The Trashed Project Thread

Archive: 14 posts

I'm sure pretty much all of you have many Levels on your psp that you will never finish. I created this thread that you can still share pictures and/or descriptions of your failed attempts at creating a level .

The first one of my abandoned projects is rather just a scene than a level, but I really liked the style, so why not just post it
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0o98UJUmgpY/TjLpkrhquYI/AAAAAAAAABI/Cea7XHopsmQ/s320/HNI_0062.MPO

The second one is a quite near-completion level, but im too lazy to finish it C: I wanted to know how a level would look if you only used neony materials.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oI8A4oHjn3U/TjLpnMp6OxI/AAAAAAAAABY/y2hahLMDZ0c/s320/HNI_0064.MPO

Third one, just a little experiment, its basically the first one but reversed
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-feqrXOIkm48/TjLptj79DSI/AAAAAAAAACI/XkKbjAWUpyw/s320/HNI_0070.MPO

The fourth one is a completely stupid level in which you are just in a small room and there are a bunch of useless things you can do, the level doesn't even have a scoreboard, but it was fun creating it C:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jXHQvdkahvI/TjLpu1cEeAI/AAAAAAAAACQ/N1Wf6WcVKak/s320/HNI_0071.MPO

The fifth one and probably the most interesting one of them all: It's an experimental level(like every level here) where you dont run on a flat surface, but you run on planets, and when you try to run off one, the floor follows you under your feet. I originally planned to put this is the third part of the evernight series, but creating the second part is something I really don't wanna do, because it doesnt have a gimmic or interesting gameplay mechanic at all.

If the player would try to walk to the right, this would happen:

Awesome idea! Sadly, I don't have the picture taking tools needed to show off my unfinished masterpieces.

I especially liked your rotating planet level. Was your inspiration the book, The Little Prince, perhaps?

I once had a level where the idea was that there were giant tenticles invading a forest and each different color tenticle had a different purpose. Green was safe to walk on, red killed you, and blue tentacles were controllable with switched. It looked great and ran wonderfully but sadly after I finished it my PSP became corrupted! And being new to the game I thought it was my levels fault so I deleted it .

One of my saddest gaming memories right there. It wasn't really a failed or abandoned project but I think it fits in the thread.

I will get sme pics upo of mine. I had this INCREDIBLE idea for a christmas themed galaga based sooter, that of course didnt make it into existence, but rather turned into my level, Border Patrol. Not ragging, but I have devised the BEST control box in the game. It allows you to control and ofject left/right with the psp's joystick, and defaults off when you let go of the joystick. R and X also work.

The plan was to have a topdown santa and reindeer be controlled bythis box. The story was that santa accidentally dropped all of his presents, and you must drive santas sleigh and pick them all back up in the air. The presents would appear at the top of the screen and drift down to you. After periods of time the speed and amount of presents would slowly rise. You move back and forth in the sleigh collcting them, and also shoot out your loyal elves (r) in front of you to collects them, and every 30 seconds you could use x and activate "Christmas magic", which would be a bunch of white fog gas that automatically collects all gifts onscreen. You can only let 5 gifts get past.

It wouldve been quite easy to make and almost pulled it off, but one thing held me back; a Game Camera. The camera in the psp requires sakboy to be in the picture for it to work, unlike the lbp2 game camera. I had to have sackboy and the control box ou of sight in order for it to work, so basically it was impossible and I gave up.

Some of you already know this, but I was actually so sick of my level that all I had to do was put in a scoreboard and some score bubbles. I got so ticked off with the whole thing because portions of it were created when I was a mere noob that I just published it for a couple days telling some it was a beta and others that it was my new level. Little known fact is that there was actually a level showcase thread I made for it (with my fancy banners and all), yet I still ended up deleting the level a day later. Since I couldn't delete the thread, I shoved it to the bottom of the showcase forums by bumping other recent threads. What no one knows is that I took that very same level, put two pistons attached to flaming walls on either end of the create landscape and set them to shove together and stop once they touched. (I even did the math to make it so that it was perfectly satisfying when the two ends hit after squishing the level). This was my happiest moment in LBP PSP's create mode when it actually worked. Where did the entire "squished" level go? I like to think magical elves tried to save it and pull it out of the way in the .1 seconds they had. I also like to think they failed. (Yes, these are the same elves that Jeffcu imagines to hold sackboy up on the loading screen...)2011-07-30 23:33:00

I have too many to put in 1 post.

I feel it'd be a waist of time for me to tell you about them. xD

i had basicly the same idea about the rotating planet a while ago.
the only difference is that mine would be just one huge circle that you must go all the way around.

but i gave up on that idea because it is too hard to find gameplay that can work in that situation.
