Tales of Olympus Part 1: Shipwreckedthe_puzzler312
One day your boat arrives to a strange island, in your nature, you decide to explore. From meeting gods, to adventuring temples, your exploration begins, but your journey is far from over.
This is basically my first "real" level that I have ever created. I tried hard on it, but now that I've learned from some of my mistakes, my part two will be visually improved, and more engaging. I'd really like it if I could get some feedback on my level so I know how I can make part two all the better. Thanks guys.

Feedback
Knowing that this is your first "real" level, I was impressed. You showed that you have all the makings of a strong creator with your use of stickers and the back thin layer. On top of that, your use of score bubbles created an excellent platformer without the danger. All that being said, you still have a lot to work on.

One thing that stands out in your level is the lack of corner editing. Your environments are all blocky, staircase-filled areas with little to no corner editing. Try making grassy areas smoother with curves to form hillsides and rocky areas with sharp ridges at large, random angles.

Another area of improvement would be platforming. You displayed your knowledge of placing score bubbles to make somewhat challenging jumping combos. Now you need to add to that feeling of challenge by creating obstacles for the player to avoid as there was no sense of danger whatsoever.

A third big no-no is seeing the level boundaries. If I remember correctly, you were fine at the beginning of the level, but as the player progresses there comes a time where there are random drop-offs in the white environment where you can encounter the blank floor with only a bit of red gas above it. The first thing here is that there shouldn't be those random drop-offs that show no immediate danger. You can also avoid the player seeing the floor by simply bringing the danger closer and making it visible to the player, telling him/her to turn back.

Well that's all I can remember for now. You have a lot of work to do, but you illustrated your basic knowledge of the game well with this level. I rated your level :star::star::star::star: for encouragement as it still needs a lot of work. Don't be discouraged, but rather encouraged that you have potential.

Hi U Puz. Ive tryed your level pal and it wasn't to bad. I agree with what Woodbury said really on his feedback, what with the corner editing and all. He's gave some good advice there and if you can take it on board I'm sure your levels will be even better pal. Keep creating mate as I'm sure you'll come good. Get playing some levels from the folk on this site, you'll get a great idea of corner editing and use of sticker work. Look forward to seeing what you can do mate when you've 'tidyed' up a bit. Nice one.2011-07-30 17:37:00

I took the advice, and the Updated version will be up on Monday sometime. It will of course be called: Tales of Olympus Part 1: Shipwrecked [Updated]. Once it's up, could you guys try it out, and tell me if the updates were worth it? Also, I'm creating another level called Just Deserts, it should be done sometime soon.2011-07-31 20:41:00
