Multiplayer Character (sackbot) Selection

Is it possible to make a character selection screen with 4 different characters on a multiplayer versus stage and have the character selection that each player picked transfer through a level link so they go into the controllinator in the actual stage that corresponds with the character they selected in the menu in the previous stage?2011-07-30 17:36:00

If you want character be linked on a other level directly it's impossible. But there is a way to do it with score coding. The score is the only thing that you keep when you get linked to the other level.
So now what you have to do is:
If for example one of your character is spider-man, when someone chose spider-man he get 400 point. So when he goes to the other level, emit spider-man only if he exactly got 400point (Score).

This definitely works, but only for half the battle. For example:

Suppose there are 3 players. Player 1 picks spider-man, player 2 picks batman, and player 3 picks superman. I could easily determine which characters were picked based on your method, but now how would I make sure each player controlled the characters they picked?

Pretty sure I played your PoP level a few weeks ago. It was cool, I enjoyed it.

There is no way to do it with multiple players. You will need to remake the character selection menu. 2011-07-30 20:25:00

Yea, my method only work with 1 player. We don't have that kind of data to make each player get on the selected character.2011-07-30 20:28:00

1st player comes out of checkpoint first and second second and so on correct? but wouldn't work online2011-07-30 20:47:00

Hmm.. that's too bad. Oh well. The reason I asked is because I'm making 3 different arenas to battle in and wanted them to be sub levels so the stage was technically only one. I'll just make the title stage have the name and arena select and the character selects within each stage or something.

If someone new has a way to do this, please post.

Hmm.. interesting idea. Thermo space is good so I may be able to do that as long as it doesn't further complicate things.

If you wanna glitch the thermo without having extra lagg, just make the thing you pass on the level get destroyed, for example the menu,character selection,etc..Make them get all destroyed after they get on the arena.2011-07-31 02:05:00
