Mousetrap! - The LBP Incarnation

Archive: 1 post

I have recently started work on my level inspired by the old board game Mousetrap. Link to Ideas thread - https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=5689

The basic idea is that sackboy is in a Zorb ( a big ball, like at the end of my other level - Surf's up) which he controls by running while inside the ball. He has to stay inside the ball for almost all the level as the floor will be electrified, although there may be some bits where he can get out for some reason or other....While in the ball he needs to navigate obstacles, mainly physics based puzzles, and set off chain reactions which allow him to progress further. The physics based chain reactions (like in the game "Mousetrap") are what I want to focus on with this level, I am trying to use "real" physics in these rather than cheating by using the in game tools, such as winches, and motorized bolts, although these do get used anyway in some places.

It's going really well so far, the trickiest bits are where I have to fine tune some of the springs and things which hit the Zorb, as it is made of cardboard and sponge which tends to break, anything stronger is too heavy for sackboy to move effectively. The inner layer of the Zorb is a grab switch which can be used to activate things in the environment.

So, I will be releasing a Beta version soon, so you can all give me some real feedback, but first I want to add some more content. I need ideas for cool chain reactions to setup, I have some good ones already done, but need some help now..... so.... any ideas?

Oh, almost forgot - I also need some kind of back story as to why sack boy would be in this situation in the first place. I'm completely stumped on this one.... maybe the Zorb is somekind of valuable artifact which he needs to transport to the end of the level?
