Dr Spongehead's How to make a permanent switch

Archive: 5 posts

I've gone and made the second of the "How to" series, which surprisingly enough talks about the ins and outs of the permanent switch system.

As always, I've tried to break down the matter into it's basic concepts so people can grasp the reasoning behind why things are as they are, rather than just be given an object which has all the settings and no explanation.

I have included a hand out as well for people to try in their own pods. It's one thing to learn about this stuff, it's another thing to play around with it yourself!

Finally, once again there is a dash of slapstick in this teaching level. I hope you all enjoy!

The thread for discussing the series as a whole is here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=5934). So if you want to suggest other ideas to cover, that's where to go!

The previous How to, How to make a monster give out more points (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=5927), is also online. They are not really meant to be played in any order, but in terms of being built, that one was first.

After a good nights sleep I've gone through and done some minor adjustments in this level, including changing the way the first main room's speech bubbles work so they run smoother, showing the sensors sensing range in a dotted line, and changing the speech bubbles that were coming up as stars to a non-censored version. A few minor tweaks were made to the dialogue in general as well.

I don't know why, but it seems the word "happened" is a bad word according to MM.

I must say, after playing this a while back, I was pretty pleased with the result. I had wanted to know how to do this for a while, though this did more than that. Yes, it also split it down so that all the mechanics would be understandable. What I mean is, it didn't just show me how to just make permanent switches, it taught me that this could be used in different scenarios also.

This is something I struggle to find when searching things like this on youtube. All I get is terrible video quality and no explanation as to why they're adding the dissolve/magnetic key. Another point is that it takes a lot longer to find a LittleBigPlanet tutorial online than on LBP itself (despite the terrible search engine).

This is why I love your 'Dr Spongehead' tutorials, and think that they are well deserving of 5*
