Strange publishing glitch

Archive: 7 posts

Earlier on today I was having trouble publishing a work-in-progress to my earth. Every time I tried to publish, it said that there was a problem publishing. I dismissed it as normal until I checked lbp.me later. This is what I found:

Now, how in the world could I possibly publish something that is:
a. Not in the same game I'm playing.
b. Not by me.
c. Not even on my moon.
Is this new? The strange thing is that on the level page it also shows up that I've published it, when I have done no such thing. I'm deeply confused.

Levels on logs which i suppose seperate table in database have relations via ID to the levels data table, because error the log been saved to database with with maybe next free ID by default setup of the table (which also explains why the "from game" was wrong, because it picked default one). In general you need to know how SQL databases work to fullyt understand what may happend

I recomad to raport it in getsatisfaction, because inseting invalid data to database on error is something that should not happen

English, please. '

EDIT: I know english isn't your first language and I didn't want you to think I was poking fun of that. My comment simply means that I'm no good with that kind of stuff and had no idea what you were talking about. lol

Allow me to help.

Basically, something in LBP2 servers hiccuped, causing it to add an incorrect log record (it shouldn't do that, since your publishing attempt never succeeded; and because of that, the level ID used didn't actually correspond to any of your levels). This can happen, because levels and logs are (probably) stored separately, with levels identified by IDs in other databases (prevents data duplication, and saves a lot of storage space ).

Report it, this is quite a serious bug (programs should ensure that transactionality is guaranteed; basically all operations must succeed to be committed to the database).

Basically, its just another glitch in a game with many, many more glitches, at least SOME of which should be fixed but wont, because MM is leaving one of the most innovating games ever for "other things", after allowing the game to get screwed over because they didnt care about us enough to do something about it.2011-07-30 19:49:00

They're releasing a fairly massive 'Move' update which significantly expands on everything we can do with LBP. 17 more instruments, new functions for many logic pieces, new logic components, some very likely bug-fixes, and support for an entirely new form of gameplay.... I can honestly say that they are doing an acceptable job of adding on to this game.

Don't forget that they just had to deal with the spread of the overlord, which likely caused several headaches at MM.

Just because they're exploring other ideas, doesn't mean support for LBP will die. In all likelihood, they only ever had a couple people working on this since release. That's probably not going to change.

EDIT - On Topic : I also had some publishing issues around the time this occurred. Fortunately, I was not publishing a new level, so the failures meant nothing happened.

They not leaving LBP, they just start making new IP. I which MM didn't tell anything because now lot of people are confused and say strange things
