I am currently building a level but I do not want to make it too short, nor do I want to make it so long no one wants to play it. How short is a level for it to be too short and long long is a level for it to be too long is my question.

Make the length inversely proportional to the difficulty. If it's easy, you can make it longer. If it's hard, even with infinite checkpoints, make it shorter. Take into consideration if any part of your level is tedious, like something that takes many tries to get past, even if they don't die in the process.
