~Ghosting Chip~
Archive: 7 posts
Hey there Doods and Girlthings. I’m here telling ya about a odd "Chip" I made a short while back ago. It is a odd "Ghosting microchip" I made by mistake. What does it do? It removes almost anything’s physical properties… And well... some of you may have heard of the old chrome glitch yes? Where you corner edit materials sides and stuff right? Well I had a very hard time myself getting it to work using that method… But the nice thing about it is if you like creating levels backgrounds with the extra layers, But wish you did not have to give up the 4th thin layer in order to do so? Then this is where "Ghosting" comes in handy. As if you ghost your custom BG You get the use of the 4th thin layer again! Here I‘ll show you my chip and how it works below~ http://www.freewebs.com/chaoswinds/Sozo/A%20Photo_52.jpg All you got to do is glue the object to another object. then put the chip on the object you don't need glued to the other object you want ghosted. Then Push play and then your done~ But remember... put the chip on the object you don't need. the other glued object will be the one you are wanting to keep. http://www.freewebs.com/chaoswinds/Sozo/A%20Photo_53.jpg Pretty nice and simple yes? As for what is inside the chip is just… A "Battery" hooked to a "Destroyer" set to "Fall Apart" all put inside 1 microchip. Yup nothing much really else to it. But this topic is not just about the chip I made. I’ve heard some people found how to ghost and unghost while in playmode, Using logic. Sounds cool and wonder if other people know how it’s done? Also this topic is just for whatever general talk about the ghost/chrome glitch. As I find it’s a interesting thing o bob. | 2011-07-25 22:56:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |

Then this is where "Ghosting" comes in handy. As if you ghost your custom BG You get the use of the 4th thin layer again! Whoa, really? That'll be really useful! That always kinda bugged me that using the extra layers meant you basically lost the back thin layer if you had a car or something that uses that layer. | 2011-07-26 10:54:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
This is pretty cool! I knew about this glitch from LBP1, but I never considered using it for making the back layers less intrusive... Great idea! Good work finding how to do it with a chip too! | 2011-07-26 12:57:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
So I'm wondering...if you create a background scene, ghost it, and then decide later that you want to edit some detail of the background scene, what are your options? | 2011-07-26 13:27:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
So I'm wondering...if you create a background scene, ghost it, and then decide later that you want to edit some detail of the background scene, what are your options? Um... move everything to a new level and start over? Ghosted objects can be worked with but they're kinda' finicky sometimes--I've even had the game crash when I've tried to edit them before. I would recommend not ghosting your background objects until you're absolutely certain that you're ok with them where they are. Another thing you can use this for is stairs or rocky terrain that doesn't actually behave like rocky terrain. If you'll notice in most 2d platformers, when a character encounters stairs, if you actually watch them, it's like they're walking up a smooth ramp. When I build stairs in my levels, I like to kill the stairs so that the player can just walk right through them and embed a ramp inside it so that the player can just walk right up instead of that annoying hop-hop-hop you have to do on everybody else's stairs. You can do the same for bumpy/rocky terrain--a bumpy surface can seriously slow down a sackboy who's running over it and can mess up his jumps, but if the bumpy terrain is just for show, he can run over a smoother surface embedded inside it. | 2011-07-26 15:39:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
You can actually unghost an object by putting a material tweaker on it beforehand, and changing stickiness to 'non stick' when you wish to move it. | 2011-07-26 18:21:00 Author: Radishlord Posts: 706 |
You can actually unghost an object by putting a material tweaker on it beforehand, and changing stickiness to 'non stick' when you wish to move it. He has a point I believe~ Also. For anyone who is feeling unsure when and if to ghost something in their level. Or would just plain like to unghost it when wanted. There is some ways~ one way I know... but it can take some testing in order to get it work right sometimes. When your wanting to ghost something before you do, Glue another 3th object To the object you want ghosted… like this http://www.freewebs.com/chaoswinds/Sozo/A%20Photo_54.jpg Then after you ghost your object. Just delete the 3th object anytime To turn it back to normal~ but it’s tricky sometimes… I’m just a beginner at ghosting so I don’t have all the answers But maybe reading these old topics could help anyone~ https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=36483-Very-Rare-chrome-glitch&highlight=Chrome+glitch https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=55857-No-Collision-Material&highlight=Chrome+glitch https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=41669-Advanced-Chrome-Glitch-Techniques&highlight=Chrome+glitch PS: Make sure NOT to "Corner Edit" any Ghost objects!! that'll freeze your game. *mew | 2011-07-26 19:05:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
