A question about republishing
Archive: 12 posts
You republish something by overwriting it on your earth right? And if you republish something do plays, hearts, etc. disappear or are they let be? I had another another question but cant remember lol. Just asking because i was releasing a 2nd version of my copernicus lvl and I was unsure if i should overwrite the old one. thanks | 2011-07-31 18:22:00 Author: mrhollywood12345 Posts: 89 |
Yeah you just publish over it and it asks if you wish to overwrite. Plays, hearts and ratings are kept. | 2011-07-31 18:34:00 Author: Radishlord Posts: 706 |
I republish constantly! It's perfectly safe, with one caveat: do not change the name of the level. You can change the CONTENT with no problems. You can also change the level badge and description and tags. When you republish, it'll update the content, keeping all hearts, plays, yays and boos. No problems. But if you change the name of the level, it treats a republish as a delete and uploads a whole new level, 0 hearts, 0 plays, 0 yays, 0 boos. | 2011-08-01 02:52:00 Author: Unknown User |
Dang, wish id known that. oh well. then again i did have to change the name to v.1.1, and v.1.0 only had 4 plays (feel free to help me with that)! but thanks for answering my questions, it was very helpful | 2011-08-01 16:38:00 Author: mrhollywood12345 Posts: 89 |
Well, you actually can change the name of the level by editing it on the Earth. | 2011-08-01 22:32:00 Author: fireblitz95 Posts: 2018 |
Well, you actually can change the name of the level by editing it on the Earth. I hadn't thought of that! What happens if you change the name on the Earth and you want to republish over the top of it? Do you change the name on the Moon to match the Earth one? Or does that still count as a delete and reset plays and hearts and things to zero? I will experiment with this tonight and see what happens. | 2011-08-02 04:13:00 Author: Unknown User |
It has never reset anything of mine before. | 2011-08-02 05:33:00 Author: fireblitz95 Posts: 2018 |

You can actually republish any level on top of any existing patch on your earth without losing rating, plays, reviews or anything I've even seen some people abuse this, by publishing stolen levels on top of existing patches on their earth. This way the "first published" date of the patch is kept, while the content of the level is now completely different. Then when comparing the info of the original creation with the stolen one, the stolen one looks older as the patch on which it resides was created before the original level. I have had this happen to me a few times back when I was still keeping my levels unlocked for the community to learn from - mischievous people sure are sneaky | 2011-08-02 12:00:00 Author: Slaeden-Bob Posts: 605 |

I have republished a level with a changed name and not lost hearts/plays, BUT I've only done that with a modified name, like changing "super cool level" to "super cool multiplyer adventure" | 2011-08-06 18:38:00 Author: Pookachoo Posts: 838 |
Something that I published was doing well, had about 9 yays and a few hearts, and I changed the title very basically (removed a period; see Fonts., Cardboard Playground., etc., punctuation habit of mine, heh heh) and published over the old version. Everything went back to zero. Since then I have only done level description and content changes, and never go near the title. Weird! Maybe I did something wrong that I've forgotten and wrongly associate with the title change! | 2011-08-07 01:22:00 Author: Unknown User |

Hmm, well if you edit anything on a lbp1 level in lbp2 it will reset them to lbp2 standards. | 2011-08-07 03:03:00 Author: fireblitz95 Posts: 2018 |
