Player-Sensing Bobble Bolt

Archive: 11 posts

Is there ANY way to have A wobble bolt that Turns when a player is on a certain side?
Prefferably, I need it to take up a small ammount space.

don't know if there is an easier way as i haven't used wobble bolts that much.
But you could put 2 motion censors on either side. Then place a 2way switch that controls the wobble bolt and set it to directional. Then attach 2 winches either side of the 2ways handle that connect to the sponge on the handle. Have both censor switches set to directional so that they will pull the handle each way depending what side you are standing on. This will take up no space as it's only the sensors and you can put the switch with the winches off screen.
Hopefully this should work

I think you got it right, Dorien. That's called an "Or switch". I'm positive it should work.2008-12-17 18:35:00

Or just a proximity switch on left side and set it to directional, and siwtch polarity so wehn on left side it goes left, when on right it goes right.

Downside it will automaticly lean right when you arn't on it, so it would help if we knew what you were attempting to do so I could give some ideas...

well...(hesitant pause)
don't want to spoil the surprise in my upcoming level.... but here goes.
A Turret, but It's going to be emmitted by a boss (One Every 4-5 seconds)
So? Any suggestions?

So the turret shoots from the boss at you, or you shoot the boss with the turret?2008-12-18 02:22:00

You will need to set up something similar to what dorien describes, this way you will be able to turn two switches into a single three way switch. You will need to attach the proximity sensors in such a way that unless the turret is pointing at the player then they will be inside a sensor. These sensors need to move around the level at the same rate at the turret does, while maintaining the same distance from the turret. In this way the turret will follow the player wherever they go.2008-12-18 20:16:00

Ok, if he only drops one, this shouldn't be too hard...

Step 1 have the boss fight on elevated ground. You're going to need some stuff going on underground out of sight for it too work.

Step 2: Cut out a long thin strip just below the surface all the way along the field, just out of sight. Make sure the ends are still intact, you don't want the ground falling down.

Step 3: Stick a box of glass at the far side where sackboy starts, most likely left side since thats what most people use for start. Oh yeah, inside the shaft you just made, lol. Make sure it's same size of hole, but can slide around in the shaft.

Step 4: Piston it to the far opposite side of the shaft. Set it to stiff ASAP.Make sure you use grid when making the piston for this to work, if it isn't straight it'll eventually collide with one of the walls of this underground shaft.

Step 5: Stick a proximity switch on the glass block. Set it to directional and make it's proximity a bit higher then how high a sackperson can jump, so the sackperson will always be in the proximity.

Now attach the proximity switch to the piston and the wobble bolt on the turret. Aslong as the turret is stationary it should work.

Tweak the pistons polarity so it will by default, without a sackperson, slide all the way to the left. Now The little glass block should follow your sackperson. Almost done!

Step 6: Tweak the turrets wobble boltso itwill aim at your sackperson. As he moves the wobble bolt should auotmaticly realign and follow your sackperson with a generic AI. Make sure the bomb or whatever it shoots, emits just outside the turret, otherwise if it turns as it shoots it'll blow up inside the turret.

Finish up by making a small little one by one, super thin piece of matching ground material in the far corner, and glue that to the ground. Then smear it and cover the shaft and everything up.

If you just make the whole thign and glue it, it will glue to the glass and stop it, so you need to glue it away from the glass and smear to prevent it. Remember to smear starting inside the glass and smear outwards to prevent the ungluing glitch!

Hope this works! ^_^

(don't forget to rate up if it does -.^)

That seems really Complex, But I think I understand.
But, Unfortunately, The Turret WONT be Standing Still, It's on wheels (WUT?) And there will be more than one, they'll be emitted.
