Sackbot recording doesn't play?

Archive: 9 posts

Hi,
Finally working on the intro cut-scene to my level. I have two sackbots that speak to you, telling you what you must do. Problem is in my test level I have recorded the action, then it rewinds and I test it out by jumping on a button but it doesn't play. One sackbot simply talks to you and points to the right. The second sackbot walks over and finishes off the sentence.

Other times the recorded action just plays out on it's own without me jumping on the button.

My set-up:
Microchip with sequencer on it. The sequencer has two movie cameras on it overlapping with the soft pan option on. A magic mouth is placed on the sequencer for each sackbot. Under each magic mouth I have placed a battery that is wired to each sackbot's behaviour in time with the magic mouths. This means that the movie camera, magic mouth and cut-scene all play at the same time, in sync. Each sackbot's recording is set to play once. But rewinding it after playing doesn't reset it. So I have to re-record the action again. UPDATE: At the end of the sequencer I have a battery that triggers another behaviour chip so they go back to idle after the movie cut-scene. I'm obviously doing something wrong. If my explanation isn't enough let me know as I can include an image of my set-up, if that helps. Once it's all done I will change the button to a player sensor with a counter on it so it only plays once.

I know whats wrong there. The magic mouths that are set to play once won't work because you might have already listened to it in create mode, telling it "Ok i have done my work now i don't have to do anymore work" and it never plays again. How to fix this is bchanging the option to "loop absolute" or whatever, then change it back to the play once option. If this doesn't help im sorry thats probably all i can do for you. good luck in your level!2011-07-26 22:08:00

I've tried 'loop absolute' and it just keeps playing over and over again. Tried all the different settings so it may be my actual logic messing it up. I think I've changed it back to play once after but I'm not sure as I've been going and forth with it a bit in create mode. Here a picture of it:

The 1st behaviour chip is the recorded action (above, top), the 2nd one is the idle but aware behaviour which is triggered after the movie on the sequencer. May be there's a better way of doing it?

A counter? How and what for? You don't mean a one-shot permananet counter do you, as I'll use this in place of the button with a player sensor once it's up and running.

I had this problem. To fix it - set the behaviour chip to 1 shot. Now, make a copy of that chip. Take the wire from the old chip and place it on your new chip. Delete the old behaviour chip.

For some reason, once you play "your behaviour", it counts that as your one shot. But once you make a copy of it, I guess it "resets" it.

That should cure your issue.

Will I have to do this everytime I want to test it out in create mode or change the recording?

Most times, if you rewind, it is fine.

But worst case scenario, if it happens again, just make a copy if the chip and it will reset. It's annoying, for sure, but its just another LBP issue we have to live with.

At least there is a work around.

I tried this not too long ago and it's still not working. It continues to play without me hitting the button then doesn't play again since it's on play once. But when I copy the chip and place it over the previous one it does the same thing and I'm back to square one again. It wouldn't allow me to delete the old chip, don't know why, so that's why I placed it on top of it? Even changed the settings and tried timers and tags with tag sensors and it just plays out again. I'm not getting anywhere.
