people but i will try to lighten those areas up a little.

Thanks again.

Thanks everyone for the requests. And to those of you thanking me, you're welcome. Here are three more reviews. (BTW I see that there are some more requests up there. I'll get them done .)
PSN: kowch_potayter
Level: Davinci's New Hideout
I told you that Davinci levels are common! That doesn't dock this level's points, though. It's a somewhat too challenging platformer that takes place in Davinci's remodeled hideout. Sorry potayter, I couldn't finish all of it because I couldn't do this nearly impossible part (I don't remember exactly which one) and at that point I just had to move on to the next review. Anyway, in this level you swing, bounce, jump, run, and die (lots of dying) your way through a familiar yet entirely different Davinci's Hideout. There are attractive little secret bubbles that give you a lot of points. I don't know how long/ short this level is, as I couldn't finish it. Platforming takes on all directions in this level. I died during vertical platforming. It's fun, but there are several frustrating bits that have you trying at least more than ten times. (FYI potayter, the slanted bouncepad at the beginning doesn't work very well. Just letting you know.) Even so, this level keeps you going.
Visually, this level is great. It looks very much like Davinci's place. What makes this Davinci themed level special is that it doesn't just plop the elements of a Davinci level willy-nilly all around the place. The mechanisms are impressive, too.
(K)owch_potayter obviously spent much of his time on this level. The extreme difficulty kind of hurts that score, but you can get around it if you really try. If I were to rate this level, I'd give it a 9/10. It's really cool and interesting, has great visuals, and is fun. Unfortunately, the difficulty really gets on my nerves, so I'd recommend this level to more experienced and patient players.
(I have to rush now, so the next few reviews aren't going to be TOO long).
PSN: jrichards16
Level: Space Mini Level
This is sort of a demo level. The concept is cool and fun, and I would like to see this as a full level, but the logic could be much more complicated, and the visuals could be more attractive. It is also short. You play as what appears to be jrichard16's GIANT sackboy, and you enter a simple looking spaceship on a simple journey to a simple looking planet (that is literally a circle that says "PLANET"). Yes, this level's visuals are extremely simple. The "floor" is still visible, and the shapes are easy. But don't let that drive you away. The concept of this level is really quite interesting. You go to the planet to collect crystals, and you can be influenced by its orbit. The gravity is a bit unrealistic though, as you are completely free of the planet's gravitational pull. It doesn't have to be real, though. It's a fun game. I couldn't get the crystal collecting down, but it's still enjoyable.
I'm not exactly sure if jrichards16 meant to spend a lot of time on this, as it is very simple and is only a demo. He probably spent a lot of time brainstorming though, because it's a good concept.
PSN:jcb4848
Level: Technical Difficulties!
This is a sackbot level about a sackbot who yearns to escape a lab and all of its sophisticated machinery. It is 1-2 players only. This level tickled my fancy because of my love of sackbot levels. Sadly, the visuals at some parts are very unattractive and there are many bugs and difficult parts. This is unfortunately another unfinished level due to difficulty. On a positive note, this level has a good story and a nice set of puzzles.
Time for judging of the visuals. Unfortunately, the visuals in this level could be better (at most parts). The beginning looks amazing, but after about thirty seconds of walking, the scenery's quality died down. There were blocky...blocks...and some parts that could use corner editing. Some parts were confusing because of the visuals. Sometimes there were designs in the wall that were supposed to be As (am I right jcb?) but looked like staircases.
I'm guessing jcb spent a lot of time on this. I mean, visuals aren't everything. The controls aren't very tight, and the checkpoint after the lever puzzle doesn't work (also I can't pass it). The story is nice and sackbot levels are difficult to make, so I can understand if there are a few glitches. This level just needs a bit of tinkering.
P.S.-Sorry for the kind of harsh review jcb4848, but reviews ought to be honest. Maybe I could help you fix it if you ever feel the need to do so? I'm great with sackbot levels.
I'll queue the other requests (yes, I see you). For future reference, please make sure your level isn't impossible or glitchy, and please don't give me demos. Until next time! Thanks again for keeping this thread alive (and giving me an extra green bar). .

First off, kudos for those great reviews even if they are piling up quite a bit.

But would you be still willing to review a level from me?

It is another story-based platformer but with a lighter mood and it's actually a level I published before Sinner's Redemption. I just recently fixed alot of bugs/glitches in it and now Im hoping it's more playable in LBP2.

I understand if you won't check it out as you already have tons of requests, but still many thanks for your great reviews.

Get ready for an extremely LONG review.
PSN: Glrolten
Level: Jungle Warfare
This is a Creatinator themed level. As are many other of Gl's levels. Sadly, this is once again a level I couldn't finish due to difficulty (please everyone, make sure your level isn't too hard). You go around on a "boat" (it's a block of sponge) shooting at enemies who have absolutely perfect aim. Erm, that's pretty much it.
I'm very sorry Glrolten, but the visuals on this level could use A LOT of work. The boats are blocks of sponge, and the only other thing is water. Now, I can't really judge it too much because I couldn't finish it, but from what I saw I conjure this opinion. Meh, visuals aren't everything. You could make this a really good looking level if you wanted to.
Honestly...I don't know how much time Glrolten spent on this level. I mean, it looked pretty simple and easy to make. The mechanics weren't really hard to figure out, and it was pretty much water and sponge. But, with more tinkering and heart, this level could be very nice. Keep on going, Glrolten.
Level: Sci-Fi Warfare.
Another level of Glrolten's. I can't say much, as it's almost identical to Jungle Warfare. The scenery is a bit better, and you venture through a blocky war zone, but that's pretty much the only differences besides the theme.
I have to admit, the visuals are definitely better than Jungle Warfare's. There's a ground, some walls, some rocks, and nice fire all over the place. But that doesn't mean it's perfect scenery (sorry). It's a bit blocky and bland. But a war zone isn't supposed to be pretty. Although it isn't really supposed to be geometrically perfect, either.
In my honest opinion, Glrolten did better on this than in Jungle Warfare. Better scenery, better gameplay, but not so much easier enemies (curse them!). It''s a good start, Gl. I'm sure you'll improve even more in the future.
Level: LittleBigPlanet University: Ukraine
The last of Glrolten's level reviews. This is a pleasant little project on Ukraine. It presents real facts about Ukraine. Now this is a school project, so it doesn't really have to be perfect. But now it's my turn to grade (<<<cheesy). This doesn't really fall into any specific level genre. There's no platforming, no dying, no driving, no flying. Just a peaceful walk through a small Ukraine village. Along the way you are told facts about Ukraine. Yay! You learn something.
Sadly, this level isn't exactly eye candy. It shares the same conflict with Gl's Warfare levels. It's interesting though.
This was a review on a school project. I don't really know what to say. Well, level wise it's short and could use a makeover, but educationally, it's great! If you just don't want to go to school to learn something, play this level. You'll learn a thing or two.
PSN:YUBOY3
Level: Insanity (1 Player)
This is an interesting thriller level by YUBOY3. It's fun, dark, nice looking, and over everything else, has an incredible story. I died and had to go to the next review, but I came crawling back because I was SO INTERESTED. Apparently, it's a story about an insane Sackboy who was thrown into an asylum. He/She's a killer and had killed five people before being arrested. That Sackboy/Girl keeps having awkward visions and flashbacks about his murders. There's another madman in the asylum with you, and he tries to kill you. (SPOILER: Highlight the blank area to read it)That insane weirdo is you. You are trying to kill yourself. I told you it's surreal. The whole level has a nice surreal feel to it.
The visuals are decent in this level. They're not at all bad, but simple and clean. Simple squares, circles, and rectangles are used. The only downside is some areas just feel empty and dull. It's the perfect scenery for an asylum. There are some awkward areas, but it's supposed to be a bit surreal. There are very few blobby/blocky parts.
This level is great. I like the story, it's not too difficult, it's not too short, it's has a decent scenery, and it's fun. It keeps you wondering about the characters and the plot. Even if you already have finished it and figured out the mystery, I would replay it. I did.
Level: Before Insanity
YUBOY3 explains the whole "Insanity" ordeal in a prequel to "Insanity" with the straight forward name of "Before Insanity". Your Sackboy appears in a nice looking house with a few stories. Each room holds a secret and a flashback. (Again, SPOILER: I can't find the spoiler hiding tool in here XD). One room has a chair that you strapped an innocent Sackboy to. You killed him with spikes. Outside to the right there's a car. You apparently exploded that car with a Sackboy in it. Further outside there's a fountain. You drowned a Sackboy in that. There's also a tree on fire. That has no flashback. There's a bench far outside to the left. You hacked a Sackboy to death with an axe on that bench. Inside there's that infamous electric chair. Of course, you just had to shock a poor little Sackboy to death on that. I don't remember if there's more, but I'm pretty sure that's it. For almost all of the killings, you used a handy universal remote. Who'd want to get their hands dirty when you can just press a button and KABAM!? He's dead.
The visuals are also pretty decent in this level. you enter simple looking buildings with big stairs.
This level also has that dreamlike feel to it. You're going insane and know it. This is all after you killed those poor people, so once you get out of the house, there's a fancy looking police car chasing you. And just when you think you escaped him, a helicopter chases you. This level is a bit more down to Earth, as it's only a flashback. Even so, it's great fun. It's pretty short, though. I liiiiike it .
PSN:AbsurdAj
Level: Kingdom Hearts Music Collection
Now this is just a music collection. I can't really review this, as I said earlier. So I'll keep it short n' sweet. Like a puppy.
Visuals don't really count. Music is displayed on blobs of dark matter with stickers related to KH. Actually pretty accurate Sackbots of KH characters briefly act out the scene the music first appears in. The music is pretty awesome. It's accurate and beautiful. I especially like the battle music. I didn't really play KH, but I owned it. it was pretty cool. I would check it. out. It's great for fans, as it's accurate and has catchy music. Other than that, it's only a music collection. For future reference, please don't give me these. I can't review them. I'm not a music studio.

Well, that's all for today. Hope you all liked it. Glrolten, remember to keep on keepin' on. Practice makes perfect. Keep up the good work, YUBOY3. Erm, Aj...just keep making good music. Thanks to everyone

It stopped working after I died twice. The sackbot just disappeared. But you don't fail. It just needs a bit of work and buffing. I'm sure with a bit of tinkering it could be a lot better .2011-08-12 18:33:00

Yay! The next review.
PSN: Sackboy223
Level: The Lost Temple of Juh'DohThis is an adventure platformer by Sackboy223 that takes place in a temple inhabited now by only plants. It's relaxing and a nice platforming challenge. Jump from rock formations, swing on vines, and solve puzzles. This level has you moving and thinking.
The scenery is great. It looks like a temple overtaken by plants (and that's because it is one). There seems to be alternate paths, but I never went on the others. The scenery is very involved in the gameplay. There aren't poinltess little cutscenes that show of fancy little contraptions, there aren't little blobs of random material all over the place, and it's relaxing. However, there are some vines that cut through the temple rather unpleasantly, but there aren't many of those.
Sackboy223 obvioulsy spent a lot of time on this level. A great scenery and great gameplay, just what has to be in a great level. His platforming methods are creative and original, and the level isn't too lengthy and proud of itself (as in pointless cutscenes showing--say--a bouncepad turning on). I would definitely play this level again.
Great job, Sackboy223 (also thank you for recording Different for me).

PSN:nightshade94123
Level: ContainmentThis is another top down shooter. It's a bit of a remake of the classic top down alien shooter. You start out in a ship on day 3 of a very very VERY long voyage. There's a nice little holographic face that explains to you what is going on. His humor is decent, too. He suggests that you pass the time with a top-down arcade shooter (oh yeah, an arcade shooter's REALLY gonna make 400 days on a ship fly by, lol). The little introduction is very pleasant and creative, but it doesn't really contribute to anything but the theme.
The scenery is amazing. It really looks like you're in a ship, and the top-down scenery is great, too. It's a very grid-like background. The little ship you play as is very simple, as are the enemies. They're pretty much just shapes that shoot more shapes. It's supposed to be an arcade-ish theme, so I guess that's cool. The menu and hub are both attractive, though not much can be done there.
(N)ightshade obviously spent a lot of time on this level. It has a nice little story, but it's pretty haphazard as it only sets the theme. The controls are tight, but hard to get used to due to determined enemies trying to kill you. I think the enemies come out too fast and are a bit too difficult. The colors are nice and bright, and don't really get too annoying like in other retro levels. The gameplay is pretty commonly used, and the neon-look is too. The quality of this level is one thing that isn't common. It's a bit frustrating at times, and can get repetitive. I wouldn't call it addicting, but it's fun.

Thanks for reading this review. I'll come with the next review very soon. I see your level, Arbiekko. I'll gladly play it for you. Until next time!

Ooh, look. A tiny review .
PSN: romancrisis
Level: Trial of the Goddess
Another great level from romancrisis. I think I've reviewed all of his levels so far (I hope he makes more!). Anyway, this is once again a destiny-based platformer. Even though all of roman's level's are destiny-based (levels that have different endings based on actions), they're all very unique. In this particular one, you have to platform your way through Grandmaster Sensei's castle, taking her advice and avoiding tempting point bubbles. You have to follow the path she marks, and not stray off of her path to collect points for yourself. You either end up in Heaven or Hell.
The visuals are amazing. It resembles Sensei's theme, and doesn't taint it with a bad setting. It's not an original scenery, but roman made it look even better than before. As usual, the scenery cooperates well with the platforming. There are huge point bubbles hidden in little caverns or crevices. Sometimes they're just plopped in plain sight to tempt you even more. The bubbles do not corrupt the scenery, and neither does anything else (enemies, platforms, blocks, etc.).
(R)omancrisis most likely spent a lot of time on this level (as did he with the other levels). It's beautiful, fun, challenging, and creative. I didn't see the Hell ending, but I'll definitely come back to try and see it. Good job, romancrisis. I look forward to reviewing future levels by you. Keep on creating .
Well, that's the teeny review. I'll look into the other levels a little bit later. Thanks everyone!

Here are the rest of the levels. I think I'll start adding pics of the levels in later reviews.
PSN: Unexpecter
Level: A Perfect World
This is a level by Unexpecter that takes place in...a perfect world? The setting changes as you run along. The story was not clear to me, but whatever it was, it's really deep. There's a techno area, an underworld-like area, a relaxing environmental area, and probably even more. No, Unexpecter, I didn't finish your level, I'm sorry. It fried my brain with difficult platforming and confusing paths. After several tries (and by several I mean around twenty), I got past the first playable part and into part two. Unfortunately, part two wasn't much easier. After many trials, I gave up. I promise I'll try again some other time, maybe even with another review since this is my first review on one of your levels.
The scenery is decent. Some parts (like the forest-like area) have unpleasant blobs cutting through the scenery. There are some areas that could use remodeling, but other than the previously mentioned problems, the scenery is fine. The techno areas look the best in my opinion.
It's my guess that Unexpecter spent a lot of time on this. Sure, it's difficult, which usually docks the effort score, but not all levels have to be a cakewalk. Just be sure to test your levels before you release them. Since you've repeated your level hundreds of times, it may seem easy to you. But to others, it may be impossible. It's a whole series, and others seem to like it. The majority of players apparently want another part, so I'm looking forward to it to.

PSN: YUBOY7
Level: The Deep (Demo)
NO! I thought I told you guys no demos. How about a little reconsidering? No demos, extremely difficult levels, showcases, multiplayer only, or prize levels. I'll let this one slide, but from now on I will NOT review any of the previously mentioned types of levels. Now that that's hopefully clear...
This is a demo level by YUBOY7 (not YUBOY3) about exploring the big blue in search of golden stars and fishies. The opening sequence needs quite a bit of fixing, and so does some of the scenery, but other than that, this level's pretty darn good. The stage is large, and there are hidden areas all over the place. It's a real exploration. Sadly, it's very slow-paced, and that cuts the experience into little tiny pieces. You all know how slow Sackboy swims. The fish don't move at all. Sometimes they get in the way. But, if you're patient and good at grabbing stars outta the ocean, this level is for you. It just needs a bit of pace and scenery tweaking.
As I said before, some of the scenery is unpleasant. The opening sequence could use major fixing. It's a conveyer belt on a big block of (I forget the material), and it leads you past the title and a couple of other words that float. YUBOY7 did not invent his own font, so he just cut out the letter stickers. It's an opening sequence, so it kind of has to give the player a good impression of the level, not drive them away. But it's very short, and not a significant part of this level, so it's not too big of a deal. Other than some quality problems, the setting is very relaxing and looks like a real ocean. The fish actually have names, so it's interesting to look for some you've never heard of before.
Well, I'm pretty sure YUBOY7 spent a lot of time on this. Maybe not the opening sequence, but he definitely spent a good amount of time on the gameplay. It's only a demo, but it's still fun and very large. I'd like to see this as a full level. Hope my advice gives you ideas, YUBOY7. Good luck!
And there's another review. Hope you all liked it! Keep requesting and I'll keep reviewing. I'm thinking about changing my review methods a bit, maybe adding some pictures or such. Until next time.
P.S.- Arbiekko, do you want me to just review any one of your levels or is there a particular one? Just let me know.

Level: The Zombie Caverns
I can't really review this well, because I helped significantly while building this level with my friends. It took a long time, too. Oh well. This thread is looking pretty underused at the moment, is this the end of it? SO YOUNG
You explore a mine that contains shiny blue crystals that generic miners are mining for. It's all dandy until you get caved in with all of the other miners on the east wing. You try to find a way out and discover a mysterious miner named Ace. His past is full of zombies and death, as the caverns are home to millions of zombies. He leads you through the mines, dodging and fighting hoards of zombies. The leader is a dragon-like zombie that inhabits the lava caves deeper in the earth. He wreaks havoc on the miners above him by sending his zombie army to take over the mines. Ace decides to fight back with other miners to stop the zombies. The series isn't finished yet, but it will be soon.
Even though I helped with some of the visuals, they are O.K. People keep mentioning "jagged edges", and I think that's a problem too. I didn't make the WHOLE level, I was more of a do-er, and my friends were the directors. Other than that, the scenery is great. It really looks like a mine to me. Some areas may look lazily done because I was up past twelve A.M. working on the level on some days. There aren't many lazy areas, and most of the level looks great.
I don't really have to do effort judging--I helped. A LOT. We spent a lot of time on this level. Go try it out sometime. Hope you like it. Remember, I didn't decide on how the level would look or work, they did. I just built most of it. Feel free to check out my levels too if you like The Zombie Caverns.
Hope I get more requests

Level: The Legend of Zelda- Zelda's Birthday
This looks like it might be one of the last reviews. I haven't gotten a response in a long while
If anyone's reading this at all...
This is a level based on The Legend of Zelda. You play as yourself (maybe Link, but your appearance is unchanged and you aren't in a sackbot) in Link's familiar village. It's Zelda's birthday today, but someone stole her presents. The thief never shows his face, and neither does any kind of boss. There is very little combat, and if there is it's very short and simple. I think this level could easily be made in LBP1 (besides the creatinator and sackbots), and if you didn't know--if your level is an LBP2 level I expect you to take full advantage of it's abilities (not that you have to, but I like that). It doesn't make it a bad level, but it kind of takes away the "LBP2" feel. Don't think I won't like levels that aren't like that, but it's just...a weird habit of mine. It's a great little level nonetheless. Really, the only negative is the visual quality.
On to the visuals. The visuals are alright. I mean, it's a bit blocky and blobby, and very simple. It uses the 3d layering glitch, but that doesn't really add to the scenery's beauty. There are nice calming areas that are easy on the eyes, and I like that about this level's scenery. However, I'd like to see more complexity in the design.
I honestly have no idea how long Flame worked on this. Different creators have different skills and tastes. I'd say he worked quite and amount of time. There are some areas (like the Great Deku Tree and Gerudo Valley) that are blocked off. You can never get past. I thought it was kind of disappointing, as I'd love it if you could go different places than the village.
As I mentioned in another post, I was certain this would be a good level. I was right, but not in all of the areas I expected it to be good in. It ends a bit too quickly and I wanted more. Maybe you could add on to it, Flame? I'd love to see what else you can do. Nice level. I look forward to reviewing your other levels.
I think the last review will be on one of Arbiekko's levels. She never made it specific which one, but I'll just review a random one. Please keep requesting, I don't want this thread to DIE yet

The point is, if i added a lot of platforming sections, it would no longer feel a loyal recreation of the N64 game.
I really wanted to add a Gerudo Boss in the Hideout, but the thermo killed me.
Some areas are blocked off because i couldn't fit them in the level.
You'd be surprised how much quickly the 3D Glitch eats the thermo.

I might make a sequel in the future, to showcase other areas of the game... But i don't think it would be worth it.
The areas that still to be featured are:

- Lake Hylia (which with the Water and the 3D glitch would look pretty awesome)
- Gerudo Fortress (which would look quite awesome too using the Canyon materials)
- Hyrule Castle (Probably not worth the effort...)
- Gerudo Desert (which i can't make because i don't have the sand material...)

Btw, if you're bored, try my other levels, so you have an excuse to don't let this thread die.

Here's the next review. I hope this thread gets more requests. That's saying something considering that I'm REALLY peeved at the moment.
PSN: DarkDedede
Level: Not Another Crane Game!
Another? I've never seen anything like it. Well, not in LBP2. It's a nice remake of that frustrating little crane game at the exits of supermarkets. Except you don't have to pay and you have a lot more than twenty seconds! Yay! You enter a controllinator and control a crane that grabs for silly-shaped point bubbles. That's all there is to it. You have to try to get all of the bubbles, but I'd suggest (to DarkDedede) a less amount, as that'd take a very, VERY long time.
The scenery is a retro-arcade like one, similar to Huge Ship's scenery. It could use some tinkering, but it's nice. There's not much else to say about it.
I'm pretty sure that DarkDedede spent a good amount of time on this. The claw is nice and those point bubbles are pretty organized. Unfortunately, it gets pretty repetitive and it's pretty easy. I don't even think the bubbles have prizes inside. It's a nice game if you want to kill some time.

PSN: YUBOY3
Level: Tap Tap THE SCIENTIST by Coldplay
That's right, folks, a musical level. A nice remake of "The Scientist" by Coldplay by EXPAYDA. It's a bit like guitar hero. The level's a bit short and the hologram could go quicker, and maybe there could be a practice mode to help you get accustomed to the controls. Other than that, it's cool.
There's not really a scenery. Shiny rows slowly bring the hologram towards you, and you must press the corresponding button in that row. Simple.
To be very honest, I'm not sure how long it took YUBOY3 to make this. It's short and simple, and he didn't make the song. I might have to dock a few points for that. Sorry. Otherwise, it's a nice short level for those people looking to put their fine motor skills to the test!

PSN:Alpha-Omega81
Level(s): Fantasy Adventure (Series)
A nice (unfinished, I presume) series by Alpha-Omega81 about a heroic sackboy that goes on a journey to free the "Sackboy of Ledgend" from the clutches of an evil mage named "Griever". Erath tells the story of the planet of (I forget), his people's home planet. There is a book called the Dark (I also forget--sorry, I can't remember all of these names!), and the people sent their best mage--Griever--to study it. He discovered the dark powers that are possible with the book, and he becomes corrupt and evil. He goes on a rampage and gives Erath and the others no choice but to flee the planet. When you (yeah you) discover the book, Griever (currently disguised as the village's judge) tries to kill you and damages the village in the process. The guards are after you, which forces you to leave. This marks the beginning of a long journey to destroy that idiot's face and save the world. I don't even know the whole story, it only goes to part three!
The scenery is great, but not perfect. There are a few unpleasant shapes and lack of decoration variety, but other than that it's good. The dojo thing looks especially detailed. It has a nice LBP1 vibe and that's a good thing. Although sometimes it can feel a bit...primitive (I guess?), the creative use of platforming never gets old. I know that I said I expected even the smallest amount of LBP2 material in levels, but that sounds a bit overrated now. There are separate areas, and each have a different theme and scenery. The areas vary, which is very nice.
I'm positive Alpha spent a lot of time on these levels. I think he's still working on it. Varying scenery, an amazing story, and good character development. The only sort of bad thing is the kind-of out of date logic (like excessive use of swings, simple grab sensors, tag sensors--all without much logic to it). Can't wait for the next part.
That's it for today. I have to share my PS3, so that's why I have to wait. About four hours today. That's why I'm not the happiest person right now. I also almost finished that hour-long update for LBP2 today, and my stupid internet decided to turn off. So that's another thing. Oh well. Keep requesting, I'm always available.

Thanks for reviewing my levels

Yes, I am working on the next chapter right now and yes, the first 2 levels look "outdated".
But that is because I created those in LBP1. A while after I've gotten LBP2 I updated those first 2 chapters to LBP2 levels;
Cardboard cut outs as villagers became sackbots and I used a few movie camera's instead of magic mouths.

The decorations are on some parts fewer than others because of the thermo (I always fill up my level to the point of overheating).
About logic and stuff, I don't want it to get too complicated.
I intend for this series to be simple platforming with a few puzzles and challenges.

Again thank you

I'll get to reviewing everyone's levels as soon as I can. I'm pretty sure I have a huge time difference where I am, so it can't be immediate.2011-10-14 23:00:00

Here are the next reviews, after only a billion years.
3.1.0.1. (Single player ONLY)
By: angiefaramarzi
Description: This is an amazing level with a deep story by angiefaramarzi. It takes place (most of the time) on an abandoned spaceship orbiting a deadly black hole. The crew is dead, eaten by some kind of alien race, and you've been in a suspended state of mind for years.
Gameplay: You play as yourself. The level is a platformer, and doesn't really feature any tools besides the grappling hook. It stays true to it's genre. There are bits of the story while your platforming around the ship, and you teleport between areas with checkpoints. It's a bit of a puzzle level in a way. It also reminds me faintly of Dead Space . There aren't really any cons except that I'd like to see some more areas.
Gameplay: 10/10
Scenery: The scenery is absolutely amazing. [A]ngie definitely put his/her tools and resources to good use. It really looks like you're in space; you can see the atmosphere of the planets, asteroids flying around, and the detail on the ship is remarkable. It was so good that I took a picture of one part I thought looked cool:
http://ib.lbp.me/img/ft/22bb17aa2ebbd7fa92b0bfccdb5708943e05ef8a.jpg
That might not have even been the best looking part. Play it and see for yourself.
Scenery: 10/10
Verdict: Overall, this level was great. The effort is obvious, and so is the quality. It has a great story, and I only played part one (and the demo). I look forward to a part two. I hearted it.
Level: 10/10

Highway Encounter
By: stuk71
Description: This is a controllinator level in which you control a "Vortron" and push the "Lasertron" across the highway to destroy the alien race and save the world. It's a top-down shooter.
Gameplay: As I said before, you control a Vortron from top-down view, shooting everything that gets in your way (quite literally). Yes, it does sound like fun. However, that fun is mauled to death by difficult controls, such as tight turns and hard aiming. You don't really have a free angle of trajectory, it kind of snaps into a certain angle, which makes it hard to aim and move. However, the gameplay is quite original and very creative. Yay!
Gameplay: 8/10
Scenery: The scenery is awesome. Many other players apparently think the same. It appears to be a bashed-up highway above a canyon. The lighting and shadows fit, and so does the material. [S]tuk71 is good at keeping a theme to his levels.
Scenery: 10/10
Verdict: This level is a must-try. Why did I say "must-try"? Because it's challenging, and everyone loves a good challenge. I died. Many times. Anyway, it's a fun level to play if you are looking for something a bit more difficult and new. The only cons are that the controls could be easier to manage.
Level: 9/10

Just a Dream? Intro/teaser
By: valeview05
Description: A short introduction/teaser of "Just a Dream?". I never got to play the actual level (if it's finished) because the link was locked, and there weren't any other levels on his planet. However, it said he had 8.
Gameplay: Erm, not much to see here. You're apparently in a dream. It's not really platforming, just walking. Objects and sackbots with magic mouths on them are scattered all over the place. It's basically an LBP1 level with Sackbots. It's only the intro though, so I'd love to see what he does with the actual game! Sorry, vale. I can't really grade you good if not at all here.
Gameplay: None
Scenery: Uh, sorry. I have to be honest. The scenery is...below average. The stage barely contains anything in the first place. The corners are choppy, some mouths are still visible, and the material is not themed whatsoever. Hopefully it's different in the next level.
Scenery: 2/10 (ouch)
Verdict: It's an intro. I'll give it a chance. It would have been better if vale had given me the finished product. Oh well, better luck next time. I hope you finish/ publish your level!
Level: 3/10 (sorry :/)

Mushroom Meadows
By: ZexenVatenkeist
Description: A Mario Bros based LBP1 level. That's pretty self-explanatory. Side-scrolling, blocks, shells, pipes, all of that stuff. It's pretty straightforward too.
Gameplay: Since this is LBP1, I can't really specify a genre. It's always platforming. You go around jumping on scary-looking koopas and goombas and hit blocks for bubbles. That's pretty much it. It's fun, though. Platforming never gets old, and Zexen adds in good uses for koopa shells.
Gameplay: 5/10
Scenery: It could be better. It's a block of one material with brown stickered blocks floating above it. I can see how he tried to influence that pixely look. There isn't much use of the layering, so it looks bland. However, the bright stickers keep it colorful.
Scenery: 5/10
Verdict: Overall, this level was decent. It's LBP1, so I can't bash it for generic gameplay. The scenery wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. Same goes for the gameplay. It was good, Zexen. I liked it indeed. Try to place more checkpoints.
Level: 5.5/10
That's it for today, thanks for keeping this thread alive, guys.

Sorry about that, but it IS a review :/. I might change it if I can find a good reason to. I still look forward to your second part

Umm, I have a level I would appreciate having reviewed if it's not too much trouble. It starts with an intro called Sewer-Cide: The Descent of Larry Slime, and goes on from there.

Here is the link:

Here are the next reviews!
Yes, I am doing this level again. Why? Valeview05 improved it and asked for permission (you can do that too! YAY!). Anyway, I'm just going to review the improvements. Read the previous review for the description (but disregard the negative parts).
Visuals: I have to say, Valeview did a great job on improving these. There's a castle, some grass, and the create mode floor isn't entirely noticeable. However, the visuals still are a bit blobby and sloppy. Even so, he did a good job on improving them. He even added some platforming.
Visuals: 7.5/10
Gameplay: It's just the intro, but he added a bit of platforming before you get to the scoreboard. As I said in the previous review, it's just a bit of walking and (now invisible!) magic mouths. It's surreal, and that's a good thing.
Gameplay: I'm still going to say N/A because there's not enough to grade.
Overall: I really like the improvements you took from me (and that other guy), Valeview. It's a lot better. I'm going to grade you based on your improvements. Because of slightly sloppy scenery and platforming, I'm going to have to dock a few points. But, with all of those visual and gameplay improvements, I'm going to give you a 7.5.
Verdict: 7.5/10
Quite a long name you have there. This is another DaVinci level (as you can guess). DaVinci apparently was rejected by Radio Playstation when he submitted a song to them. He wants YOU to kick their butts for him. You have to go on a rather haphazard platforming journey to get to Radio Playstation and give them a piece of your mind.
Visuals: Eh, they're okay I guess. They're a bit simple, bland, and blocky, but you can digest it eventually. It has that nice DaVinci ring to it, and so does the platforming. It's not entirely DaVinci's place, mind you. You go through (sorry, but a bit awkward) recreations of Clive's and what seems to almost be the Weddings.
Visuals: 5.5/10
Gameplay: It's difficult platforming all the way! Yeah! But really, there are some parts that just aren't fair. Like in Clive's place for example; when you have to jump over those electrified blocks. I didn't know it was supposed to be a glitch (that doesn't work that well, spartan). Lucky I improved my patience with levels .
Gameplay: 6/10
Overall: This was a fairly nice level. It has potential and imagination, just not beauty and flow. The story kind of flies off when that...cow block? first appears. Other than that, good job, spartan. P.S.:Was that a real life problem for you?
Verdict: 5.5/10
This is a very nice level by Rainbowtips that takes place in the sewers (like a very difficult MM PICK I played a long while ago). It explains the story of Larry Slime, a scientist who quit his job to make fizzy drinks, in an attractive cut scene. When he wasn't satisfied with his work, he turned to the sewers for his "secret ingredient" (EWWWW). This choice resulted in him getting in an explosion (I think). He then turned into a slime sack, enslaving everyone.
Visuals: Very good. He made good use of glitches and materials to make the sewers look like the sewers. There are nice tech areas that are very good looking and complicated. There's only one part that I remember that looks a bit unpleasant. Everything else looks great.
Visuals: 9/10
Gameplay: Challenging platforming. Nice tubes, contraptions, and puzzles propel you through the sewer maze. You eventually engage in chase with Larry Slime. However, there are some glitches. The biggest one was when I was trying to get up after I defeated the plasma ball-shooting robot. I couldn't get up! I just went straight through those layer-changing platforms.
Gameplay: 9/10
Overall: In conclusion, SewerCide is a great level to play if you want a good story and a great challenge. It's also nice eye candy. Besides a few kinks in the gameplay and visuals, this is good.
Verdict: 9/10
Well, that's all for this review. I thank everyone for keeping this thread on it's feet, even after an eon of procrastination and delay. Until next time .

Hmmm...
Mostly I'm happy with it..How do you mean "sloppy and blobby" Visuals?
(I'm just curious ^^)

Like background that people usually respond to with "Use the corner editor". It just needs a few tweaks is all. You did a good job improving, though.
