[Glitch] How to Merge Objects with a Checkpoint
Archive: 8 posts
Hello everybody ! Here is a new tutorial video to teach you how to combine / merge objects with a checkpoint or a level entrance ! Video (I speak French in this video, but I will explain each step right below) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQr9V0C8Lmc - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQr9V0C8Lmc Here is the text for you to understand step by step : 1. Select which objects you want to combine and put them into your level. For this tutorial, we'll use the "Ancient Skull Head" from "Pirates of the Carribeans Level Kit" (sorry if the names are not matching, I'm french and don't know all the english names for objects), the "Woman's Puppet Head" from LBP1 and the "Thing Mask" from "Marvel Level Kit". 2. Capture each of them with the checkpoint but not the Ancient Skull Head because of we will keep this one as main object to combine all of the other objects with it. http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/6945/35725994.png 3. Crush your level entrance (just let a big metal bloc fall on it). If you have an other entrance or checkpoint in your level, crush them too ! http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/3063/84318123.png 4. Turn on the "Pause Mode" ("Up" on D-Pad). 5. Get in your captured objects the first object to combine with the Ancient Skull Head : "Thing Mask with the checkpoint", but don't put it yet in your level, you can pass it through the skull head to see what it looks like if you combine them together : http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/8769/94490419.png You can see the red color on your objects because of they are at the same place so you can't put your object here 7. Just press Circle and since you have crushed all the entrances and checkpoints, the game will think this one is the main of the level, so it will stay and the object will stay too : http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/1787/60831182.png 8. Now you will have to glue them together to prevent your objects to crush themself when you will turn off the "Pause Mode" (because of they are at the same place). Just put a piece of hologram material through them and glue them together, then turn the light of the hologram to 0% : http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/2349/21191351.png 9. Repeat step 6 and step 7 for all objects you want to combine with it (don't forget to unglue and glue again the hologram after each combination to make sure your objects are as one) : http://img813.imageshack.us/img813/9886/18647252.png 10. You can add some eyes too, just using a "Fairy Light" : http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/6985/84939089.png 11. Now, we will add some stickers to this amazing (yes !) object we made : http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/2268/96222510.png You can press L2 to mask an object (to make it transparent) and put a sticker on an other object : http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/5507/87536440.png http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/8019/45569697.png 12. Here is the final object : http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/7461/14851945.png 13. Well... We can make it look even better just by tweaking some general lighting effects : http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/1286/19115116.png http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/2791/19357223.png Voil? ! ^^ What do you think about this glitch / tutorial ? I've done that before 8^) it was actually annoying this one time though since once I didn't want to place the item but it did anyway.... | 2011-07-30 18:41:00 Author: lve_msg Posts: 408 |

Srry m8, but this has actually been around since LBP1, a little late for the party. i for one didn't know about it. so it doesn't hurt to revisit it | 2011-07-30 19:17:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |

Wow, I never knew about this. Could be very useful, and a bit easier to use than the glitched object merger. I don't know if this will work in LBP2, but it used to be the case that if you deleted the element you used to glue the rest, everything else would stay glued together. | 2011-07-31 21:53:00 Author: croissantbuncake Posts: 572 |
