There is a vBulletin mod titled vBExperience that uses a mathematical algorithm to determine someone's rank(it takes pretty much everything into account, including usefulness of their posts) to determine someone's rank around here. Now, if we want a ranking system, that one is more accurate and doesn't encourage mass posting to get your rank up. It could turn out to be pretty useful. | Also, vbExperience has a store! When you are active, you accumulate points based on how good of a member you are, and from there you can use those points to "purchase" different things from the store! When you reach a certain predetermined rank, you can be rewarded with certain things instead of having to buy them. Also, there are built-in awards that you can win, that are just little icons in your postbit. That way people know you are an especially helpful poster, or you like to edit your own posts instead of double-posting. Looked through the thread, and saw the optional ones that you mentioned. Are you guys including the one where you get minus points for reviving old threads or not? Also, I think it will help get the threads rated alot and have tags on every thread and the forum wil be alot more searchable and user-friendly. This is nice! LOL) I'm not sure how all of this is going to work out, but it looks really cool. | After lbp eats lunch, he's going to remove the rank images(our old ones) and move the avatars above the vBExperience bars. From there he is just going to see how people level up, lose levels, and how thing shift. For one, points are given for how long you've been a member, which I disagree with(that's why, Darkelite105, that one member has more points than you) and will talk to lbp about disabling. Anyway, here's the criteria that is taken into account when a user's score is calculated: Thread Points - Created threads - Thread views of own threads - Thread replies of own threads - Thread votes of own threads - Thread tags (vBulletin 3.7) - Replies to own threads - Sticky threads Post Points - Created posts - Views on attachments User Points - Days since registration - Referrals - Received infractions - Reputation / Use of reputation system - Visitor messages on profiles (vBulletin 3.7) - Members of own social groups (vBulletin 3.7) - Albumpictures (vBulletin 3.7) - Friends (vBulletin 3.7) Now, all of these settings can be edited and/or disabled, so we completely disable points for how long you've been a member. For example, if we value thread creation higher than replies, we can give two points for every thread and one for every reply. I know he is active, but there are plenty of other inactive members who have been around a while, and they have plenty more points than they deserve. It doesn't really do much for the site if a member is just here; he's got to contribute, and that's where this mod comes in. Can't we just remove the 0% active people from the list? lbp has removed points for being here longer and for just posting, so that both post count and length of membership are no longer taken into account. I'm not sure what exactly is taken into account, but that may be better, to prevent people from abusing the system. He's also tweaking a whole lot, so it may disappear and reappear from time to time until all of the kinks are worked out. EDIT: Yes, he has implemented those changes, and Reshin is still the fourth highest member(3rd, 3nd, and 1st is me, lbp, and Maltay respectively), so I think removing that setting didn't really hurt Reshin in any way. If anything, Maltay was hurt the most because just posting is no longer important. Here's the list of people. Depending on how useful a member you are, you are awarded points. You can then use those points to purchase items at a store our site will have in the near future, such as more PM space or a larger avatar.
