I want to "disable popit controls" without really disabling them.

I want to enable expression changes or other functions assigned to the d-pad when the player is controlling a sackbot but I don't want to take away the player's square button (for chat, costume change, and sticker editing). The only way to get a controllinator to read the d-pad buttons is to disable popit controls. I thought I had come up with a clever solution by placing a second controllinator on the bot's follower set to react to the closest player-- you can disable popit on the closest player controllinator without actually disabling the player's popit and the d-pad will work. Turns out there's a bug with the closest player setting: rather than actually listening to the closest player, it listens to whoever was closest when it or the players appeared, regardless of who's closest at the moment, so with 4 player, all 4 bots would react to player 1's d-pad because he was the first to spawn.

I can probably rig up a workaround where the players each get controllinator teleported to different corners of the screen and then spawn a second follower near each player with the closest-player-controllinator but that's a messy work around and it means using two followers instead of one or using a multi-stage controllinator startup (teleport, eject, then enter a new controllinator) and I was hoping there was a more elegant solution.

You can fix that 'bug' by ejecting the dcs. Just place a player sensor (inverted) and attach to bottom input of dcs. This will reset control (and prevent it) when no player is inside range, but will then be controlled by the first player to enter its range. Once they leave, it will again reset.

I dunno why they made it like that, but at least it has a solution. This was found by Antikris, who also posted a tut for it.
