I'm a researcher at UC Irvine and I need your help!

:tophat: Hi, I'm Kohalu! (PSN: DarcDeimos) I'm an undergraduate researcher at the University of California, Irvine, and I'm writing a paper about user-created content. Since this is the thread for recommendations, I thought you guys could help me out with something. We're writing a paper for an academic conference about how players challenge each other within a given paradigm. We've chosen LBP2 as our exemplar game because of its default platforming gameplay and because of the flexibility of its dev. kit.

For each of the main tags, I need examples of levels that are most representative of those tags, and also (preferably) use the same platforming type of gameplay that's in the original story mode. For example, the movie "Figment (http://lbp.me/v/09-wez)," would be a good representative example for the "cinematic" tag, or "Elysian Fields (http://lbp.me/v/0ms2wg)" for "artistic." As a reminder, here's all the main tags:

Short
Long
Challenging
Easy
Scary
Funny
Artistic
Musical
Intricate

If you guys could think of any representative ones for the secondary fields, that would be great too! (cinematic, versus, fighter, gallery, puzzler, platformer, racer, shooter, sports, story, strategy, survival challenge, tutorial). Remember to give me a link so I can find them.

Thanks! And remember, you are contributing to Science!

I have a recommendation lazy research guy...the in-game search filters! Yes that's right you can actually find levels in-game that match the tags you are interested in without relying on random user recommendations. Your research sounds super useful. 2011-07-28 01:49:00
